Quote: Criminal flag pilots that take from jettisoned cans which don't belong to them
This is needed to allow the owner of the can to shoot the one taking from his own jettisoned can and to allow the owner to shoot anyone taking from the loot cans which drop from the NPC's the owner destroyed. This does NOT include a CONCORD response, only enables the owner to shoot without getting CONCORDOKENED himself. Could be applied to agent missions too, registering jettisoned containers to the mission owner.
What happens if say an interceptor/af warps in together with a hauler (gang) - the ceptor which can approach alot faster than the hauler anyway. Goes to the can - makes a new can - moves the ore over. Locks target on the miner/hauler/barge/whatever and get battleready and waits for his gangmate in the hauler to get to his can to take the ore.
If the miner lets him take the ore nothing happens, the thief gets the ore. If the miner shoots the thief, the thief can retaliate killing the miner. (unconfirmed) If the miner takes his ore back from the can he gets flagged and the thief can kill him.
I guess it's not such a bad nerf, it'll only require the thiefs to work in teams
P.S. I'm not an ore thief (it's boring) but I understand the people who does it. The EVE retail box tells you, you can be the worst of pirate in the game and as such ore thiefs are, however irritating they must be a part of the game - they also nerf the macroers.

I think I'll take up ore-thievery, if only to nuke the occasional stupid miner who tries to shoot back.
One thing though - it doesn't say that the ore thief can shoot back, only that the miner can... _________

I highly doubt they'll introduce a feature that is SO carebearish - that's not CCP style.

Yup - so he'll loose the minerals and I doubt a miner had the firepower to kill an AF before the hauler get's the to AF's can

Miner uses a suicide alt to blow up the thief's can.
Scorched earth, baby, Salt the ground.

And still loses the ore. Miner mines another load while the thief goes to steal someone elses can before coming back for the new can full of ore.

To kill any macro miner:
1. Get gankageddon.
2. Empty miner's can, put in your own.
3. Indy comes and empties your can.

alternative... the player in the gank-a-geddon sitting so the can is on his optimal blasts the ore theif... as its his can they have stolen from, not the mining ships can.
The miner just smiles and moves the stolen ore back to the can, safe in the knowlage that the inty was toasted by the geddon.

Edited by: Drilla on 06/09/2005 01:24:48 True, but how many miners in 0.9 or 1.0 have Gankageddon protection, then they might as well mine in low sec

yep, but to many its easier to mine their veld and scord from high sec then low sec. So if this does come into effect, seeing asomething like a gank-a-geddon sitting all tooled up in a high sec belt may not be uncommon.. also iirc, the ore in question becomes flagged so that the original owner can take it back without falling victim to the whole flagging process. This prevents the move the ore from his can to mine can so i can kill myself a miner... you move it to your can you and the ore is flagged, the miner moves the stolen ore back, without being flagged him/herself.

Another pseudo-exploit that could come from this if they do through the patch in:
1) Fly around high-sec in a covert-ops (or really, anything with some firepower and a cloak)
2) Locate someone jetcan mining on his own
3) As soon as he warps out to go get his hauler, approach his can, make your own right nearby, and pop his by moving the ore into yours, renaming yours to whatever name he choose
4) If he's not paying much attention, he won't even know that his can is no longer his, and he'll be hella surprised when you decloak and lock him down and destroy him. If he does notice, he'll still probably open the can.
I'll be very surprised if this system lasts very long.

Thats a good point, there was something about the ore being flagged.. but i'm not sure if that was the case... i thought it was the ore or stolen item was worthless until the flagging was removed. But it would make sence if the ore ws flagged in a way that the original owner (the person that owned the can it was removed from.) didn't in turn become flagged. But hey what ever works... now the miners won't have to moan about not being able to take payback on the ore theives and the ore theives now fall into the risk vs reward situation. they steal the ore, they now run the risk of being shot at.
hmmm maybe a new line of work is coming up... carebear protection.

what happens if you mix ore then and stack it? that would create a whole mess in the db over flagged ore and unflagged ore... and mess up splitting ore later on...

So what if you use like a sealth bomber to move all the ore and then recloak do you really think their going to just leva a can of ore their. Never underestimate the miners greed.

I wonder if they thought this thru?

I am pretty much sure they have, hench the reason why it is not implemented yet!!!
On a another note, it could be put into EULA or some stuff like it can be deemed a bannable offence. So if you choose to do it, you might get a warning, then ban if you continue.
Don't underestimate the power of the GM's
To the one that posted who would put a Gankageddon to protect mining in high sec... o/ <--- ME!!!! ---------------------------------------------- "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things." 1 cor. |

Have you tried this out on SISI yet as it is (from what iv heard) being tried out on the test server. So if these are just wild assumptions not backed up with any facts, then kindly move your cute gallante behind onto the SISI server and come back to us with some real potential exploits of the flaggin .
