I sugest you to run pingplotter during this problem time to find out on wich step on the line your packages get lost.

running ping plotter now seems to be CCP network where the packet loss happens:
iar2.tsd.cw.net is where it begins.

you can verify if it's your network, or ISP NOC by pinging something else. Try pinging www.google.com when the issue happens. In fact, open two prompts at once and ping google, while pinging eve server.
If google doesn't spike, but eve does, it's eve's server(s) or a piece of gear on your route to the eve servers, but not you or your ISP's NOC.
Try this and post back with results.

Exact same issue here.
Except.
1.) Pings to google remain constant and unproblematic 2.) I get disconnected not lagged. 3.) It really has made eve unplayable for me.
Its been going on the past few weeks.

have to agree its making the game very very unplayable something with the cold war patch or aging hardware.

Edited by: Ninna on 30/08/2005 22:34:07 This actually happened to a friend of mine also. But not me, and its quite strange, cause we are on a Lan.
I experienced a little bit of lag while he have massive ammount of lag. We thought it might be cause of his corp having massive ammount of corp mails, but I joined them and now have the same corp mails as he do and dont experience any lag to speak of.
weird stuff
Edit: He got a 3400 amd 64 something (Nvidia), and I have a 3.2 ghz Intel (ATI card) dont know if any of that relate to the lag though

Thats what happens when you cram 14 thousand people on one server I guess...
I've been getting lag over the past 2 weeks as well... but there might be other reasons for that, I gotta check later this week. ___________

I really dont think it is ur client. The last month or so since patch, i get dropped 5-10 times a day, market dosent work half the time, lag on jumpins, lag on killmails, cant check corp description, etc, etc, etc.... The game seems to be very unstable especially this last week with people getting stuck on login screen. We had 3 people last nite lose connection and not be able to log back til they rebooted and its happened alot in a week.
SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE FIXED BADLY!!!!!!!!!!!! -----------------------------------------------

Just a note, but if your connection is faster than 400kbps up or down, and you're using a USB modem, be sure that your USB ports are USB 2.0 or better. Else your nice speedy 2mbps connection is capped at 400kbps thanks to your USB 1 ports.
If you lack USB 2 ports, most DSL and Cable modems come equipped with a 10/100baseT Ethernet port as well which you can use to connect through a network card in your PC. That would get your cap up to at least 10mbps, which for most cases, is more than fast enough.

Edited by: John Panek on 31/08/2005 09:22:33 Greetings,
this problem has been present for more than two weeks. There were also some posts made. I live in the Czech Republic and when I started to play EVE 26 days ago, all was fine. But lately the lag is terrible. And it is not my ISP, as other pings work perfectly.
The game server is simply overloaded and they are not able to fix it.
