So what's the Hawk like?
I want to know about it so I can make a good decision on training for it.
It looks cool at least.
Can you have 3 guns and 2 missile turrets on it? Or 2 and 2 or 3 & 1 Etc...
Also does it have those orange stripes or are they silver like the concord ones?

Hawk has more durability than the harpy.
firepower of it is almost as equal to the merlin tho...

i got one becouse of the pretty colors... to hell with funtionality when it looks like it dos 
the harpy gets the "vanila"-look award for all the AFs...
looks like a merlin without stickers...

I love me' little Hawk. Would be better if I stripped out the Tech II pulse and replaced them with Tech II Rails (got to train up rails in that case) but all in all it's a pretty tough little ship. I didn't find a spawn in 0.1 or up that it couldn't tank and (eventually) take out.

It really depends on whether you PvP or not.
For PvE, even ships considered pure crap for PvP can have their use and do well, the Hawk is one of them.
I have 14 hawks (yes, fourteen), I stockpiled them before the missile overhaul, hoping light missiles would be worth using against small ships.
It turned out to be as great a disappointment as the Manticore 
Before patch, you could deal good damage to other assault frigates (with a cap injector and medium shield booster) if they didn't have a MWD, thanks to the 4 available damage types, and do pretty well against interceptors, under favorable circumstances if you could catch them in web range.
Now, things have changed.
Lights hit every time, even without webber, but for the damage they deal you better fit your Hawk with 3 rails, which makes it a poor man's Harpy.
Their price has dropped dramatically for that reason: 13 millions was very cheap before patch, 15 being the norm, now I've seen some for sale for 7.5 millions and the regular price is below the Crow price (which has also dropped from 15 to 11). It's possible people are getting rid of them, so it's a good time to buy if you plan on using it against rats.
Against bigger targets, from cruisers and up, the Hawk could be good if it had more launcher hardpoints. Like all mixed bonuses ships, it's an inferior design, because you can't fit both a mag stab for the guns and a ballistic control for the missiles, so you usually end up without any damage mod at all and do half the damage of a Harpy which has the only drawback to be expensive, being probably the best Caldari ship at the moment (gunships for the win!).
It still has the best survivability of all frigates and can tank any missile boat all day if not NOSed, which in itself isn't right neither.

Its damage output is now alot more ballanced with the hapry if you have good missile skills.
I have both and have to admit they are great depending on what im using them for, i tend to use my harpys for pvp alot, but i noticed after the missile nerf/ changes my hawk had better raneg on the missiles and damage output and made it a bigger ***** to fight.

harpy is better but its close
harpy is fire power, hawk is tank, but as we all know the emp whole in your shields will be found out in pvp, i dont even fit a tank on either of them and just fit mods to do more damage as quickly as posible

In pvp it's tanking power doesn't really make up for it's pathetic damage output. Sure it can soak up alot of damage but that doesn't matter if you can't break your opponents tank. It does spank almost every other af though and can be very nice in frig gangs.
It can tank all day if you can afford a gistii booster. I like to use two.

i own em both =) the harpy tends to be far more effective in offence while the hawk can do some impressive dmg it just doesnt push out the same dps my harpy does with equiv skills for both ;)

I love the Hawk because it can have 2 Launchers and 2 turrets and great shields for its size.
This layout is my style and I love it.
Missle's and Gun's together, that's Caldari to me, and I am Caldari.
Plus all my girlfriends love riding in it. When I open the door to let them in and they see the blue dome light go on, they'er like butta!!!
It's got a great mp3 player and XM Radio in it too... Sporty!!!
