Edited by: Trevedian on 29/08/2005 03:40:30 I was wondering what Faction Battleship players think is the most useful in combat? Please back up your choice with some reasons...
I have owned a Bhaalgorn, Vindicator, and Machariel. All of these ships have advantages over Tech 1 BS, namely the extra bonus.
A Bhaalgorn has a huge cap and if fitted with Officer Cap Rechargers, can run 3 Large Armor Repairers constantly, without using NOS. Pretty impresive but it costs alot of isk to outfit properly, and it was just too radical a change from what I'm used to expecting from a Battleship. Fit a Gotan's Webifier and you can web at 52.5km with max skills.
The Vindicator is the baddest ship at close range in-game imo. The extra midslot is much more useful than the Navy Megathron with and extra lowslot IMO (Plus the Vindi gets the mwd bonus).
My personal favorite, is the Machariel becase it has 3 very relevant bonus's. 25% bonus to Large Projectile Turret ROF, 25% bonus to Large Projectile Damage, 25% bonus to Large Projectile Turret tracking speed, with max skills. I use a gank fitting on the Machariel, and with the extra low slot it hits harder than any Tempest out there. Plus when your PVPing in a Faction BS that costs this much to replace, I find it much more enjoyable to gank from afar and snipe with an insane damage dealer like my Mach. Getting close to people in my Vindicator was too nerve wrecking.
What say you?

The Machariel, but then I like things as fast as I am.
But if I ever got a slow ship, def would be the Bhaalgorn.

Most usefull to me means that it is very versitile. The bagelhorn fits that perfectly.
Solo PVP: Against BS's it's an easy call, any faction BS is good here....but against smaller targets the Bagelhorn has an OBVIOUS advantage. Webber and NOS bonuses. 2 named/faction webs on an inty + 2 NOS + 6 megapulse = dead inty/af/frig. Same thing with HAC's, the wouldn't be able to stand up to 2 heavy named/faction NOS on this thing.
Fleet PVP: Again, superior firepower against BS's, and supurb anti tackler/cruiser/HAC defense.
I don't think there's another BS in game that's this versitile against so many (all) classes of ships with 1 single loadout.
Versitility = Usability

I'd say Machariel. For fleet battles it will be the ultimate damage dealer with 1400 IIs, and you can kit it for a lethal closerange setup too.

Just sell a couple of your Luther Vandross Tachs m8... I agree that the Bhaalgorn is the most verasatile. I thought I was badass in my Vindicator until I started talking to hellwarrior, who is a 1337 setup whiz kid... But now he's mad at me cuz I didn't buy his Tobia's 1400mm's
But who wants to bite their nails and tank in a Faction Battleship anyways? I still say going all gank in the Machariel is the way to be... Just be ready to cry

Hey Trev :)
i say Mach better for fleet battles.
Navy Apoc rules with the extra low slot and the uber Shields/armor.
only problem it doesnt have a extra bonus like the rest.
but i go for Mach that baby owns
Bhaalgron owns too but i think the Mach is best cause the damage it can do.

I'd say a machariel is the best.
However, I'm surprised at how many people mention taking a machariel into a fleet...
Certainly the machariel would be good in a fleet, but a close range setup benefits most from the tracking and speed of a mach. And getting called primary while in your machariel sucks.
The machariel is the ultimate solo hunter ship.

Trevedian,
I agree they all have their things going for them, however like you I agree that I like the Machariel so far the most. Flexibility, hitting power, speed that can be boosted silly fast.
Machariel so far to me is best.

Why would anyone use a faction bs in a fleet
It's like having one named gun out of a rack of 30-40.

I have to agree with Meridius ( something I'm not particulary fond off ) A single faction battleship is hardly gonna matter, it just hurts a helluvalot more too lose, although if you don't care...
So I'd say vindicator, for the quite simple fact it is the most devastating solo battleship around. That 5th med is so freaking awesome, and so is having a decent amount of cap. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Yeah and you wanna know why? coz NOS are fkin way overpowered and need nerfing 1 Module VS that many types of ships and works 100% of the time?
Lame imo
But the bahl is a nice ship tho Heavy NOS 4tw! |

hasn't got the best firepower, but i think a passive tanked rattlesnake could be an interesting idea - would get huge hitpoints and recharge

You can't use a Bhaalgorn like that... You don't get the ROF bonus... The Bhaalgorn might look like a blood spattered Arma, but it is really much more like an Apoc.
HW is teh pwn though...

U are aware that if u have a faction bs ina fleet of normal bs's the enemy fleet will make you a first target ? Immagine a battle with 30 bs in each side, if enemy warp on your fleet (due to c.op help) who think they will hit first?
5 secs and bye bye...

Seems like the Rattlesnake has been forgotten in all this, that can be because of either its very cerb like bonusses, but it could also be because they are still a rare sight on escrow. EW-suspects and support; like Meridius said, who cares if one out of 40 battleships in that bunch is actually a 'named' one..?
It's not worth losing the battle over...

I think you mean the Megathron Navy Issue.
I mean the Megathron Federate Issue, and if you've ever seen it on Sisi, it wipes the floor with all BShips.

The Megathron Federate Issue fetched more isk than any ship in EVE and I'm a huge fan of Mega's. I feel privileged to have flown the Imperial Apocalypse on a few occassions when it was in the possession of Elisium Dammar. (I'm paranoid and wouldn't trust even my mother with that ship, YOOOOOUNK!)
Should we even mention the Jove Enigma here? http://www.eve-i.com/home/dancer/page/page_shipexplorer.php
It looks like a Dramiel/Daredevil except it has a whooping 25000 powergrid! But its been a long, long, time since I've seen it and we may never see it again.
