You can buy thirteen plex for two hundred dollars which at current market prices is equivelent to approx. 5.2 billion isk. IN his letter he (CEO) had discussed how he was adamant about not being able to buy the equivilent to power, or a edge over other pilots. Am I missing something? When I started playing I assumed that a plex was a way for pilot having a hard time irl to keep playing, and that by trading isk for gametime meant the isk went to ccp, in effect dissolved. If I were some reason addicted to eve, and say coughed up a thousand dollars for 260 billion, how does that not equate to buying power? I have spent along time accumulating my skills, and with that much isk I could easily overpower my counterpart in equivilent sp's that has no cash to blow. |

People buy supercaps and high end characters. I spent -ú400 on plex and brought a 50mil character to start me off. Nothing comes out of thin air you get plex someone else had to earn and if someone tried to sell too many the price would just crash to nothing. Its is more trading power cuz the person able to run 5 accounts cuz of plex gets more power. |

Someone has give up his time or ships (power) , so in grand scheme things absolutely nothing changed.
There isn't suddenly one more person that become more powerful out of thin air. |

much of the reason for plex was to discourage isk traders. If there is a way in-game to legaly and safely turn RL money in isk then isk traders have a harder time of it. Also, as JPC has pointed out, Money>plex>isk means that when you buy plex with the RL money that translates to someone else givingyou the isk that they earned. If I was better at making isk I'd play for free too.

PLEX really does make good business sense... if, like me, you've ever checked out any of the RMT sites out of curiosity, you will have noticed that CCP is actually selling PLEX for cheaper then the RMTs are selling ISK. Essentially, if you want to turn real-world money into ISK, you'll get more ISK out of the deal if you do so legally, through CCP. As intended, that's killing off the RMTs... which is a good thing for all concerned, really. |

Just because you have money doesn't mean you have power.
There are two golden rules in EvE: 1) He who has the gold makes the rules. 2) A fool and his money are soon parted.
Sure you "could" flex your wallet and hire a merc corp to do your bidding, but who's to say that merc corp won't just run off with your money? You don't have the power to hold them on their end of the deal because you're just one person.
You could hire a second merc corp to punish the first, but if the second catches wind that you were scammed so easily, they can just scam you too. Your giant mountain of money doesn't grant you one bit of power if you don't have the intelligence, street smarts and backbone to use it properly.
