it'll end when you get an antivirus that isn't acting like a woman with a pms issue. Want miners to move from high sec to null sec? Then give them a reason to join player corps, and stop null sec grav sites being worth less isk/hour than high sec asteroid belts. Really isn't difficult. |

That's been replaced by MS security essentials, and tbh it's pretty good.

indeed, that's what i have on my computers. Want miners to move from high sec to null sec? Then give them a reason to join player corps, and stop null sec grav sites being worth less isk/hour than high sec asteroid belts. Really isn't difficult. |

Avast. Never failed me. EVER. I really don't see why people go to other Anti-virus(Is it "I" or "ses"?). This works wonderfully for me and for anyone else that has ever tried Avast from what people tell me. And its FREE, the paid stuff is non essential unless you're that paranoid guy who must have the full protection. Lolwut: "Yes, you kids don't know how lucky you have it. These days noobs get given free tackle ships for PvP but back in the old days the only tackle ships we were given were our pods. We had to use them to bump their rookie ships out of alignment to stop them warping off." |

If Kaspersky Internet Security is "a woman with a pms issues" then MS security is like "a man who refuses to wrap up but knows when there is a problem... after the fact." Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

The best AV is Common SenseGäó
Though it helps having a secondary one just in case. I like MSE because it provides decent protection while not actually hogging system resources. I don't think any half competent systems administrator would leave security up to MSE, even if it's internal, with no connectivity to the world (web) ... specially in banking where the paranoia level on the SAs is at record high levels ;) |

*lol* Virus Scanner.
In case it might not be your scanner, try unplugging/replugging your modem.
A few of those i've met with connection issues (including myself) had them resolved after doing this.
Also ... why not simply change settings of your crappy scanner ? |

It is trivial to bypass any known virus scanner. You just need to encode (read: obfuscate) the code segment so it can't be analyzed as a file. There are many scientific papers on it. The AV companies admit as much. There is even commercial software for it (check "TheMida"). If you modify free "packers" a bit, an AV has no chance.
Antivirus is at the end of the day snake oil. Malware protection begins with a functioning brain and ends with a working Security Kernel (not the one in Windows, that one is broken to appease dumb users). |
