I also "feel" like CCP has been banning more bots lately, so that also has a dent in subs.
I've pointed this out dozens of times, but it never gets responded to lol. What we are all seeing is the active people online, and the mass banning of bots has a very large impact on the number of people that are online 23/7.
But of course, EVE has been dying, is dying, and will continue to be dying for years to come.

No bot is on-line 23/7 anymore. Those were a trivial target for CCP Sreegs, Their death was reported to the CSM in May and in some Las Vegas meeting. But I guess the bot owners just get a second account and run each for 12 hours.
That's still longer than the average eve player, so banning bots does reduce concurrent user count more than subscriptions. Especially as CCP Sreggs has said that after the first 2 week ban, over 90% of the offenders stop using bots. One bot gone, concurrent users goes down, no drop in subscriptions.
Also Ive been tracking the data closely. The concurrent user count has been level for about 2 weeks.
Edit: I wonder if the new crashlogging tools built in to the client also allow for bot finding. CCP Sreegs has said his concern is the security of the client, so maybe those tools allow for seeing if the client is being messed with in a EULA violating manner. If they are: Banhammer. CCP employees should never proclaim a feature to be awesome. Only subscribers should. |

Predicting we will see sub numbers when (and if) they reach the previous peak, and not before. Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.
