See this is what happens when you dumb down Eve CCP - not something to be proud of is it ;)
I must admit I am amazed at the amount of derailment this thread has taken upto now (Chilli dog anyone?)
Does seem a little counter intuative that every derailment post keeps it on the front page longer - wp :)
Remember - people always read the first post first - and not many follow the troll replies unless the first post effects them objectively or emotionally overly in a positive or negative way.
BUT THE FIRST POSTS JOB IS DONE ;)
At the moment this is fine.
Its not too long a thread for people to actually read 2 pages, and therefore, if they care enough will also run through the posts usually skipping the obviously pointless ones.
When derailment really starts to work (once the original mistake of getting this far is reached) is when a thread reaches 4 pages or more. Thats when people who are already interested will flick to the last page, and providing at least one intelligent or thought provoking reply occurs on that page this may keep an interest before the thread finally dies as attention is drawn elsewhere.
Pretty much like the whole SOV propaganda thing - I guess soon people will get bored of hearing about SOV problems and look elsewhere for their fix....
It may even be the point to the original thread which is pointing at the possibility that:
tldr:
- SOV problems are a smokescreen, a political red herring if you will to draw attention from the fact that 2 (or maybe 1) controlling enitity will soon control the whole of null (once solar is out of the way.
The idea is there, and in two pages not much actuall argument against this theory.
I await the response of the community and thank you for your input so far

The big alliances and coalitions are complacent and don't want real fights so they pin all the blame on sov. Sov mechanics are crap, but they're not the sole cause of the sea of blues and crap wargames ideas. Certain groups and individuals speak of how they would get "burned out" in real war, and would stop or reduce the time and effort they spend. I see that as a good thing, because it'll prevent stagnation. How can new FCs, new pilots, new alliances shine if the best way in which they can win out over the old ones - i.e. putting in more time, effort, etc - is removed because the old ones want to keep what they have without having to keep up the effort? Thats what this is all about. |
