So when you jump into your freighter the only skill it cares about is if you have Freighters 1 trained. It doesn't care about all the new requirements others need to get to, in order to train Freighters 1. I know the requirements now.... What I'm saying is if I train ASC1 and fly it around tomorrow... Come Odyssey I will need ASCV to fly. Will I be granted ASCV so I can still fly my ship?
Wrong.
Today, you need Freighter 1 to fly the ship. Tomorrow, you will need Freighter 1 to fly the ship.
The pre-reqs for Freighter 1 will change, but that doesn't matter.
Not all pre-reqs are created equal, and this is how nested pre-reqs work. Same thing happens if you get Carrier 1, get podded and lose BS 5: you can still fly a Carrier because BS V is not a pre-req for flying the carrier, just for training the skill. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

And look at the two pre-reqs to fly the ship listed in your picture.
Before: Freighter I, Adv Spaceship I After: Freighter I, Adv Spaceship I This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

Xercodo wrote:To anyone that comes along later and wonders "Why does this even work like this int he first place?!" It's because of SP loss from bad clones. Say you are able to fly the carrier archon. According to this the archon needs Amarr battleship 5 and Drone interfacing 5 for the carrier skill. However the only skills that the carrier itself need are Capital Ships I, Amarr Carrier I, and Jump Drive Operation I. If you were to get podded today and lose Amarr Battleship 5 you will still be able to fly an archon just fine because the lack of Amarr Battleship 5 doesn't magically stop the Carrier skill from working. However you would lose the ability to fly a Redeemer because the ship itself specifically requires that skill to level 5.
For anyone wondering why CCP would set up a system like this protect players who forgot to update their clones: they didn't.
IIRC SP-Saving Medical clones did not always exist. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

Othran wrote:RubyPorto wrote:IIRC SP-Saving Medical clones did not always exist. They didn't exist at all in early 2003 - there was no concept of a medical/jump clone in-game then. First time I got podded (for older players podded means pod-killed, unlike newer players who think it means your ship died) I lost about a week's training. That was around about June 2003 - so in my first month I lost 25% of the SP I had trained. Wasn't happy about it at the time but TBH I think that's what has kept me going in Eve over the years - the idea that catastrophic loss is just around the corner if you don't pay attention to stuff, and even if you do then that guarantees nothing. Getting a bit concerned that the game is getting a bit too warm'n'fuzzy these days right enough.....
I was pretty sure, but then I couldn't find any sources and started second guessing myself... so I hedged... with weasel words. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.
