Its getting to be 2 years since I got my first smartphone in the UK, full of wide eyed optimism I got a Samsung Omia 7. A windows phone.
Perhaps a mistake payong for the Beta of Windows 8.
Moving onwards I have the opportunity at the end of my contract to get a new one to stick with T-Mobile, or as they now all themselves EE after merging with Orange and becoming the one Network to monopolize everything... nearly.
I know asking here will get the full spectrum of gadgetry and mobile ****, so round 1, iPhone or anything else? I think this one's likely to be in the everything else category partly because I'm wary of Apple. The new Nokia Lumia 920 and the final Windows 8 series looks promising, but then so did Windows 7 phones at release, but it unfortunately didn't hit critical mass to be self sustaining. Then we have the Android phones, with more versions than you can shake a stick at, though the Samsung Galaxy S3 is likely to take a price cut as the S4 comes into production.
Apps, never got to use them, the Win7 platform got no love beyond the Blizzard authenticator and Angry birds for me. Only real bonus for the iPhone series I can see is native integration with iTunes, but theres more than a few ways to get that library onto the other platforms.
Any advice? Open to all suggestions including going back to my old Nokia 1112, the battery lasted over a week on that thing.

I'd suggest an Android phone, the hardware is generally good, the gui works well and app availability is good, and when they start to show their age a custom ROM gives them a new lease of life.

Get a tablet (I would suggest a Asus-Google Nexus 7 4G version, link it to your phone plan) and a rugged less-smart phone as a separate device (which sounds as if you already have it in the Nokia 1112). http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/User:Akita_T T2 BPO poll: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=114789 Buying this: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=147098 |
