The 'Install' API key links exposed via https://support.eveonline.com/api/Key/ActivateInstallLinks also appear to be broken in the new design - it's be handy to have those back at some point! |

Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know we are paying close attention to this thread and many of the issues being identified have fixes being worked on. Much of this revolves around URL rewrites so that legacy links will continue to function as much as is possible, this would cover, for example, the dev blog links issue and also the api key predefined masks issue.
The predefined api key functionality has been reproduced in the new site, for example:
[OLD FORMAT]: https://support.eveonline.com/api/key/createpredefined/8388672
can be achieved by using:
[NEW FORMAT]: https://community.eveonline.com/support/api-key/CreatePredefined?accessMask=8388672
I'd like to reiterate that we are committed to our 3rd party developers and we are working to implement a rewrite rule to make the transition as easy as possible. In other words, so the old format can be used too.
As CCP Alice said in the dev blog, this has been a major upgrade from a complex legacy site to a newly deployed site using new technology.
We understand that there will be some frustrations in this immediate period as we work to fix emerging issues but please bear with us.
It is our intention to support legacy content as fully as we are able.
Please do continue to draw our attention to any problems in this thread.
Thanks again for your patience, DZ

Never really used the old community site, the new one looks good though :) Anyway, the link to 'Dev Blogs' from the Eve Gate page no longer works;

The wormhole you were looking for has collapsed. Scanning for a new one may take some time.
Oh, and if you are iterating on Eve Gate any time soon, a little more functionality for corporation forums would be really appreciated, kthnxbye :) 'I don't want to be a puffin' |

Cyerus wrote:Looks good, except for one major disappointment from the 3rd party developers community. The links to CreatePredefined keys are NOT working anymore, meaning that for many applications people have to create the keys manually now. I'd expect more support for the 3rd party developers community, as they seem to be the last people you care about. Please fix it! Example (old situation link); https://support.eveonline.com/api/key/createpredefined/8388672
These old links should all be working again! Thanks for pointing this out. |

in the interests of providing more info, the link I was talking about (to the character page where one could download the CSVs for wallet info) was located here
http://community.eveonline.com/character/skilltree.asp?characterID=[my character ID number]
I suspect there are API-based ways to download that info (or so a quick Googlin' tells me) but I'd rather not reinvent my particular wheel if it's just a matter of finding out the new URL for that feature. |

Visual theme is nice, but christ on a bike, how big do you want your margins to be for pages like the patch notes or dev blogs? ~10% of the page either side?
They're far too big and only result in making you scroll more when you're actually reading the content. It's the same issue on the forums.
Please, someone halve the size of the margins. |

At first I thought that the community website was broken, or that it just didn't fully load, but apparently CCP has decided to break the last readable and usable section of their website.
First you messed up the main eve online website, then the wiki, and now the community website.
I guess I'll just have to start reading the eve online news through RSS feeds.
It turns out that RSS feeds don't work any more so I won't be able to use that either.

Thats a good spot, I did a quick search and looks like most of the old links still work. Shouldn't make too much of a difference Google should index the new pages pretty fast what will be interesting is how it will treat the two unique URLs without any canonicalisation.
Don't know why they didn't just 301 redirect the old pages, that would have passed 90% of the old page link juice. It could be a good time for interested parties to gain rankings for general EVE informational searches. Really surprised EN24 and TMDC haven't got info loaded wikis on them to increase adsense revenue. |

Just did a quick Google for 'site:www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp' over 900k results thats going to be one hell of a lot of pissed off Googlers over the next few days. Think their sys admins would cry if they tried to redirect every page, only saving grace is that Google will sort it out eventually.
Unfortunately Google does cache for quite some time, I've been waiting for content I'm migrating from one site to another (starting fresh without bad links) to deindex for 2 months. Pity they changed old forum location. |

The web team has delivered a very stylish product once again; kudos for that, it looks good.
It drives me bonkers that the current notions for web design revolve around pages that must be scrolled through to see all current or new front page content. Without the pretty pictures, everything on the front page could easily be seen without using the scroll wheel at all.
It is my opinion that unnecessarily large images and wide content spacing make for an inferior web browsing experience. |

Doh, I just noticed that there's more content if you scroll the page...
Didn't know that the page was scrollable and so was completely missing the lower half. THX for pointing that out. The Greater Fool Bar-áis now open for business, 24/7. Come and have drinks and fun somewhere between RL and New Eden!-áIngame chat channel: The Greater Fool Bar |

Hakaru Ishiwara wrote:You can't be serious about the new API page layout. You are making your users scroll when rendering the page on a 1600x1200 display + browser (firefox, Win7) combination with 6 or more keys / rows? Just imagine all of the scrolling required on the more common 1920 x 1080 or smaller screens...
Please find a way to downsize the masthead so that it uses less vertical screen real estate on pages that are intended to be useful or display content. Alternatively, please find a way so that this newly scalable site design optimally uses the available web browser space. More or less this.
The API key page is an utter mess. Totally cluttered on a 1920x1200 Screen. Also interface elements are much too big with default zoom.
Cannot double click / copy paste any more, since descriptive text is selected in the process and the user id and verification key have to be edited afterwards to make them work.
I really hope you can fix this . Remove insurance. |
