Might have something to do with expanding to China. The pregnant server, that is. The server issues themselves were tracked down and a hotfix was applied earlier today. The recent spate of node crashes and morning sickness should no longer occur.

Wait, don't tell me that EVE is finally gonna break down and go dual-server. Although for expanding into the Chinese market that may not be a poor idea... -------------- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?

Who is China and why does he want to play?
Must be pretty important to maybe get his own sevver.

If it was to be dual server then it shouldn't affect the current server would it?
Never heard anything about the devs considering to start a new server tbh.

Edited by: Jex Jast on 31/08/2005 22:54:29 The Japanese thing, for those who cannot read hiragana (a Japanese script), says:
anata wa ahou desu (correct me if I messed up, I'm a beginner)
But what on Earth (or in Japan specifically) does it mean?
You are...?
Edit: And about the dual server thing, I thought they used subservers anyway, are they making a whole new main server for China??? _____________________________________________ Kills: 0 Repeats: 0 Bounties Collected...you guessed it.

It says "You are *something*." "ahou" confounds me, athough I suspect it's meant to be some kind of riff on "********", in which case it should A) be "asuhoru", and B) be in Katakana as an English loan-word, DS, you noob. -------------- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?

"ahou" means idiot in japanese. Since the japanese are originally a polite culture, they don't have any (or very few) swear words or insults.
But i suppose everyone knows "baka" which basically means the same.

seem to be forgetting that eve runs on "nodes" off the one server - and its dynamic as well. Therefore u wouldnt need another server just more nodes applied as the systems and player base expands - ie open up jove space add a few hundred more nodes.

Sorry for asking something that surely already been answered...but I've been away from the game for a long while. CCP are expanding EVE into China, correct? Are the chinese going to play in our shard or are they getting one for themselves? I'm curious because I played L2 and saw how the asians ruined that game. I'd hate to see the EVE chats getting spammd with chinese. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. oh, right, I completely missed the "wa" character should be written as "ha" which still confounds me to no end...and I can't read kanji yet so I can't say anything for/against that... and I asked one of my friends who has been taking Japanese and she thought "ahou" meant, literally, ass/donkey and that the person who said it was therefore mistaken as it doesnt mean what it does in english, used in that context...but I dont know and I wont take sides. she was the one who introduced me to baka too...
we can just make a Japanese thread if we wanna continue discussion on that...it'd of course be in the "Out of Pod" board... _____________________________________________ Kills: 0 Repeats: 0 Bounties Collected...you guessed it.

Edited by: babyblue on 01/09/2005 21:08:46 Don't quote me, but won't certain parts of the Eve Universe be banned by the chinese authorities for being too democratic? And so, which Alliances would Chinese players be best advised to join?
I read an interesting story about Pop Idol being banned in China next year for this very reason. Now my personal feelings on the matter are that I don't think you need a reason to ban Pop Idol. At least, it's that crap it should have been banned on principle in any case.
