Thank you both for your support. For Caldari, regardless of your position, actions like this cannot be tolerated. And as Alexis has illustrated, it is unacceptable even to other Gallente. I was, perhaps, incorrect in assuming that this is his goal. It is the result though, not the intent that matters. Caldari tags maen Caldari Navy ships downed. That he is buying them encourages attacks on Caldari Naval Vessels. ------------------ Silver Night Director - Production and Science

But it will certainly have that effect. Mercenaries will target Caldari Naval vessels and kill crew to get the tags.

Since he is also purchasing small arms, my guess would be that he is going to have a group of people impersonating Caldari officers and causing violence.
Watch the news for heinous crimes being blamed on Caldari officers. I bet we'll be seeing something soon.

I hope you are aware that these tags mostly come from Caldari pilots who are trespassing the borders into Gallente space trying to set up an invasion force within our borders?
Some hours ago I had to down at least 10 Caldari vessels who were protecting a convoy with marines in Oursulaert. Useless to say that I was attacked totally unprovoked.
So please tell your government to stop sending troops deep into Gallente territory and stop them from these kamikaze attacks. If you succeed in this there will be no more Caldari dog tags on the market....

It is well known that the Caldari and Gallente navies regualrly intrude on eachother's space. I had to disuade some 30 Gallente captains from visiting again any time soon just 3 days ago. However actively buying tags effectively puts a price on the head of every captain of the Caldari Navy, wherever they are.
I am not questioning the right of countries to defend their territory agaisnt outside naval ships. I am questioning the right of a citizen of an empire, or Federation, to put what is effectively a bounty on naval officer's heads. I am just turing the tables on this fellow to discourage it. ------------------ Silver Night Director - Production and Science

It should be additonally noted that not all of the dog tags being sold to this 'gentlemen' were acquired in a manner that involved the legal defense of Gallente Space. With such a 'price' on Caldari pilot's officer's, so to speak, it can only be assumed that a number of mercenaries will want to 'cash in' on said price. While I myself have had to deal with illegal incursions into Gallente Space, I don't relish the idea of having to deal with them. We should be thinking about hands across the border, not guns and dog tags. I'd like to believe this bounty is a step in the right direction.
I'd also like to note that Jevako Niedboux also appears to be working for a rather influential client. Though the possibilities are many, it should be considered that individuals such as the infamous 'Broker' would surely benefit from any level of Caldari-Gallente conflict. Said individual is NOT above inciting a war for his own profit. ~~~<*>~~~<*>~~~<*>~~~<*>~~~<*>~~~<*>~~~<*>~~~<*>~~~ Doctor Alexis Ayala GHINC - Gallente Horizons Incorporated

While I in no way support the sale of Navy dogtags on the open market for the various aforementioned reasons, perhaps it's a bit hasty in stamping a massive bounty for the death of this individual. If he is indeed part of a larger terrorist unit with intentions of disrupting the tentative peace between our two societies, I would reccommend his capture instead so that further information may be gleaned from his interrogation.
Just a suggestion.

On my latest visit as a guest lecturer at the State War Academy I was a little disturbed to hear this now being used by the young cadets as the latest "ironic" compliment to inicate that someone has proven themsleves to be a true Caldari.
Suffice to say that I asked the lecturers to speak with the cadets about officers not gloating about kills made in the line of duty.
I am just wondering if they picked it up following this Galnet discussion thread.

Edited by: Silver Night on 15/09/2005 21:23:01 It isn't for violence against Caldari Navy pilots that this reward is being posted. It is because he is encouraging that violence. One man in a ship does far less damage than the same man recruiting dozens of others to do his dirty work for him.
Really, this is showing a lot of reserve on the part of the Caldari pilot community. Instead of going after his hirelings, the only person that is being threatened is Niedboux. After all, I think rather than attacking the many individuals, it is better to remove the reason that they would be hunting for Caldari Naval officers to begin with.
I would think you would applaud this Ly'Sol. Instead of meeting violence with equal violence, we are avoiding the trap of retaliation of equal or greater magnitude and mindless reflex. Instead we are reacting in kind in a much less violent way, and avoiding the trap of inciting some sort of broader conflict that must be this man's aim. The marines and small arms have other uses. But there is no use for the tags of a naval officer beyond sabotage of naval facilities(assuming a vast amount of other work forging identities, making it senseless to buy the insignias and let everyone know what you are doing) and trophys. The only purpose to buying them publically, therefore, would seem to be to cause greater animosity between Gallente and Caldari, especially pilots.
Even assuming you are one of those who so decry the doctor's death(which I admit I am not), the situation is completely different. The doctor wasn't purposefully trying to cause conflict and greater hatred. He was simply short sighted, honorless, and ungrateful. He also didn't personally encourage violence against the Caldari Navy.
As to his whereabouts, when I next have access to an agent, I will check and post newer information.I believe the buy orders are in Placid.
Edit:Going to send you a small reward for info Paladine. Remember, anyone with credible info post here. If its good, a bit of a reward will follow. ------------------ Silver Night Director - Production and Science

