Edited by: QBall on 24/07/2003 05:54:54 Ok for everyone saying pirate killing sucks and that it's not as profitable as mining, or cannot be done. Check this link. http://home.inreach.com/daneq/eve/loot.JPG
Now that will make you about 1.5million in bounties per hour/ PER MEMBER, and around another 750k-1m in loot refines (not counting rare drops that sell for more).
So now you tell me which is better mining or NPC hunting. Quit complaining.
There are always 2 options. 1) Complain 2) Find solutions
I'll tell you right now the people with the most cash in eve are the people with solutions. -------- "OMG IT'S TRAMMEL 2.0!!!!" -QBall

AMEN brother! i NPC farm for a living as well, its great stuff. find your own system with good spawns, camp it out, and you got grade A profit. "To be content,to be comfortable, is to be complacent. No one learns anything from pleasure..pain on the other hand is a most efficient instructor" |

Keep in mind sharing is carring also, because the respawn will adjust to how many people you have, so we've found that 4 ships all similarly equipted will make even more than that figure per hour.
100% solo i make around 1 million every 45 minutes.
with 4 people that is about 175% -------- "OMG IT'S TRAMMEL 2.0!!!!" -QBall

go deep space where u will find 50k pirates not 20k pirates and u will make ALOT more isk/hour, and get alot better rare loot.
2 of us hunting 40-50k pirates made just over 50 mill in 1 day from bountys alone, we just had to blow most of the cc's up because we didnt have a indy

Um... those are Heavy Modulated Beams, as far as I'm aware they are the highest damaging medium laser weapon you can have.
And as for the 50k pirates, yah you will get more in bounties, but the station is in the same system as the belts so... makes looting really easy, basically we have enough mineral for a megathron from pirate loot :P
Just none of us though to buy the darn skil ahead of time so we have a dominix and megathron paid for but no one can pilot haha, damn the fates.
Not bad for a 4 man corporate eh? -------- "OMG IT'S TRAMMEL 2.0!!!!" -QBall

We have hunted the nullifier (50k) type spawns. The money is the same or better when you can haul the loot. It's way better when you take into consideration all the rare loot that builds up.
Another setup that works good is the thorax and 5x 150 dual protos with 5 of the best hybrid dmg mods (2.05 rof ~65dmg per shot) or a combo of 2x 250 protos and 3x 150 dual protos with more reloading but faster turn (250s protos hit for 170 on average).
The damn 150 proto smalls do better dmg, have better rof, and super tracking speed over the 150 proto med duals, but the ammo capacity does not make them suitable for chain killing.

my main question is this: how do you get the constant respawn?
ive tried to do this efficiently but seem to be warping more than hunting looking for pirates. what is the solution?

All right then, so what am I doing wrong. Today I didn't have anything pressing to do so I sat here on the computer all day hunting pirate cruisers and only made about 5 million.
I'm flying a Thorax with 2 250 compressed and 3 Anode Ion Particles.
I kill the pirate cruisers quick enough (30-50k pirates) but I have to jump 10 jumps just to get to the place. I bring 2000 extra ammo with me and kill until I'm out of ammo or my cargo hold is full.
Any tips?
In a couple weeks I should be in a BS and it should be easier.

I'm in a Thorax, I don't want to use lasers :( Plus my med hybrid is trained to 4 while my med laser and projectile is only at 1. I get a bonus for the hybrids, why not use them?

Crimson, I think the general idea is to take on, say 5 cruisers. Destroy 4 of them. Damage the 5th. Before long, the first one you destroyed will return, then the second. (at this point, destroy the 5th guy) And by this time you are out of range of the spawners, and by the time you get back in range, two more have respawned, and it just becomes a loop of spawns.
So just don't kill 'all' of them in one go. (This is easier for me, as I use hybrids, and can't destroy 5 cruisers quickly enough)
Ending the spawn is the real trick ;) And I'll leave that up to you.

good way to end spawn is to warp out. then warp back.. spawn then stops.

