Try reset button?
I dont know the specifics of "jump starting" routers. Or flashing them. probably want to go to the site see if they have a forum with your question on it. Other than that ask the manufacture directly. |

Would help if you posted the exact name and type of the router, and possibly the serial number. Belkin makes more than a few routers.
Why did things go black? Was there a power failure?
Did you try to update it with the correct firmware? Oftentimes routers may differ by only one character (for example, type 300A-GTH and type 301A-GTH), installing one firmware on the other may kill it completely, like it would with flashing the wrong bios on a PC motherboard aswell (or any other firmware/bios for that matter). |

If it refuses to turn on then the firmware is probably incorrect and it is now bricked. Try the reset to factory button that is hidden somewhere on the unit. How to build a PC for EVE thread (by Akira T) http://eve-search.com/thread/1559734-0/page/1

Looks like it got bricked.
Where it a Linksys, you can jump pins 15 and 16 on the chip where the "brain" is... but it's not a Linksys...
Your best bet is to look for the websites of those who like to put their own firmware into routers. There's an entire world of alternative router firmwares that let you run Linux on them, use than as repeaters, hacking drones, etc.
There you might find that someone has a solution for your router type. The reason is not for you to put new firmware on it, but it's very common for people who do this to "brick the router" and they will list steps for what to do in cases like this. Some routers have a "hard reset" procedure and there are a lot of tools out there that let you reprogram routers through your own system through the network line.
Good luck.
One of my favorite hobbies is to get old Linksys routers from Goodwill for 6 or 7 dollars and put WRT on them - practically a Linux system by itself that lets you set the router to operate as a repeater, or boos the power output, and other fun stuff. Roughly 3' away from me I have a pile if Linksys routers.

Belkin F5D7230-4
The Belkin F5D7230-4 can NOT be bricked unless you do "mtd -r erase pmon".
Case 1: You uploaded a firmware file and unplugged the router in the process of the upgrade. The power button now blinks at a steady pace and the WLAN light does not come on. Fix: Somehow the IP address is now 192.168.2.1. Just TFTP to it on boot or use the Linksys tool as stated above. Assign your computer a static IP address of 192.168.2.101 and plug your network cable in. Unplug the power from the router, start TFTP or the Linksys tool, and then plug the power back into the router. It should flash. Wait 3 minutes for it to finish flashing, then power cycle it and do a 30/30/30 hard reset. Be sure to use DD-WRT build 10068 or later.

or try this:

You most likely can fix it, I would really contact Belkin first though, they can probably provide you detailed instructions for your specific router instead of guessing from messing about on the internet.
You can also try holding the reset, unplugging it with the reset button held in, plug it back in while still holding the reset, releasing the reset and unplugging it, then plugging it again, then press and release the reset one more time. |
