Why do idiots like the removed it a bit more (name changed to protect the idiots)corp, camp near a gate and blast players from afar without any fear. Easy really!.
They exploit the game rules.
They have camped at a site in the Lonetrek region where newbie players have to pass through for missions, especially storyline missions... anyway.
They gate camp in a .4 area sfe from the games rules of attck from the games law enforcement agencies, but how.... all around the system, Aunenen, are .5's and above, especially Nonni which low and behold has a series of Naval bases.... and the map lights up like a christmas with kills when u look.
Why am i whining, well some of you will say nothing wrong with it, i say there is.. they are picking on newbie players with fear of getting caught, no fair really, they gank players knowing it will be difficult to get them back. I admit outside of a major races area/regions of control i will say it is fair, because stronger players will be out there and the fight would be fair... not 3 shots from a big 1200mm or some thing, when i am in a Merlin, a fair ship in that region fighting pirates up close... not from 160+km's.
So how do i feel about this. It should be stopped in the regions above .2 especially in systems surrounded by .5's and above. I dont thing a pvp protection will work, even one that lessens over time. but I do feel that a good way of limiting or stopping these would be to incorporate Naval Patrols to areas of mass gankking. I mean if we have access to the information, how come the races Naval forces dont, lets get them involved in stopping this unfair practise inside racial controlled empire ares, outside these areas then the pirates can pirate to their foul hearts are content.
Lets make the game fair in racial regions for all players. so they can venture forth, without having to constantly have to upgrade every few days, there are enough NPC's to gank us without players doing it...
It happens in the real world, why not in here. If the law enforcement hears about Crime next door they dont sit and look at it and say we cant go in here, they tackle the issue by the horns.
GANK THE GANKERS.
This should upset some people and some may agree, or i am on my own.

Don't expect anything less, if you were around 2 years ago, then you would know it was once worse..
Atleast now you see the screen load in.
Days of old they camped 0.4 next to starter systems on jump in points before they made it gate to gate.
Needless to say, the jump in point was lagged to buggery with cans, mines, drones, anything that would deploy basicaly.
This made them hard to attack as they would bugger you before your screen loaded in, and ofcourse anyone that was 'jumping in' from said starter system.
-------- 23
Arguing that namechanging would promote griefing is somewhat moot given the current FFA on that front.

Easy fix to protect real newbs:
Newb corps cannot go into 0.6 or below. Empire NPC faction corps cannot go into 0.3 or below. Pirate NPC faction corps cannot go into 0.3 or above.
This will keep the newbs in their newb corp from venturing into instagank territory until they know enough to (as in, joining a real corp and learning some real tactics).
This will get all of those ALT SPIES out of NPC corps and into ones you can war on.

Noone exploit game rules unless GM\Dev state so.
If you will RTFM instead of whining then you will understand that avoiding sentry fire is not an exploit.

random npc naval ships jumping in from time to time (not to often, but atleast somtimes) woud actualy be intresting... wouden't have to be the invunerble type, but actualy beatble npc's that woud still give the annoying things sitting all those kilomters awey killing you without realy giving you mutch chance somthing to be worried about
just like the rats in asteroid belts, but less frequent and with a bigger chance of appering if a system had a high amount of ships destroyed this woud naturaly only aply to the close-to-empire space gates

repeat after me:
NPC response to player inadequacy is daft
Ok,
Repeat it a dozen times and then go form a gang and chase em off.
Or, of course, instead of asking to perfectly valid (albeit too easy and exceedingly lame) tactic to be nerfed, ask CCP to edit missions to real newbs (not the ones pretending to be one two years into the game), don't get storyline missions in low sec.
voila, everybody happy. _______________________________________________

Exploit (verb): to make use of.
They are making use of the game rules, to kill people. What was said was entirely accurate - if misleading because on the net, we tend to use exploit as a noun, meaning illegal use of a BUG. That's not the only thing it can mean

The solution to this is to petition a bug when a new person gets sent into lowsec for a newb mission.
It's a catch22 though. Newb wont know any better so will just go in and get hammered.

Edited by: Derron Bel on 03/09/2005 22:21:55 Just bump that system to 0.5.
I think allowed piracy should be size-graduated. IE, frigates can pirate in 0.5, AFs/Intys/AFs in 0.4, HACs/Battleships in 0.3 and below. That would help reduce snipe-gankage. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

Randomly jumping Navy patrols in 0.3-0.4 would be interesting. But I, for example, fear tanking campers much more than a sniping campers. Snipers sacrifice too much of dmg and tank in order to get large range increase. They can't scramble you and if confronted by your group, they usually leave. I also can't get the logic for sniping as the sniper can't get the loot unless he has buddy ready to pick it nearby, so, it's kill for the sake of kill only.
In any case, early storyline and especially tutorial missions shouldn't be sending players to low sec.

so called experienced players, have had time to study the system, un like those just joined.
Therefore they understand the rules, and bend them to just before breaking point, and exploit them to fit their means.
I am not wondering into a "A BIG BOY AREA" merely trying to transit through.
You the so called Mature and experienced gankers know this... maybe victims your self, i am merely calling for Game aid in sorting these low areas inside Empire/racial space out, to level the experince for all.i am should noone likes to be ganked a few times in a week, but camping in any form is an exploit... no matter the game. how do you expect people to stay, and for the pirates get fatter.
I am not saying stopping altogether, there is a space for it, in places outside empire/racial command, it only seems fair.
Add your comment please.

Not again
Same difference, if you don't want to be killed don't go there. There is no one making you. Also, avoid camp hotspots like Aununen, go to less populated areas, check the map for podkills etc, look out for yourself.
The best thing about this game is that it doesn't hold your hand and kiss you better when you get jumped, you have to look out for yourself. Some people like this, some people can handle this, that's the kind of people who do well in this game. Some people are like 'OMG I WANT TO GO IN THE PVP AREA WITH NO RISK OF BEING ENGAGED IN PVP!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111111111oneone'. Go play WOW

He's talking about Aunenen, it's camped often by, Tundragon, Teddybears and Bonecollectors, Usually by 6-7 Sniping BS's, they have atleast 2 Alt's in the Corp, Softice Inc. 1 Is named Lady Guild, the second begins with a Z iirc.
They have the system BM'd to hell, they have 2/3 warp in points at all the gates and primarily use the top station, sometimes you can cath them on their own during the day and drop relativly easly to skilled players, all you need to do is use Insta BM's for the gates / stations in the system, deffinatly DO NOT mine in the system, you will get killed, however, BM's alone will not be enough for industrials / cruisers / battleships, they have very fast locking times and if there is enough of them they will kill you before you goto warp, they also use the tactic of sitting 1 of themselves on the gae if a bs is known to be jumping in, this bs is tanked to hell and has warp scramblers, if you're unlucky to have been scouted by an alt then your introuble on the other side, where possible use WCS's + nano fibres to manouve quickly + warp away.

The game was designed to be realistic to an actual space universe environment, and provide a gradual risk vs reward system. If gate camping was nerfed then all travel in empire would be 100% safe. This would not follow the gradual risk/reward idea that ccp wants, and frankly would make the game lame. In a realistic setting, you can't completely seperate yourself from the danger of your fellow man unless you do something extreme like live next to a police station.. heh, or a nice "neighborhood". Same way in Eve, if you dont like getting shot at, stay out of the ghetto of Lonetrek, find missions that dont take you into those areas, or dont accept the mission. Just dont whine about it please. ---------------------------------------