It would be a shame if he is the broker, as he would be bringing about the end of a legacy by ever leaving his dock.
While converting this filt of a merchant into a frozen corpse in space would bring relief to many, I am almost curious as to see what he thinks he will do with the goods he is purchasing. Surely he does not think those tags will get his mercenaries into our facilities((OOC: Names and numbers from tags would be marked in military/corporate databases when people are MIA/KIA, and if the tags suddenly showed up on people, it would set off alarms))? Just because other races are lax in their security, doesn't mean that we are as well.
((OOC: I've never been much of a fan of the broker in any form, it's really just a glorification of the ability to use alts to scam and corp thief without players having any way of tracking it to the source. The stories are good, but they represent a problem Eve has had for some time now...))

Lyserious, my respect for you is unwavering, but I cannot agree with turning a blind eye to these inciteful activities. Mr. Niedboux has had plenty of opportunities to reneg on his tradings and yet he continues to do so. For that he, and those that may follow in his wake, must be aware of the consequences of such actions. Unfortunately, due to the importance and relevance of this situation, that consequence is more extreme than indeed many of us would wish.
The death of those who dedicate their lives to protecting the Caldari State for the sake of business is almost as great a crime as the murders themselves.

It is a free market. Just because the man peddles in unsavory items doesnt make him a criminal. If anything all of you are guilty of killing someone at some time and I think its rather hypocritical to call to arms because he deals in the uglier side of the Pod Pilots.

Well, you accuse me of reacting out of emotion, and now this? I weigh the life of a single man against the lives of thousands and find that the balance tips toward destroying that single life. Even if we were to forget for a moment that the pilots he is encouraging the deaths of by paying for them are Caldari (and at this point there are Minmatar as well, so its not a huge stretch), he is paying pilots to kill people. I, and those others who have contributed are simply paying anyone who would stop this. Its true the method is his death, since he chooses not to turn himself in, but that is the option that results in the least loss of life. I am therefore baffled as to why you continue to oppose it. ------------------ Silver Night Director - Production and Science Help the State, Make tens of millions! The Summi |

Yes how dare we feel anger that this man is offering ISK amounts that make it worthwhile for people to hunt our fellow Caldari. For shame, how dare we take offense to this...
I doubt (m)any care how you feel. If you have no problem with his actions, which clearly have an even darker intent, then fine. Don't expect the rest of us to simply sit and let it happen though.
Find one possibly reason he could have a need for military Id and firearms, that isn't detrimental to the State, and your words might carry weight.

When he was offering a bounty for Caldari tags, we were playing by his same rules. He was free to put a bounty on those tags, for whatever reason he may have, and we were free to put a price on his head, for whatever reason we may have.
Cool business.
That has changed. The moment he put a price on Minmatar Navy tags, he became a criminal: such tags are contraband inside gallente space.
And as a personal note: i make a decent profit on the markets of different regions with all kinds of legal goods. To try to put this scum and honest traders as myself at the same level saying 'we are all trying to make a living' is nearly insulting. -

Callin this man scum because he is bold enough to enter a market where there is high margins seems a bit like jealously. Follow the isk, you want to honor those fallen officers put money into the States economy.
You want to stop him? Create competition. Im sure that bounty you people have placed on his head would be able to buy plenty of tags from him. Run him out of business, far more effecitive than a cloneing.
Oh and dont get me started on the knee jerk ultra liberal reactions of CAIN, your bunch is about as bad as nationalist right winged Gallente. (no offense to the Federals)

Interesting you put it this way.
Have you ever traded Navy tags? It is not a profitable enterprise... then why is this scum paying so much?
This scum puts a bounty on Caldari lives as cold business... I put one on his head as cold business, too.
And since I suspect this scum wants the tags for something else, I increase the bounty... just in case.
We were caught unprepared, once. Will not happen again.
*stares at Ly'sol*
Now, let me reverse the questioning here. If you think what this scum does is correct, why do you preach on us? Were are doing the exact same thing he is doing. He is entitled to put a bounty on our head, should he decide it's the correct business strategy... -

To whoever collects on this creep I'll pay top dollar (That's 100k ISK, top dollar is limited based on my necessary operating capital and all) for an audio recording of the hunter telling him the following.
"Just business, nothing personal."
A bonus if someone can get a holoreel of the expression on his face.

