I had 6 425mm railgun 2's equipped with 2 mahg stabs. then I replaced one mag stab with a pdu2 and fitted an extra 425mm 2. my question is: Did my dmg or dps or whatever its called benefit from this? or should I go back to the 6x 425mm's again?
greatly appriceative for an anwser

Why not fit 7x 425mm II and 7 dmg mods?
Seriously i don't know why you need ship with so little dmg mods. Anyway mega sux at npcing.

Edited by: Orvas Dren on 03/09/2005 17:55:17 Ignore the above poster, that was coming from somewhere other than their head obviously. On Topic: If I remember correctly, adding another gun adds more damage than just adding damagemod to the current set of guns.
In the end, the question is, what can you fit with 7 guns, and what can't you? If you don't need as much tank, and like a 7th T2 gun, the damage may offset the need for a tank.
What I wanna know is how you managed to get to T2 Large Hybrids and didn't learn this on your own? Or thought of trying it out as a test... =============================================== The Nest

actually i've been playing very scarecly for the last year. so I've gained ALOT of SP but not much ingame experience. Anyway I feel the need to explain my setup and its use just so you know why you flame me. I use it for mission running(lvl4) and it works like a dream. 7x 425mm Rail 2's 1x Tracking comp 2/1x sensor booster 2. this switch is dependant on if I wanna snipe from 130km or just 90km 3x TS cap rechargers 1x Large rep 2 1x Med rep 2 2x TS armour active hardeners(swithcing depending on rat type) 1x PDU 2 1x Mag stab 2 1X TS cap relay
there ya go. maybe some new input now or just the regular flame :)

Edited by: Naughty Boy on 03/09/2005 18:44:47 * The first mag stab t2 gives you 22,9 % extra dps; * The second mag stab t2 gives you 15.1 % extra dps (over a lone mag stab t2 setup); * A 7th gun gives you (7/6)-1 = 16.6 % extra dps.
7 guns with 1 mag stab t2 does more dps than 6 guns with 2 mag stab t2 by a slight margin. There's a higher cap usage/damage ratio aswel, nothing too important though. Also, more ammo is used for the same damage.

About Lukec's comment, and "why" it was there: you usually can't have decent sniper+tank setup (it's not that it doesn't work, it's that it doesn't work well). Either, you use tank+close range, either you use long range guns+damage mods. A tanked sniper isn't doing much damage, while not being well tanked either.
Sincerly Yours, The Naughty Noy.
Also remember that you can use something else in your now empty high slot for extra dmg. SO just se it as what you find most important, low slot or high slot.

Megathrons dont suck at NPCing, must be your setup that sucks in that case. Ever since i came back to EVE a few months ago iŠve used it for hunting rats, and weŠre not talking about pesky cruiser spawns. Sofar iŠve killed Dual General/warlord+Seraphim spawn without having to warp out, just plan it good and use tactics.
My current rat setup.
High: 7x425Scout /1xR-laucher+def. Med: 2xSb-II / 2xTC-II. Low: 2xWCS / 1xCPR / 4xMagstab-II.
This setup rips through everything like a hot chainsaw through butter, pops cruisers with 2 volleys. Mind you that i was inactive in EVE for 6 months so my skill are not that łber either.
Also, when going up against those rare but mad BS spawns, i sometimes remove the 7:th 425 and fit 1 extra Def-launcher and let them both go hot - not much that hits me with 2 of those spraying defenders everyother sec.
I might have ATUK in my tag, but i have OC in my DNA

The RailThron is a great npc'er I use a similar set up 7 x 425 II's 8 slot empty
1 x Tracking Computer II 3 x Cap Recharger II
1 x Large Armour Rep 1 x Medium Armour Rep 3 x Racial Hardners 1 x PDU 1 x Damage Mod Tank and guns run permantly. 425's deal good damage with anti-matter between 30 and 75km. (would I deal more damage in a different ship with the same skill level? I will never know)

