The name 'corax' also means raven, and Caldari already has one of those! In addition the ostrich is a spectacular creature who's prowess in battle is matched by few other creatures; In other words, the perfect name for a destroyer. When you think 'Caldari' 2 things should pop into your head: 1. Honor 2. Bird named ships The name ostrich fulfills both of these requirements. As a closing note I'd like to clarify, this is not a joke, nor a troll. The ostrich has been a graceful and wise creature for many years and has earned its place in the world of internet spaceships.

Emu and Cassowary are sort of the ostriches re-tarded cousins, like baloney is to meat. Besides Ostrich is spectacularly more fun to say and sounds better when said with various accents.

Kinda hard to get more honour than that. (I've heard that the reason those two animals are on the coat of arms is because they never back down from a fight, but that may be due to their physical incapabability of walking backwards.)

See... when I think of an Ostrich I think, "big bird with black and white plumage... runs fast and sticks its head in the ground." When I think Cassowary I think, "'smaller' big bird with colorful plumage... not fast, but known to be aggressive and disembowel things that get too close." Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.