Edited by: Silver Night on 28/09/2005 20:28:19 Ms. Kovac, please Eve-mail me regarding whether you would like your portion of the reward to be included in the total or not. I can include it as an aside, of possible "Total for death" and a second Total, including your contribution, for capture. Assuming the other contributers don't mind of course.
The reward is currently for his death, since as I have mentioned, capture is essentially impossible with the means availible to the pilots who peruse the Gal-Net. Capture would be ideal however, even if it is impossible. It leaves far more possibilities open. Death is pretty final.
Anyway, let me know. I hadn't really counted on this growing so much, but I am willing to try and accomodate evryone who will contribute as much as I possible can.
On a slightly different topic, Herko makes the pertinent points better than I possibly could. If you don't want to slog through all that I wrote, just read his. Its much more interesting anyway. ------------------ Silver Night Director -Production and Science Help the State, Make tens of millions! The Summit |

i protect him not as a slaver or pirate but as a trader myself it can be easy to be attacked for trading

Well, isn't this lovely.
There are bigger problems than joe random merchant selling dogtags, you people are a waste of space sometimes.
If your need for a cause is this desperate, then you need to review your position in the hierarchy, because life is obviously boring you.

Did i do it? Nope, so why not benifit from the aftermath?

Since when would a Trader tell people a niche in the market?

<Laughs> There is no isk in it for you, your just following the morality banner my comrade. Do you have proof of him actually killing Caldari?

<frowns> Hey, do not say that. That is ENITIRLY different. Do not try to pluk my heartstrings Herko.
Quote: If you think what this scum does is correct, why do you preach on us?
Because I would think that a Caldari would know the differance from murder and making the best of a bad situation by making a few bucks off of it.
Rather than rolling through the drumroll to declare that he is wrong for dealing in scraps of metal and buying vitoc to slaves that are dependant on it.
Really...Herko there is more pressing issues.
Jalia Kovac,
When was the last time a Pod Pilot was caputured? Your money was listed as bounty.

Ridiculous! This sort of calculated amorality is precisely the reason I left the confounded empire in the first place! By choosing to trade in such items Mr. Niedboux is willingly associating himself with the murderers of Caldari pilots. By offering money in exchange for the evidence of their demise, he is directly funding continued attacks of this nature. Pretending that he is only doing it to "make a living" is patently ludicrious! No one forced him to participate as a gear of this particular machine.
By buying these macabre trophies he is funding the murder of Caldari pilots. By doing it publically he is spitting the faces of Caldari everywhere. And, more importantly, by trying to pass it off simply as "business" he is spitting in the face of honest traders everywhere.
Obviously this is all very subjective, take it as you wish and I will be more than happy to elaborate or defend. In in the end, though, I still intend to put my money where my mouth is.

Edited by: Silver Night on 29/09/2005 21:24:03 Ms. Li : I think we are all aware that there are greater problems. But the amount that each person has put foward isn't very much, we are just trying to take care of something we can change, rather than worry about things we can't. It is just a simple bounty, and a bunch of debate. It isn't as if this single subject is the sole focus of anyone here. Which greater problem would you have pilots focus on? What problem that could possibly be changed by talk and a few million ISK? ------------------ Silver Night Director -Production and Science Help the State, Make tens of millions! The Summit |

Of course there are, and several orders of magnitude bigger. I don't recall anybody saying the contrary in this thread?
Yet if you don't take care of the little problems while they are still little, they tend to grow and become more difficult to tackle. A CEO like yourself should know.
And as Mr. Night explained above, it is not like we are devoting all of our resources to the task. In a cluster where fleets are destroyed daily because pilots' egos are bigger than the compassion they have for their crews, the incentive some of us are offering seems a rather constructive endeavour to spend our isk.
Quote: you people are a waste of space sometimes.
No need for the personal insults Yuki. There are a ton of threads worth ignoring around this GalNet. One more will not bring it down.
Quote: If your need for a cause is this desperate,
Yet again, your assumption that we need a "cause" is somewhat wrong. As a CEO yourself you should know that productive people can manage more than one task during their day.
Some requiere a few minutes (such as this one), others require hours... a productive person should be able to manage his or her time to cope with them all.

Ugh, ANOTHER Storyline event. Oh joy. I wish you every success, but CCP starts big and then forgets to write the ending. I am STILL awaiting some idea what happened to the Gallentean election, which started last November, a full ten months ago.
The CCP event writers started a nice story then dropped the ball.
Anyone have any Gold Statues left? I tried in Oursulaert but they were sold out... haha!
Little Fister, who warns all, do not depend on CCP to finish this storyline either!

What?
((It's an IC forum, and we are all aware of CCPs problems here and there. Thats actually the idea behind this, Keeping one of thier smaller events in the spot light so it will hopefully get finished. They do try, there just must be some problem in the event planning or something, or maybe staffing, i dunno. I give the credit for trying at all though, they make some effort at least. The Gal elections are progressing, jsut very slowly. Isn't the statue phase over? Anyway, going to be deleted I imagine, for OOC stuff.)) ------------------ Silver Night Director -Production and Science Help the State, Make tens of millions! The Summit |