Edited by: Endyl on 24/07/2003 10:08:54 In belts I usualy do pipelined kills based on weapons optimal ranges, I stop my ship in a corner and wait till they come, usualy don't even have to move more than 1000m to get the loot.
I do this to spare amo mainly and because I am to lazy to travel to the 4 corners of a belt to empty the cans.
To stop the repop you just have to....*beeep*

Hey, 50 mil is possible... Solo it'd probably take 24 hours of constant hunting with a almost perfect cruiser setup. I'm making about 1 mil/hour right now, and I enjoy it much more than mining crappy ore. SIGH. |

Nice pic... But again you only demonstrate that NPC HUNTING EARNS IN LOWER SEC BELT...not in highter one. It becomes interesting in 0.1 and 0.0 belts.
So, until theren where you get the money for : -ship -equipement -skills
???
For beginners, mining is easy, almost risk free.
I earn more with my brand new character mining in 0.6 belts with a tormentor, than with my main character hunting in a pun for 0.2 belts pirates (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

Pirate hunting is the best way to get ahead after you reach a certain level of skills, ships and weapons but until you reach that point, you are going to be stuck with doing some mining.

I've never mined in retail. I Killed NPCs in my uber Ibis to progress to a Condor, started killing higher-bounty NPCs and progressed to a Merlin, now I could start killing the cruisers and quickly progressed to a Blackbird, then a Moa, etc, etc. And I never had to buy gear which saved me alot of money, especially considering the price charged for 250mm rails initially.
Though now I slap myself for the lack of Energy turret skills.
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

My "mark" in EVE was made in a single 0.6 sec system.
I didn't mine, I didn't trade on the market.
I killed NPCs and used their loot and that from the cans they protected.
Recycled loot was sold as minerals, kept loot was either sold on the market or sold privately.
At that level - using a frigate - its fun and challenging, at times.
There is a plentiful market for frigate weapons amongst the newcomers and where not, the recycled minerals do fine - along with the smaller frigate bounties.
From those days I obtained 19 skill packs from cans - including 3 "ultra-rares" and inumerous other key items,, including blueprints.
My first million and then my first 10 million came from that one system.
And until release I'd never even been into caldari space.
-
Amazing as it may be too some the "quickest" way isn't always the most enjoyable. I would never have done mining (i never have) in place of the NPC_hunting even if i thought it would have paid better and was "safer".

A corporation we are aligned with has been doing npc chain pulling for a long time also. They have several bships and a lot more ppl then our corp. They pull in 50 million a day easily on a modest days work.
It has paid their way to getting both a megathron and apoc blue print original in a short time.
I am taking the whole point of Qball posting this thread is to show ppl all the other possibilities out there to making good fast money outside of trading and mass mining.
I personally think he is to kind and would rather the whiny complainers just die and go away with out recieving any help/suggestion.

booo get off the high horse, lamer people who need help shouldnt be shunted, we all started as ppl without a clue at one point. would ou rather that you were shunted at that point, ok maybe u didnt complain but perhaps you have more of a capability to brainstorm new ways of making money, the newbs are still hittin the learning curve hard. ive done this kind of mining for ages now too but ive still reccomended it to people who are in need of help, id consider this to be more leet than ignoring ppl who need the help, as alot of ppl do , and they are who mostly seem to be populating the eve universe. lighten up and give them your support, not ur condemning last words. After being a member of the miner race in another MMOG i made a point of not mining in Eve. This was not always true, i mined a couple of times, but i made my living mostly of NPC hunting, first in a 0.8 than a 0.6, a 0.2. and .1. At this point i got a cruiser and went to 0.0. PC Pirate got me, and i havent been there since. I was back in a Rifter for a while.
But this is what i do. Besides not being boring as mining (team mining may be slightly less boring than solo...). On a 0.2 i believe i get something like 300k a trip, thats from bounties and refined loot.
This is something you can do on a reasonably equiped top frigate (less money for trip, because of less cargo, but faster trips, so it almost evens out)
