ok... the problem i see with this is the lack of spawn consistency. you guys claim you can get a constant insta spawn, yet i cant seem to do this on a consistent basis. why?
here is what i do: kill all the pirates except the last one. the last pirate i kill to 75% and mwd away from it. once i get a good distance i sit and wait for the next spawn.
sometimes this can take 2 min, somtimes 5 min. at that rate no way im making 50 mil in a 24 hr period. if i can create that environment then maybe... please advise.

Ok chainspawn isn't that hard. Requirments are a 4+ spawn, 3 spawns are way to slow.
Then you kill all but one, then wait for any of them to respawn kill all but one, wait for respawn, kill all but one, then kill all but one, and after about 20 minutes they will pop pretty much instantly.
That and I've noticed the faster you kill the better the pop rate. Pretty much to kill them good you need to be able to kill 1 per minute.
There that's my secret, no more complaining about only being able to mine.
Also with todays patch they nerfed this tactic a bit. You have to have 2 or more people killing pirates for them not to target the indy ship. While befor patch if you had a cruiser and an indy they would never target the indy. Now you must have 2 cruisers before they wont target the indy (Thanks CCP). -------- "OMG IT'S TRAMMEL 2.0!!!!" -QBall

Edited by: Digital Sin on 25/07/2003 06:48:53 well, the question stands.
which would be more profitable, a 5x 20k spawn or a 3x 50k spawn? i mean, you dont get as many of the 3x spawns, but they are worth more..... i can either do:
5x sanshas ravishers
or
3x sanshas juggernauts
which would net the most? keep in mind the juggernauts drop better loot. "To be content,to be comfortable, is to be complacent. No one learns anything from pleasure..pain on the other hand is a most efficient instructor" |

My corp sets this up with one of two pirate groups, whichever we find first...
5 drug barons (celestis) - 30k bounties 3 protectors (thorax) - 50k bounties
We use hybrid so we usually run out of ammo after a while even though we go out with cargo hold full of ammo.
But because the bounties are split 2-3 ways being in a gang the money isn't super, super great, but it is very decent.
We never get the spawn so fast that we are killing 1 per minute. I've never seen that happen.

The 5x spawn, you don't really make your money from the rare loot. If you want fast money then you wanna kill the most stuff possible in shortest amount of time.
You can kill 3 hard ones in the same time you kill 6 easy ones. So the hard ones drop 9 itmes (average 3 per kill) while the easy ones drop 18 items. And for the most part 18 items refine for more than 9 items therefore you get rich rather quick. And once again I kill 20k pirates in less than a minute usally 50-55 seconds SOLO. Thats like an Average of 100k every 5 mintues and 1million every 50 minutes. It's actually a bit more than that like 1mil every 45 but I'm rounding up for easy mathmatics haha.
with 4 people, we got to where we where killing around 4-5 20k pirates a minute non stop soo... you guys must be doing something wrong, or be poorly equipted.
Just like miner 1 dont make as much as cu vapor boors. A poorly equipt gunboat wont make as much as much as one with Heavy Modulated Beam Lasers. -------- "OMG IT'S TRAMMEL 2.0!!!!" -QBall

killing them quick isnt the issue... i can 1 round almost anything out there at this point. i kill 3 of em so fast and use half guns to damange the last one. then i sit... and sit... and sit... and THEN another 1-2 come. so maybe it has a timer that they cant spawn more than "x" number of ships in some period of time.
maybe i should slow my killing?

Like Crim said... M y experience is that there are a "minimum respawn time". However, a belt with 4 30k and 2 50k constantly spawning is very good for me.
If I want rare loots, then those belst with only 3 40k is very good. They die fast and usually carry some goodies.
And I don't understand how you guys can get so many cargo cans... Come on, the NPCs fire missiles that blows up cargo cans from previous pirates. I never seem to get more then 20-30 cans. Then the missiles just blow them up in the same rate i kill new pirates.

"Come on, the NPCs fire missiles that blows up cargo cans from previous pirates."
Kill the pirates before they can even attack works best (right after they warp in).
or
Slaughter pirates with out missles (restrictive).
Fun tactic for anihaltor spawns (caracals) is just sit behind an asteroid and let all their missle blow up on them. They also get stuck on the roids (won't go around them) so you can always keep optimum range with out moving. This will definately kill your loot. But if you are light manned you can still take on a 5 spawn with out too much trouble this way.

Edited by: Jarjar on 26/07/2003 03:02:22 "We never get the spawn so fast that we are killing 1 per minute. I've never seen that happen." Actually I believe you'd get better money from being just one man/belt. I killed about 240 drug barons in one of those spawns, and I always had one or more in queue to kill. It only happened two times that I actually had to stop firing for a while. If you're two, and they don't double the spawn rate, then you'd just a) kill them all, ending the spawn b) have to wait until more of them spawn. Neither alternative makes more money than killing, killing, killing them solo. |

How long does those pirate cans last in space. Are they like the cans we drop that last for about a hour or do they last longer like several hours?

Okay, maybe my problem is that I sit about 40k out from them and let them come to me one at a time. Help me to understand. What you're saying is that I should sit as close to their spawn as possible and blast away at them the second they spawn?
And that it's actually better to waste lots of 20-30k pirates than the 40-50k ones that use missiles?

Cans last just about 2 hours in space.
Yes they seem to spawn faster if your closer in.
Missle pirate's suck because their missles blow up loot cans therefor killing your profit. -------- "OMG IT'S TRAMMEL 2.0!!!!" -QBall

Woohoo, figured it out. We did it on a group of 5 Chief Sentinals. It took a while but eventually they just started spawning as soon as one died. We both had 5 anode ion particles on so we were killing just about the second they popped up and they just kept coming and the the cash just kept coming as well.
We placed ourselves as close to their spawn point as we could. No exaggeration, we killed them about 1 every 5-10 seconds. We made about 1 million plus every hour.
Ending the spawn was tough though but we figured it out. Super nice tactic. Thanks for all the advice. I just had a lot of fun in EVE and it was exciting, a word I hardly ever use for EVE.

Yah best way to kill the spawn is get them all really close to death then kill them all within like 5-10 seconds. -------- "OMG IT'S TRAMMEL 2.0!!!!" -QBall

Actually, the way we killed the spawn was to warp out and back in. It reset the cycle and dropped the super-fast spawn rate to normal. Then we just killed the 5 and it was done.
Our Iterion driver was complaining afterwards though :)
