Eve is going to be a scary place when more and more corps learn high risk diplomacy and brinksmanship politics.

Wow, that was so level-headed I'd like to meet the main of that alt.
Asking for the locking of a thread is in almost all cases, lame imo. At least allow the possiblity for people view and express opinions before the true flamewars begin (usually takes at least until halfway through the second page), at which point not even I get too angry with the mods (and I'm very forthcoming on my opinion on forum moderation).
I should be sleepin' 'stead of keepin' these late hours I been keepin'

Look ASCN, you started this mess, you have to allow others to comment.
You let the outpost go for many page? Why lock this one? If you don't want comments, don't post in the forum. This is a public forum, which is for corporate discussions.
Not one of your finest moments to be sure.

A little objective input.
Having followed EVE politics for more than a year and a half, I feel I've gotten the hang of what is said despite bad choice of words, which might come as a result of poor mastery of the english language (not claiming I'm a master myself, mind)
The current statement is not a contradiction of the intention of the first statement. The first statement was simple enough. "We do not wish to be involved in this conflict, and we do not wish to be dragged into this. To facilitate this, both sides are to stay out of our regions - neither are welcome here" However, poor sense of politics also made them set negative standing to one side. Noone is perfect. The second statement is also quite simple. "We will not shoot at SA nor their friends unless they shoot first. They are allowed to leave without us (trying to) forcing them out"
An advice to CYVOK is to have his senators review the message in order to clear contradictions and missinterpretions. --

Originally by: CYVOK As of 12:53AM EvE time ASCN has ordered a general cease fire on SA forces and corps in ASCN Space and omist. ASCN will avoid contact with those forces outside of ASCN space as well.
This cease fire is to allow those corps to leave Omist as they have requested. Any SA or Omist Corps that fires on an ASCN member will be dealt with appropriately.
SE is NOT to seek safe haven in ASCN Space, neither is SA. We are working with both parties to resolve the situation.

Edited by: Nache1 on 08/09/2005 09:36:35 I just happened to see this post today while I was doing some ummm .... hunting shall we say .
So I jumped on my second account in omist and sure enough it was true . I convo'ed CYVOK to get all the info and find out how long this cease fire was going to be . Was replyed to , given docking rights and told until saturday .
I grab all my gear tossed in my hauler and off I went ( would of fitted but couldnt / didnt have rights ) got my second account out of omist and loged him out .
I thank CYVOK & ASCN for sticking to there word of letting us get our gear and not firing on us . |

I had no such luck Nache...
I talked to 2 ASCN fleet commanders, and was told that I was free to try and leave in a shuttle since it was nigh on impossible to catch those, but leaving in a combat ship was out of the question.
Last night MUR shot it's way out, refitted in Tenerifisas as 5 of our gang were not combat fitted, flipped ASCN the finger and went through Feythabolis to get to Esoteria. During this time I recieve word that ASCN have backed down on the rigid demands and would let us leave peacefully.
I might add that we would have respected all demands if ASCN had let us leave with our stuff and even went around ASCN space instead of through it like we ended up doing.

