The Full Elections for CSM8 have been delayed 1 day to allow for the qualified candidates to regroup after the Pre-election.
The Election for CSM8 will now run from April 4th till midnight on April 18th.
Additionally, we would like to release the code we will be using to tally the election for review by the public. It can be found here
The input format (.blt) is described in section 3.1 of this document, though the silly thing about 20 characters isnGÇÖt followed GÇÿcause modern PCs can handle big names.
Please post your feedback and comments on the code in this thread.

The doc says candidate names are quoted in the .blt file, but you aren't removing any quotes (not a big deal)

Here is an alternate python implementation of Wright-STV. It was developed entirely independently of CCP Fozzie's script, but he kindly sent me some sample blt files and their outputs so I could make my output appear in the same format.
I've tested it on a few .blt files (a complex one is included) and it generates the exact same output as Fozzie's.
It also has some more verbose output options. See the comments in the header of the file for instructions.

I also have in my possession a few extra passwords to the special server, CCP Fozzie set up. That contains his special view of EVE and how it should be played and handled. Completely rebuilt form the ground up.
Passwords will be handed out on a first come first served basis, so be quick if you want a most excellent experience.

With users having to make a list of 14 candidates (well, they don't HAVE to, but it's best if they do), I highly recommend that they use Vote Match to make it a little easier on themselves. :)

Chris Roberts - I think the CCP guys did a very nice job, what they do on eve online, but it is not the style of game the first person visceral-áWing Commander, Privateer, Freelancer style (was).

Yeah, a published list with the amount of endorsements per candidate would be great, especially to see just how many in the end actually made the 200 endorsement limit and who just got added because there weren't enough candidates.
An answer from CCP about the whole Fon Revedhort thing would be nice as well, but I'd settle for just the list of candidates and their endorsements for now

A list of the candidates who got the 200 votes, a list of candidates who haven't and another of candidates who were kept from running by CCP could, perhaps, be useful so we could know certain things like I dunno... who will we be able to vote for, and a few other views on the CCP side.

You should be seeing some very obvious new changes as we move through the election. We wanted to focus on a full 2 weeks of visibility rather than one short burst.

Well, I was to write a post on how difficult it was for me to find the voting page in its location, but apparently I can't find it... again! 
It's not on the EVE Online page, and it's not on the Community website ( I would *swear* that it was there...?). Where is the voting page???

Latest expansion? -no, not there

Is it linked at the devblog on the CSM candidates? No, it isn't. Linked at the thread on the STV algorythm? Hell, don't, who needs to vote when we can just read that awesomesauce code? Well, scratch that. I've spent the last 15 minutes browsing EVE-related pages and still haven't find the voting page again. I already voted so I don't need to find it again, actually, but IMXHIO, you CCP guys got a serious visibility issue with the voting page...

Seriously, I don't understand what's happening with the voting.
Last week CCP Dolan said they had plans to improve voter education and awareness, and they would do everything they did last year and more.
So far I see CCP doing far less, and am encountering people who have no clue this vote is going on. (I guess they didn't notice the one splash screen ad I've seen so far. And the now buried articles on the character selection screen.)
And now this voting link thing.
At this point my tinfoil hat is tingling and I am wondering if CCP is trying to sandbag this thing, but I suspect that the plans are to do the publicity at the end.
This is troublesome because awareness and education is poorly served by trying to cram it in at the last moment.
The key to getting the vote to represent the playerbase is to get more players to vote. With this new voting system this is as important as it was under the other. It was identified by many is the bigger issue than the voting system.
We can only do so much in trenches, we need your help CCP.

I can honestly say I only ever notice there's a splash screen AFTER I input the password and the login is already underway. Guess how many times I aborted the login to click the ad? Yeah, zero, none.
When I fire the client it is because I have stuff to do in the game, and thus I just ignore any other distractions in the initial screens. I believe this is a common behavior among players and that's why I think splash screens are completely ineffective for this kind of subject.
If login ads were the solution to the CSM vote turnout we would not have a problem by now, because they are used every year, yet they never managed to push it beyond the 16% mark.
The one thing I think would make a big difference, including a link in the UI somewhere inside the client, have been dropped after the december summit discussions. You see, even if we the players are initially compelled to rush into login in the client, after we have done the stuff we wanted to do (which may take anywhere between five minutes or five hours) it is very likely that we will find a few minutes of free time.
I think that's the right moment to grab the players attention and nudge them into the process.

Well CCP should just add some more fluff patches, that way players get bored and read the headlines on the launcher screen about the CSM election is now taking place, and a link to it.
I know I read that, while the launcher was patching at least.
