"125 IIs (the railgun) do more dps on a wolf than 250 IIs(which gets a 25% damage bonus!!), for less fitting. 75mm gatling rails do about 3% less dps on a wolf than 250 IIs (which get a 25% damage bonus!!) for only 2 grid."
Yup; try to fire these hybrid guns with nos on you, though... and consider that on the mentioned Wolf the 250 II will have ~50% bigger optimal than the 125mm tech.2 rail, and double the optimal of 75mm tech.2 rail. If you swap the ammo in rails to match that better range, i believe you'll see damage numbers come far closer within one another.
(fitting are probably on the bit too high side for the damage these things do, though)

jo i was simply making a point, I wasn't actually suggesting fitting rails over 250s on a wolf, just that the rails would actually do more damage, which is ridiculous, considering that the wolf gets a damage bonus for 250s, and they use similar (same? too lazy) grid.

Well the 250's suck bad damage-wise, i'll give you that ^^ with the other (small) turrets the damage difference between 'best' and 'second best' is very small, and the penalty is reduced range... but the artillery guns have something like 10% less dps on top of the shorter range. It doesn't really make much sense like that :/

Yeah, and almost as bad tracking too...

Originally by: Bracius The XXXXX has established itself as one of the most feared and respected battleships around. Since its first appearance almost two decades ago it has seen considerable service in the troublesome regions on the outskirts of the Federation, helping to expand and defend Gallentean influence there.
Too bad that none of this is true.
Or maybe: HEAVY NEUTRON BLASTER: Particle blasters operate on a similar principle as the railgun except they fire a magnetically contained ball of subatomic particles. No other turret class can match the sheer destructive power of particle blasters, but due to the rapid dispersion of the containment field, it also has the worst range of all turrets.
Should add: Too bad it doesn't fit on any gallente cruiser.
The Arbitrator is unusual for Amarr ships in that it's primarily a drone carrier. While it is not the best carrier around, it has superior armor that gives it greater durability than most ships in its class.
should read:
If drones are your thing, train Gallente and fly a Vexor instead. The Arbitrator is a pale imitation and is inferior in every way. It doesn't even do the Amarrian stuff well - it has less grid, less cap and fewer turrets. And less armour, CCP.
(alt hijacking ftw)

Yes, and please change the description of the skill Genetic Engineering from "The science of interfacing biological and machine components. Allows the use of DNA mutators." to "HA!! Bet you're ****ed that you wasted a month training this one to 5 arent ya?"

i will have to agree with the Drunk one here. with other weapons there is a reason to use one over the other, such as in the 125mm rail vs the 150mm rail, rockets vs light missles, and either can be effective. the 250's flat out stink. no real tracking advantage, shorter range, and pitiful rof decrease for the damage modifier from the 280's.
It took me some time when i first started flying arty AF's and intys to figure out why i was sucking so bad with them compared to any other ship. Unlike the Amarr theres a big diffrence in the shortest long and longest short range guns (base stats), and we dont have a 3rd long rangs gun like caldari/gallente.

There's one place where 250 II's work: when you don't have enough cpu on your claw to fit 3x280 II's. If your choice is between 3x250s and 2x280s, then the 250 fitting will give you better DOT (though not as good range, IIRC).
But this can be fixed with only a few weeks of skill training, and it's 280s from then on.

No, they arent. 250s are the worst gun in the game, please stop spreading lies that they dont suck. 125 IIs (the railgun) do more dps on a wolf than 250 IIs(which gets a 25% damage bonus!!), for less fitting. 75mm gatling rails do about 3% less dps on a wolf than 250 IIs (which get a 25% damage bonus!!) for only 2 grid.
Yeah but Artys always have sucky DPS, its instant damage u get, as far as i know i think my Zealot has More DPS than any Arty ship? Heavy NOS 4tw! |
