I lost a very expensive raven with arlbest launchers to this bug in a lvl4 mission. They wont reinburse it. If you all demand your first ship to this bug and insist something is done about it by submitting petitions you might get somewhere.

Sadly petitioning will not help much, but as more and more people sign this thread hopefully the devs will get more aware how many people would love this feature.

Been arguing the toss with them for some time. Here is the last email I sent.
Customer (xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) - 08/23/2005 05:13 PM Abraxis, with respect, you are completely ignoring the fact that CCP introduced an undocumented bug with a patch the resulted in the loss of mine and many others ships. The bug was that the indicators which prior to the patch indicated that that you were being warp scrambled and webifyed did not operate after the patch. Resulting in me not knowing I needed to warp out. It couldn't be simpler or more clear cut that the first ships lost to this bug, prior to it's documentation, should be replaced. I don't see why you have a problem with it.
Here is the response I get.
Response ([GM]Sw00sh) - 08/24/2005 06:46 AM Hi william,
We are very sorry, but you have already been asked not to send in another email about this particular incident. We cannot help you out, and by sending in multiple emails about the same case, you are doing nothing except slowing down our response time. We regret to inform you that if you persist in continuing to send in emails about this issue, weŠll have no alternative to placing a permanent "warning" on your account. We hope youŠll be able to take this as our absolute final word on the matter.
Best Regards, [GM]Sw00sh

Yes, CCP is legendary in their refusal to reimburse anything. I suppose they think everyone is just scheming to get a free ship I'm presently going through the motions of being rejected...
Lets hope Quality Assurance can inject some sanity in this piece of software. I'd like to make a general statement here:
Everything that effects the player MUST be known to the player.
Warp scrambling, jamming, webbified, target jammed, dampened, power drained, power boosted, external shield boosted, external armor repaired, agression timer, pvp timer, criminal flagging, etc...
And since all of this stuff can happen simultaneously, the simple small UI days are over.
Anything less is poor design and will keep CCP's petition inbox in a fill-flush cycle. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

WOOT! its on its way
found this in the "in development" section of the patch notes:
Quote: New Effects and Turret systems
Not really a feature, but might bring more combat information that can be displayed on the pilots interface (Like who is scrambling who, put it in the Tactical view perhaps). In any case, this is big enough to belong here, it provides heaps of performance improvements, which is good.
So its something they already have on their minds and a dev is playing with the code for it.
Still think its worth campaining for a short term fix giving an indication of whats is affecting your ship though, it is very important info needed during the heat of battle.
Hope this is good news for all u guys Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots: [2005.02.20 01:08:03] (combat) Your Civilian Light Electron Blaster perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 20.3 damage. |

I lost a cyclone this week in a level 3 mission the night after the hoorid lag cause I thought I was getting no response when I tried to warp due to lag instead of a warpjammer. ( didn't help I was told not to worry about jammers till level 4's so I wasn't bothering with stabs )
You'd think ship designers in the eve universe woulda had the sense to put a big red "WARP DRIVE OFFLINE" indicator light in a conspicuous spot.

well, I hope that if they do put this in (here's hoping!) then they allow us options to see the effects that they removed, using tick boxes on the esc/graphics menu. It was a very cool feature that you could see ingame effects for all actions (webifying etc) and they are gradually removing things for client performance when client hardware is improving all the time. "Anyone remember armour rep effects?"
Aye; they were bugged and would cause game client to allocate heaps of memory every repair cycle, drain all memory of your computer in short order and eventually hard-crash the client o,x

I agree some sort of warning might be useful.

Ok - nothing much happened after that last patch so I m warming this topic up again to gather more followers ;)
In a nutshell - Its a problem having no indication that you re actually warp scrambled, both for NPC and PvPing.
The only way of knowing it is if you manage to get a glimpse at one of those short messages telling you about damage and whatnot but thats not feasable.
One of the best suggestions so far was to change the color of the speedbar once your scrambled.
Sign here if you think that would be neat for you by dropping a reply.
Forum Moderators: Sorry - When I started the thread I didnt think of doing so in Features and Ideas Discussion. If its possible please feel free to move it there.

Aside from the "Something has started to warp scramble something" message, a visual indicator wouldn't hurt (other than the scramble graphic itself would be nice, the same goes for webbing).
And as far as jamming it's a f-ing joke... ships flash yellow like they're targeting you. And IIRC there used to be an on-screen indicator that you were jammed, and for how long, and CCP in their infinite wisdom decided it should be removed? WTF.. put it back in you crazy Icelanders... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree that people need to be aware of what's happening to their ships. The graphics (such as the red nosferatu beam) and sounds are nice but aren't always enough.
Perhaps an EW column could be added to the overview and have little icons next to each players/NPC's name in the list to show what they are doing to you. The icons would look the same as the ones when you activate your modules on targetted ships. I also like the idea of the warp drive/speed bar turning red to show that it is being interfered with and perhaps your cap bar flashing red aswell or something? I mean real aircraft and such have flashing lights and displays to warn the pilots of certain dangers like a 'SAM Warning' etc.
Just my two pennies.

I think there are lots of information missing: - scrambled and strength - webified and strength - EW (turret disruptors, etc) - Weapon damage (it should be shown above the weapon icons so you can see how often you hit/miss) - Enemy damage, maybe in a 3-4 lines mini scrolling window
But I think the problem is that some of this information isnt even sent to the client, so the client is unaware of you being warp scrambled for example (it finds out when you try to warp), which means CCP has some more work to do than just add the GUI.

Signed. Tho I actually see the web effect, nothing tells me if I'm being scrabled unless I want to warp out and I can't (I play with sound off cos of lag). Maybe it is the technology behind the jammers, they jamm you so bad that yoo don't even have the info on who's doing it to you, you're jammed

Webbification and scrambling has always been there, but we need a clear HUD marker. It's been asked many times, although I don't know how har it is to implement I have the feeling it's not too hard.
Bring on the HUD changes!

I would love to have the type of effect (scrambler icon, web icon, dampening, etc) appear on the right just beside the Overview. Right below the icon would be the name of the person and thier distance from you ship. You could ctrl + Lclick the icon to lock them.
Flashing a text message amongst the battespam is not acceptable. It's so important to know who is scrambling and webbing you, thier distance and to have a simple way to lock them.
