I am kind of new and am wondering which ship can mine common asteroids the fastest. I seem to have narrowed it down to either the Covetor mining barge or the Apocalypse battleship but am not certain if there are others. Among these two, I also have not been able to determine which one is faster as they seem roughly very close. Anyone good with specs know for sure? I would really appreciate it.

Assuming the barge was fitted with mod strips and tech 2 crystals then it would be the barge which would be the quickest to strip an asteroid
My barge would do over 1100 Ore units a minute
But (I'm estimating) an Apoc with 8 minerIIs would only do around 800 ore units a minute
That of course ignores all the advantages an apoc would have...stronger armor, shields, cap etc etc
But for pure mining speed i beleive the Barge rules

So modulated strip miners are faster than strip miner l for asteroids like scordite,veldspar?

Covetor mines more- hands down winner.
Apoc is much faster to train for.

You look caldari to me, personally i would train for an osprey, with cruiser lvl 5 you can prolly out-mine an apoc.

My covetor, fitted w/ 3x Modulated Strip Miner 2's (with the crystals for the proper ore), brings in 1163 ore units per laser every 3 minutes.
Every 3 minutes with my Megathron, it'd bring in about 1800 ore units.
So, 3 minutes w/ Barge = 3500ish
3 minutes w/ Megathrown (7 M2's) = 1800ish
you can also get implants to add to mining yield, not counting getting mining drones.

Not even close. At caldari cruiser 5 your mining lasers fitted on an Osprey get a 100% boost, so the 3 miners are as good as 6. You mine just as much as a Dominix, but nowhere close near a Apocalypse, let alone a Covetor. A Retriever is already capable of mining more than a Dominix and that's way easier to train than caldari cruiser 5  .

dominx with 6x mdcm2 and 15 harvies
mdcm2 = about 120m3 per minute depending on skills x6= 720 correct if wrong
15 harvies with minning drone lvl 5 = 562.5
total for 1 minute = 720 + 562.5 = 1282.5m3 per minute
for 3minutes = 1282.5 x 3 = 3847.5m3
(edit) can also tank and have 15 heavy drones for protection just suck the harvies in when rats come and spit the heavies own

Thats an old myth: osprey/scythe with 3 mining lasers and cruiser 5 is equivalent to running 6 miners on any other ship.
Apoc can fit 8 miners.period.
