I would have to agree, one thing that World of Warcraft does is thier entire interface is setup so that it is easily changable to any user's liking. There are countless mods hundreds of them that you can mix and match untill you get the user interface you want.
It would be nice to have optional GUI's, even if it means putting it in the format where we as the players have to design and publish our own. -----------------------------------------------

Yes, and PLEASE for the LOVE of it, remove that horrible damage box, it REALLY does only reduce the immersion and make the game look more like a text based MUD.
Add the damage on the target in a little hit damage box there instead, and keep the logs..
The hitbox serves NO use other than being in the way of my viewing screen!!

Yes, I would have loved to move the overview and "current system" areas so many times. -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |

Implementing a fully configurable HUD is quite a lot of work, but as someone said, at the very least get rid of that awful popup window showing damage and other info.
One good way would be to make the HUD much more complex and complete, and then have the option to hide/show each part. For example, take the pic I suggested, add some other suggestions in this thread to it, and make it possible to turn on/off each part of the HUD. This would make the HUD fairly configurable, without the complexity of a fully configurable HUD.

Wihout wanting to say signed, most if not all ideas in this thread would help with the overall information flow from the screen to the user. The current popup solution is flawed, because as soon as you're under fire from a couple of sources and fire from 4+ modules yourself, you can't see 75% of the messages, and even the log seems to not record events occuring almost simultaneously very well. Also, for some reason playing with an opened log causes a really bad drop of FPS and overall playability. ______________ Join the Family |