IM using a charming and age old mega setup for npcing that's doing just fine against everything ive encountered yet, including officer spawns, triple short range BS spawns with frigs, spawns coming in on top of your head etc.
7x 425II, 1x rocket launcher 1x sensor booster, 1x named tracking comp, 1x AB, 1x cap recharger II. 1x large repairer, 2x hardener, 2x damage mod, tracking enhancer, PDUII
Now, its possible to change that tracking enhancer for another damage mod if you get another faction hardener instead of just a named one. Or if you get a -5% cpu implant instead of a -3% one. Or... etc. It's a tight one tho, dont truy ftting it without maxed skills and named gear to lower your cpu need.
Also, it works great.Enough damage to kill 10 mill isk NPC's, enough tank to outlast awkward spawns, enough drones to kill the frigates quite easily.

I was under the impression that mid slot computers & low slot enhancers did not work together or was that finally fixed?

With my skills I get about 5 dps more raw damage with 1 dmg mod and 7 425 II than with 2 dmg mods and 6 425 II. In % the difference is little over 1% in favor of 7 guns + 1 dmg mod.

all the posts i have seen you make recently have been similar to this. you manage to be simultaneously patronising, sarcastic, demeaning and dismissive. you may or may not mean this but you do.
you take the stance of an almighty veteran who knows everything about the game and people who know less are clearly stupid.
its posts like this that ruin / have ruined these forums as players who ask for advice are berated.

Wasn't Megatron the leader of the Decepticons in TransFormers?
Well, I had Megatron first edition while growing up... and so from what I recall here's where his damage comes from.
As we can see here, Megatron's Dimensions, the barrel on the cannon for his arm has a 3 foot 6 inch diameter. Speculating the amount of the diameter to deduce from the total to make for integrity of the gun and most importantly, the blast from such a large round... I'd say an inch. Recalling the agility of all the Transformers, best element for their metallic structure must be the extremely strong and light Titanium or Aluminum. I suggest there is perhaps an Titanium Aluminum alloy for Megatron because he's less grey and more white.
So, we have a chamber diameter of about 3'4". That is an extremely large round. We don't need to analyze this any further, a hunk of metal that big is going to hurt something pretty badly, if not knock the Earth out of orbit. That's larger than any artillary peace in all of history!
Now, when Mr. Megatron transforms into a gun, well, his legs are 18'4". His legs compose the handle of the gun so they also contain the ammunition. In the diagram above, the barrel rides up Megatrons back in robot form, so we have a measurement of the calibur. The barrel has a diameter of 2 feet. Again, take off two inches from the diameter and we are left with a 1'10" round! The length of the whole round is just under 3 feet (again, from measurements given within the diagram), so we aren't talking short rounds, these are high-powered rounds that are 1'10" in diameter. Mr. Megatron probably carries hollow-points so they do have significant stopping power.
So. Here's the run down.
Megatron when in Robot. Has a arm cannon that can launch a 3'4" round for short distances.
Megatron when in Gun mode. Has a high-powered 1'10" round that can be fired and hit a target at extreme distances.
There you have it! \o/ Where Megatron get's his damage output!

Galvatron > Megatron...
Now the part people will hate me for: I prefer blasters!
I'm runnin 4x Modal Mega Neutrons, 3x diminishing nos and a tractor. Named (Domination) Ab or MWD depending on the mission. Tracking comp and 2 cap rechargers (pallisade and t2) Domination repper, 2x true sansha EANM, 2x 1600 RT plates and an Emergency DC system (BTW, it's had a paint job too)
I know this is thread about Snipers, but I always favored close combat...

Um... I run 7 x 425mm II and 3 damage mods personally. The bigger question is how you could get enough skillpoints to use large tech2 rails without having even basic knowledge such as what damage or dps is.

You need a tracking comp to hit 130km range with t2 425mm rails ? My optimal with spike is 130km without any tracking mods on whatsoever, and then I have considerable falloff after that.
