Edited by: Lizaa on 04/09/2005 12:21:00 Processor: Intel(R) Northwood(R) CPU 3.40GHz Memory: 4096MB DDR RAM Page File: 1MB used, 40MB available Video Card : ASUS Radeon 9800 XT 256MB Primary Drive: Seagate 250Gb SATA Secondary Drive: WesternDigital 250Gb ide Ram Drive : 2Gb
now after some extensive mods to my com, and a bit of a learning curve. this is the absolute best way to set up for fraps. in all honestly i cant even tell that fraps is running.I get 0 frame change. i tried both ways of running and with the ide 250gb drive, as my primary and it sucked compared to the sata 250gb drive as the main. u could still notice a chance once u started frapsing. and this way i have no frame change when i fraps so i can only press the button to start it and pray for the best.
but so far so good no screwups so far.
I almost forgot the SATA runs my windows and eve while the ide captures the fraps. Lizaa Director of Grief TacticsÖ

because when my original 250 back up drive crapped out i bought the sata and have no reason to switch the other one and clog up the bridge they use atleast now both the fraps and eve use seprate bridges.

The RAM is overkill really, I run on 2048Mb DDR-RAM with twin Raptors running in RAID. With an X800 XT she captures EVE Fraps rather nicely...
...still, not a bad setup really

I think the point is that the FRAPS is being captured on to the RAM drive (up to 2gb per file), and then copied to disk at a later time (when speed is not of the essence). Thus, the choice in hard disk really does not matter.
Thats the way I would do it anyhow. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia Latest Video: *NEW* Carnage! |

What you ought to do is get this setup: Dual Intel Xeon 3.6 Ghz Intel Dual Socket 603/604 Intel E7525 ATX Server Motherboard 6GB DDR 333Mhz (PC 2700) RAM ATI X800 Platinum (PCI-E 16x) Dual 15000RPM SCSI Hard Drives in RAID 0 (Main) Dual 250Gb SATA in RAID 0 (Storage)
I got a comp with those specs and it ran flawless with fraps running; had no performance loss at all. However i since converted it to a Rendering Station so no more fraps...
