I have two EVE clients, one for Tranq, one for Sisi. I just tried installing the latest patch on my Tranq client, it said it was successful, I tried starting it, nothing, just a black screen.
I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, but now it won't reinstall. Just gives an error while unpacking one of the .res files.
I tried patching the sisi client... Which is version 3551, and theres no file to patch that version. So I'm kind of stuck :/

I had this problem too with the second client install i use for my alt.
I removed the second install and re-installed it from the newest build i had downloaded before the patch today, then ran the patch on it again and it worked.
seems like an intermittant thing to me

Remember to save the "Settings" folder and the file "Prefs.ini" or you'll lose all your bookmark folders and esc menu settings.
Which can be annoying to reconfigure :/

I'm downloading the newest client now, could take an hour or two though (going 111kb/s).
Is there any patch from 3551? I can't find one, I've looked in Patches and test patches.

Edited by: Felony Assualt on 06/09/2005 18:24:36 For me to fix the blackscreen bull**** i have to download a new client and install it with the new patch and that will hopefully fix it? And, do i just copy my settings and prefs.ini from cache to the new client to have my BMs + folders?

Did anyone get the new client to work? It says to me: Output folder: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE Can't write: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\blue.dll
Im stuck and not sure what to do to fix this ****.

Yup.. I'm in now. When you uninstall EVE it leaves a lot of files left over in the EVE directory sub-folder. One of those files, the blue.dll is causing the problem. I went in and deleted the whole EVE folder, after backing up the important stuff first, then tried the installer again - works great.
Hope that helps you out.

First things first Eris, in this topic you refer the poster to this "http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=221092" thread, in that thread you refer a player with a similar issue back to this one. Terribly confusing :/
I'm getting a checksum error every time a new patch comes out now - been like that since Exodus. It's a different .stuff file each time; this time it was tut2.stuff. For anyone else having this issue, you can go to the 'EVE Patches' page, and down at the bottom, there is a small line that directs you to where you can download individual .stuff files depending which one failed CRC. For those getting black screens after patching, that is what normally happened to me if I ignore the patch crc error and try to run anyways - perhaps check the dates/versions of your files?
This is a terribly frustrating error though, and seems to be far too common at the moment.....

I still get the black screen.
I have uninstalled Eve, removed the directory aswell, installed a full "before patch" client, download and installed the patch. It worked fine for 1 day.
the next day when i tried to start Eve, i got the black screen again. Sigh.
I have done this on both my computers (a laptop HP Comaq nx7010, and my stationary P4 2,4 ghz.) they both get exactly the same problem.
