WARNING : MAJOR MAJOR SPOILERS
Not even sure if we're authorized to post this but being as the NDA on Dust 514 is gone, I suppose this is "public information" enough to warrant going up on the forums.
HOWEVER, I think someone made a -big- mistake on this morning's update.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJhiOzNc1Jg
Video isn't mine, but it gets the point across. Skip to 2:00. I'll just say that this battle took place on Caldari Prime and leave you all to your own imagination.
Sorry if this was posted up already. Rather exciting. |

I am not sure what you are getting at. Are you saying that in the future the Titan, found in Caldari Prime, will crash into the planet?
If so, then I find this unlikely. Firstly, because there are more than one Titan and this could be just a different one. I am also still not sure what it actually is that one can see at 2:00. Secondly, the maps in DUST514 are random generated and this could be just a coincidence.
If you think it is something else then, please, enlighten me. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

IMO the whole thing just looked "meh" generic FPS shooter. The crashed ship in the background is probably just that...background and the OP is reading far too much into it. Two of the defining characteristics of a carebear are wanting other players to play the way the carebear wants and whining on the forums for the game to change when they don't. Yet I see more threads on these forums from gankers than I do miners whining about wanting the game changed to suit them. |

however, i don't pay much attention to live events so i could be mistaken. Want miners to move from high sec to null sec? Then give them a reason to join player corps, and stop null sec grav sites being worth less isk/hour than high sec asteroid belts. Really isn't difficult. |

This IS special. First of all, there is no random map generation right now. All there is, is different moods. (Day night, Dusk Dawn, etc'). These battles were under Mercenary contracts, which are only seeded through CCP right now. The name of the battles were "Test Caldari prime *Match type name here*". And no, there are no randomly generated backgrounds, so no Titans, or meteors or whatever. There was also ash and smoke everywhere, which again doesn't happen normally. And lastly there were actually debris on the battlefield on flames. Lolwut: "Yes, you kids don't know how lucky you have it. These days noobs get given free tackle ships for PvP but back in the old days the only tackle ships we were given were our pods. We had to use them to bump their rookie ships out of alignment to stop them warping off." |

If you think it is something else then, please, enlighten me. CCP has been running DUST events on planets. They've said they want to expand this system to be more than random matches at predetermined planets.
So far, most if not all DUST fights on major PF planets have been such events.
CCP are doing a major storyline move right now - Uprising. This has especially been marked by Caldari and Gallente conflicts.
At this point, DUST maps are not randomly generated - there are only a handful of static maps at the moment.
Then there's the circumstantial evidence: The test is set on Caldari Prime, it's a Leviathan titan, and the mercs are contracted by the FDU and State Protectorate - all indicating that it's not some random match. If it was a random test, what are the odds that all of these factors would line up? And it wasn't just a single test match either.

http://dust514.com/beta/news/2013/03/the-uprising-breaking-news-ground-fighting-erupts-on-caldari-prime/
Coincidence that a Leviathan class Titan is seen crashed into the surface of Caldari Prime in a "test" mercenary match and the fact that there is a Leviathan class Titan in orbit of Caldari Prime (and has been for some time) in spite of all the recent battles taking place in and around Luminaire... I think it's safe to say that this isn't just a coincidence.
But, believe what you want - but don't act surprised if the Leviathan over Caldari Prime suddenly vanishes in the next few days/weeks and we're given a story-arch supporting it's disappearance.
Hell, there's a chance the Federal Defense Union could lose and the Leviathan stays up there - the battle is still on-going so it's all up for conspiracy theory. I posted this up because I thought that it was a strong theory and had plenty of evidence but the tin-foil hattery in this game has apparently riddled even the strongest evidence with "maybe it's something else and you're just crazy".

Seeing it in the background is cool. but at some point it would absolutely stellar if a titan killed in orbit would crash INTO one fo the districts, giving the owning corp the ability to either salvage it for materials/resources to sell back to EVE, or KEEP IT and build a base inside the crashed titan-fortress wreck. would be better than a freakin bunker. |

The Leviathan Titan is nearly 20km in length. If it crashed vertically into the ground it would look A LOT LARGER. If it's anything significant it could be the remains of the skyscraper that was recently blown up according to the news reports in the EVE universe.
But yeah, even in a destroyed state, the Leviathan would be much larger and would of leveled and destroyed everything within an extremely large radius if it crashed into Caldari Prime upon destruction.
Also, I'm sure there would of been a news report about it by now for us RPers to bicker about in the Intergalactic Summit.

In fact, you are not reading enough into it.
Who says that the Titan has to hit the ground like an asteroid at some insane speed of like 50 km per second? It could have anti-gravitational fields and simply drop down at a low speed and then sink into the ground by its own mass, which would cause enough havoc, but could leave it standing like a mountain range.
What is a bit unusual is the clean air, which allows us to see the whole thing as clear as in the video. Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling. |

If somethign that big crashed, It would puncture the crost of the planet and obliterate life in a whoel continent most likely. Imagine the earthquake of that thing impact!
There is backgroudn on thatin EVE lore. After the Emrpess defeated one of the elder fleets, the population of the planet suffered for months with the falling of naglfar hulls over the planet destroying cities in the process (and naglfars are only 4 km long) |

assuming caldari prime has earthlike gravity and considering a titan mass and density which are likely going to be orders of magnitude higher than any rocky or ice asteroid ever, a titan falling onto a planet would probably as said before ,go straight trough the planet crust and incinerate a huge portion of the planet, now thing is, we don't know how far that titan on the video is, it could be hundreds of kilometers away and thus look smaller than it actually is.

either way... I hope they have salvagers in dust... also, assuming there is still some people and systems alive/operational onboard the titan, its highly likely that they KNOW what would happen if a titan crashed planetside, and built it specifically to avoid that.
think using its shield-array or warp engine or whtnot to try and slow its fall to avoid massive civilian collateral. militarys do stuff like that to look good. because it turns into "caldari navy attempts to prevent collateral damage in titan crash" and "gallente navy endangers civilian populace by dropping a 20km chunk of space-steel on them".
but yeah, id assume they would try and use SOMETHING to slow the titans fall, if not to rpevent civilian casualties, then at LEAST to keep as much of the ship intact as possible for salvage. this would also explain why its now a tower instead of a pile of rubble. |

think there's a dev blog or something too. Want miners to move from high sec to null sec? Then give them a reason to join player corps, and stop null sec grav sites being worth less isk/hour than high sec asteroid belts. Really isn't difficult. |

Too small? of just far away?
Those who haven't seen the latest DevBlog might turn their magic crystal balls that way.

Whitehound wrote:I am not sure what you are getting at.
