There actually appears to be a couple of issues with the "new" hangar. Yes, it's new because it has all that shiny fog everywhere...
Except now we have FPS consistancy issues with the hangar; don't get me wrong, it's less of a resource hog, but it seems to like inserting artificial constraints on the frame rate when you look at the fog for too long. Feature or Bug?
It does go back to usual if you spin your camera for a bit though... CCP Conspiracy! We've given you ship spinning back, so now you'd better start spinning... OR ELSE!
Also, it's now mandatory to go on sisi and ship spin with this in the background.
My guess is that the fog is supposed to keep consistancy between the CQ balcony view with all the fog and the hangar view... But this fog is not very kind to our hardware, and it frankly hurts my eyes - it's too bright! :d |

Captain's Quarters is nice and all, but is vastly inferior to "ship spinning" only on one front: benefit. How is CQ necessary to my life as a pilot--how does it benefit me? Can I jump out of my ship run down to the refinery and jack myself in to personally oversee refining or constructing and get double bonuses? (I know that's a silly example) We as a community play eve because of depth, not because of "shiny". There are a lot prettier games out there, but none are as nuanced as Eve. So yes, I'm glad that ship spinning is back, but I also await the killer thing that makes CQ a must. |

To be honest, simply being able to walk around a station and see areas of it that we usually only hear about in passing (reprocessing plant, cloning bay, station offices) would add a hell of a lot of depth and shiny to the game for me. I'm a roleplayer so I want to see the massive food court they talked about in Jita 4-4. I want to be able to have a shady late-night meeting with one of my friends on a catwalk above a reprocessing plant where the ambient noise is too high for remote eavesdropping equipment to work. I want to be able to hold a meeting with my corpmates and trusted associates around a boardroom table at our corporate headquarters to discuss future plans.
That's all just walking, talking and looking at things. That'd add a hell of a lot of depth to the game for me. Andreus Anthony LeHane Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor Media Consultant, Voyeur Studios |

Be happy and merry CCP for you have pleased your customers!
It is incredible to me that in a game I'm so invested in with so much complexity that I am soo damn excited for spinning a ship, in a hangar. It really is a bunch of little things.
<3
I hope this new path of making the customer happy continues as it has brought about many wonderful things in the past and will only bring more goodies (cough money cough) to you CCP. You get good reviews and more customers by making your existing ones even happier with you.
Come get me when my other shiny little things have finished in the microwave *logs into sisi* |

Thank you so much.
I resubbed 2 accounts because of Hilmar's blog post and resubbed my third account because of this dev blog.
I dearly hope CCP leadership continues to allow CCP devs to do what they do best, make EVE great. (again)

That would all be really neato, and in a perfect world I would say "hell to the yes, give me that" but for right now, CCP is developing 2 other games, and adding in another half of a game as complex as FiS EVE would require a whole lot of development effort that CCP can't afford without either going bankrupt or screwing over it's other invested games (WoD and Dust).
So my thinking is, hey, finish up the super push on Dust and WoD, get those guys making some money. Focus your existing EVE teams on FiS, get even moar money. Then hire more devs instead of canabalizing your existing ones to build up something that is as much a sandbox and as deep and complex as FiS for WiS. Unfortunately, that means EVE will be FiS for a year or two yet. But I would rather have that than FiS teams be canibalized for what is essentially a second game within a game, as much a different game as Dust in some respects. It will mean that CCP will be doing well, and won't be sacrificing it's strongest asset in the process. |

I'm not sure that I like the 'floating text' that's replaced it. It doesn't feel quite right...
This!
Other than that I like what I see, and you guys now have me looking forward to the rest of incarna now that I am no longer mad about having stuff rammed down my throat. |

The new hangar looks epic, but why can't you transition between CQ and the hangar view? Having it either or based on a client switch seems to break immersion quite a bit. It'd be nice to hang out (har har) in hangar view, then move back into CQ, or visa versa at will. |

I hope double clicking the ship opens the ship hangar again....
Dunno why but that is one function I missed A LOT.
Cheers, glad you've got it back ahead of the Winter patch. +1 respect. |

Cheers, glad you've got it back ahead of the Winter patch. +1 respect. Just had a quick check on SiSi and everything seems to work just the same as before, double click opens the cargo hold, drag and drop works, you can flip between CQ and hanger and back and spin your ship to your harts content.
ButGǪ. There are some visual problems with the ship being closer than before, the GÇÿfogGÇÖ can be thicker in some stations, and sometimes zooming out will not really take you back out far enough.
All in all a good start, just needs a bit of tweaking.
