You should. Our ethics are exceptionally well crafted.

Oh look at that, we do agree!
So as long as clones are not going to be given any exception, when shall we start implanting the killswitch in your head, Mister Clone? Or have you decided not to go that route?
What about the exception the Empires seem to be making? Some clone soldiers are bad, so wipe them all out? That sounds like a massive exception to me. Capsuleers create all sorts of havoc but yet the Empires do not wipe out their favorite tool. Anyone who is not opposing this wholesale slaughter of ground based clone soldiers is at best pushing a double standard and at worst a soul dead monstrosity. |

Generation one from wormhole tech, uncontrollable results.
Generation two reverse-engineered by our dear Empires. A measure of control and continued use.

If PIE has an issue with what they consider piracy they could always... oh nevermind.

Mr. Athena, it is regrettable that the Federation has come to distrust the State to such a degree that it cannot even phantom cooperation against a mutual threat. This border incident should be a wake-up call to all men and women of good will who still desire to have an honourable peace. If the Caldari had done anything to show the Charon was a mutual threat, there may have been cooperation. The way it looked at the time was the Caldari were chancing a freighter that could have been engaging in legitimate commerce. Irrelevant of their intentions, they were behaving like pirates and were treated as such. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Easy answer. The majority of the people living in one of the big four are fanatical and ignorant sheep that calmly accept whatever their leaders say as the truth and blindly follow their government's commands. The Caldari do it under some pretense of a greater good and ultimate final goal, the Ammar interpret it as God's will, the Minimatar, out of revenge and spite for their oppressors, and the Gallente simply because their hedonism has consumed their minds. I note two sentences in the press release:
"It was initially created using salvage from beyond the wormholes, though we have developed our own variant since then."
"The technology used for the original soldiers is flawed. Those who have been implanted with it invariably go mad."
It would appear that the only soldiers using the sleeper tech are the issue. Those using "our own variants" are not a problem and I assume not included in the purge.
So please everyone, stop talking like this is a war against any and all immortal soldiers. Its not, its just against some small subset of them, those that use the original technology and have gone insane. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

While the origin of the technology is hardly surprising, I think most of us have been suspecting as much for a long while now, I find it interesting someone actually came out and admitted to it. Also not surprised, considering the origin, it all went wrong. The Sleeper civilization is still in many ways far beyond us technologically and things going badly wrong when they try to integrate into ours it is hardly to be unexpected. When Jove gave us the Capsule we encountered plenty of problems as well. One would have thought they'd have learned from that before employing the technology en mass. But of course now we have to deal with the consequences.
I can't help but wonder though.

What kind of salvage are we talking about here? Doesn't seem likely it came from the Sleeper drones, so where did they find it? Seems a rather vague way of putting it considering how open Roden is being about what is happening. In this dark void we are like brilliant stars, holding within us both the creative and destructive power to bring a new dawn upon worlds or plunge them into eternal darkness. |

OH, stop the presses! They're only trying to slaughter a minority out of the whole! I feel much better now that I'm assured that the genocide will be so limited . . .

Its not clear if "purge" needs to be "kill". It could also mean round them up and purge them of the implants and their madness. Although based on Caldari actions they seem to be taking the "kill" approach. Personally Id rather see them cured, or at least have their implants swapped over to the new ones so they can have the career they originally signed up for.
But if these few insane soldiers start attacking civilians, then deadly action is acceptable. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Luminaire GÇô The Federation developed technology to clone and transfer the consciousness of humans without the use of a neural burner and was using them for warfare, President Jacus Roden revealed in an emergency announcement today. The president revealed that the Federation, following in the recent steps of the Caldari State and Minmatar Republic, has determined these soldiers are extremely dangerous and have to be contained for the safety of the cluster.
So when is Roden going to pay royalties and penalties to the Empire for patent abuse?

I somehow doubt the Empire took out a recognized patent on quasi-immortal foot soldiers. |
