I want more diverse and realistic solar systems. Traveling in Eve is teh b0redom and needs something to make our travels more interesting and unique.
I've compiled a short list.
-Gas giants orbiting their Stars closer than Mercury is to our sun. -More pulsars. -Dwarf planets in asteroid belts. -Binary systems. -Red giants. -ENORMOUS STARS. -Dwarf Stars -Nebulae. -Star Clusters.
There's a huge list of ways to differentiate systems to make traveling a more enjoyable experience. This list being just a few examples. |

I don't think gas giants can form close to a star. But you're right overall, one system can feel like another, particularly in hi-sec. |

Their orbit can move them in closer |

New planet sensing technology has hinted at this case. As if the gas giant eventually orbited long enough around the star it ended up right next to it. Alternately the star may have expanded out to the giant, or both.

Elliptical orbits would be great.

There is one that has been discovered that is very close. I do not recall the name, sorry. |

Also, seeing the same enormous nebulae from multiple neighboring systems would help tie together space itself. With the object getting smaller the farther away you get from it. I believe with a few of these changes the game could be much more immersive.
As I understand it, this is exactly what they're working on now. Or at least they were talking about it before their massive re-prioritization. |

They are changing the backgrounds soon, maybe they'll be more like what you are suggesting. Also have you seen the ones in wormholes? Some of them are pretty good. I know that you're not necessarily talking about them. But they are kind of close to what you're talking about, except they aren't the orbits of the planets. |

CCP has always hinted about changes in that direction.
Although I distinctly recall that orbits where probably a hard thing to achieve they are "planning" to introduce, comets, system wide asteroid belts, nebulae and gasses. When or how they are going to do this has always been "to be decided" though so I wouldn't hold my breath.
I also recall that the great wildlands had something of a storm/typhoon likes graphics but somebody told me they cut out of eve a while ago.
Adding things like that though would greatly increase the appeal of eve where it should be focused, i.e.: the space part. So lets hope those ideas that where left at the wayside because all the focus was on incarna, now get a second chance. - [yellow]English only please. seriously, that stuff is important CCP.
It is a pain to even undock nowadays. The Boredom is quite harsh, and judging from the plex prices it seems that others are really agreeing with this.
Give us the new nebulae at least, don't wait for winter expansion, hotfix it if needs be, just give us something pretty to look at when we are in ******* space (those old textures look like theyre a decade old, because they are..)

I completely agree. but i think due to the massive discontent CCP got a few months back that they have refocused on FiS content and i'm confident they are working on more variety.
Check out my thread for ideas for variety in eve.

+1 Giant massive stars, Nebs, huge rocks floating about.
increase the size of some stars by as much as 1k. I realize some systems are so big you'd not even notice so increase those stars by 10k.
Currently it feels like most the stars are the size of our moon....bleh...I understand we really do not fly to zero on a stars postion so the being cooked part is moot.
I'd love to jump into a system and have the red super giant take up more then my screen, should I look at it directly.
I'd also like to see large old derelict hulls floating about near gates in some lowsec areas...who knows what they are from or for....just massive...20k min dist from gates. I guess that could get in the way of covops functions...so maybe make them non collidable? meh... |

Agree on almost everything, but at this point I'd like rock fields to not show on grid and only with probes (except rookie systems and exclude Tiers 3 and T2 exhumer from those systems)

Another idea: Stars and planets orbiting black holes. The BH would be harmless to players, and the system wouldn't eventually get sucked in and disappear, but to have a black hole at the center of a system with the star nearest. There would be a trail of matter being pulled off the star and spiraling the BH until reaching the dark center.
This could even be tied in to gameplay as well as some of the other ideas in this thread. Maybe in a system that has a black hole at the center, or a gigantic red giant there would be specific resources or complexes.
Imho Eve needs a face lift. Maybe even a full horizontal expansion. |

+1 Indeed, making the game have more objects which you can not only see but also use in your fights (PVP) would be great. |

The only real problem I have is the distribution of asteroid types/ore. Such things ARE NOT determined by security status, but rather the chemcial makeup of the system's star and the material it is made out of. For instance, our sun is a population I star, made up of heavier metals that resulted from a previous star's demise. As a result, the inner planets and the asteroid belt has a higher quantity of metals and whatnot, and the outer planets are composed mainly of condensed gases. Pop III stars are composed of hydrogen and helium exclusively, and therefore, would not have a metal rich stellar system around it, unlike ours.
This is easily my biggest gripe when it comes to the realism of this game, one that would horrify many if it were ever implemented. The door behind the toon you spin contains the secrets behind life, the universe and everything. |
