I mean, it 'll take longer, but if neither a Deimos or an Eagle can solo a lvl IV Extravaganza then I guess it's just a matter of how long it takes either to do a lvl III...
Too much targets. HAC's may have the firepower, but they don't have the cap endurance to face and kill a gazzillion cruisers, frigates then face the big boss rat.
Maybe on low end L4s you can do this, also with a Zealot or Eagle.
I do however have setup a Zealot and a Deimos for nut*****ers. After wasting a few hundred cruise missiles wiping out the cruiser and frigate opposition, i didn't want to spend another twenty minutes or so and scores of cruise missiles to take out hardened rats. I would need to replenish anyway, so I send back the Raven back to base, and return with a Zealot or Deimos to finish off the big rat.
Fair to say, a Mordu Mammoth goes down a lot faster with much less ammo expense with a Deimos than you do with a Raven with kinetic torps or cruises. A Mordu Mammoth would go down before blasters even well before its missiles could strip the Deimos's own shields. Suffice to say the Deimos is well optimized against kinetic damage which the Mammoth dishes out, and is optimized in delivering kinetic damage which the Mammoth is most vulnerable to.
The thing about the Zealot is that it's not optimized hardened against the damage Sansha does, which is laser, so its thermal and EM. But it does produce the damage that hurts big Sansha the most, which is EM. The Deimos is better protected against laser fire with strong thermal protection, and the EM already with a base 60%, so you just need to add hardeners. But big Sansha like the Overlords tends to be resistant to both kinetic and explosive.
I won't take the Deimos against something like Angel Extravaganza even in a group. It's poorly equipped to deal explosive damage, something the Angels belt out quite well. That goes with missions that forces you to engage Minmatar navy ships. The Zealot is much better for that since it is explosive protected. Likewise Damsel in Distress uses a lot of pseudo Angel types that also belt out a lot of explosive damage.
Just keep in mind that certain HACs do better in some sort of missions while doing poorly on others. It's a matter of matching the innate damage resistance vs. the damage the faction of rats produce.