Originally by: Juliana Prost Now for the record, I'm not a big fan of what ASCN did because it makes my life more difficult; HOWEVER, I'm not as ridiculously biased as you are. I've been privy to SOME of the diplomatic relations going on but not all of it, so what I'm posting is essentially my analysis of the situation.
ASCN were seeking to insure the "southern treaty" (as they call it I guess) isn't in threat, and that the ultimate object of peace in the south and war elsewhere will still be the rule of the day. Apparently at first this assurance was given, however, when the five posted that they were effectively backing SA as rightful lords of Stain, that assurance seemed hollow, or at the very least, damn confusing. Looking at CYVOK's original announcement about the annexation of Omist, it seemed that when the diplomats of ASCN started trying to figure out what was going on, they felt the information they were given was less then either honest, forthright, or just plain suspect. Or maybe they just didn't get much of a response from a few parties at all.
So, in typical heavy handed diplomacy they made a decision to make a statement. I honestly believe the invasion of Omist was a political statement. Basically saying "Uh, HELLO WE DEMAND ATTENTION!". Well, they got it. Mission accomplished. SA requested access to hangers to move assets and these requests were honored. It's impressive the way they watchdog everything moving around that space as well.
The one issue that may cause more problems for ASCN in the future is the fact that some Species were allowed on their operations. I believe this was a political error and goes against some of the goals that ASCN seem to have. It was probably a lapse of judgement by a field commander at the time or something.
Also, they are being honorably in at least not completely shutting out their allies, SE. The true question is once SA finally achieves its goals, will ASCN; A. Treat SA the same as they've treated SE, or B. Will SA use this political statement as grounds for continued aggression in the south, plotting for the downfall of ASCN.
Anyway, ASCN's actions gave them a serious bargaining chip and made SA pay attention. SA would either have to expend resources previously allocated for SE's removal on combating ASCN, or come to the diplomatic table and work things out to ASCN's liking. Personally, I think SA did the right thing and are staying their course.
I don't think ASCN and the five's NAP are in danger as long as ASCN keeps to their word and doesn't actively help SE in stain space. Personally, with the exception of the species guys in the ASCN fleet, I think ASCN has done reasonably well in attempting to protect their assets and goals while also looking out to honor existing allies and maintain some semblance of peace in the south.
Alt, out.
I'll be damned. An alt who actually reads, analyses and summarises things pretty correctly. /emote tips hat.

Err I could be wrong but I thought it was MASS that started this mess by throwing the Southern Treaty out of the wondow and declaring war on SE because it would not allow it to return from its "holiday" and assume its former positon on top of the pile in Stain?
I would assume that ASCN is trying to reach a position whereby SA and SE are allowed to resolve their differences in Stain space, without direct outside interference from ASCN, 5 or anyone else. But maybe that is just too sensible and not as much fun as saying "ooh ASCN u r all backstabbers" or "you are doing what 5 tell you".
After this is all over Stain, 5, ASCN and others need to get along if the South is to remain stable, which is the goal of all parties concerned afaik.
The best way for this to happen is for Stain Empire and Alliance to sort this out between themselves.

Not being apart of most of the diplomatic talks, I do wonder one thing.
Could all this end right here and now with an apology from trigger and the way this was handled? I hear that trigger is a hell of a diplomat...well sometimes to get what you want (respect, power, and things back the way they used to be) is to admit you screwed up royal, whether or not you think you did or not, and to attempt to start again clean slate. If he is such a great diplomat, he would know that appeasement can be just as powerful as a threat. In fact, it usually shows you care about the other side's point of view.
I'd like to think if you got Trigger and Cujo to talk to eachother, start it off with trigger saying, "I didn't want this to happen, lets fix it, I screwed up," I'd like to think there is enough GOOD history between the two that they would end this crap now.
However, maybe I'm talking out of my a$$. Like I said, I'm not privy to all that goes on in the diplomatic sessions. I just shoot at what I'm told to shoot at.
Sov - never make the mistake of thinking admiting an error is a sign of weakness.

I have no intention to flame anything, and i got no real beef with ASCN after all this time. They did their thing,we do ours in response and that's all there is to it.
I just try to state facts the way i see them from my personal point of view.I don't claim objectivity, because i need to have inside info from the opposite camp to do that, and i think it would be silly to expect that i would be given that intel.
I still have respect for a lot of guys in ASCN(mainly the grunts on the front lines and not the decision makers though). As for the "xetic breakup getting old" deal,it's true but it doesn't detract from the wheight these facts carry.
I can understand that some people in ASCN may not be comfortable to be reminded of those times. However,it's not my or anyone else's fault outside of ASCN itself. They decided to do what was best for them and well done for that. It's just my idea that every action carries a consequence.
Building an outpost and gaining respect for other actions will sadly never change the facts about the birth of ASCN. I do not wish to elaborate on them since everyone knows what happened,it will result in flames and will hijack the thread. We may lack the numbers and logistics to go full time berserk on ASCN,but we can and will always remind these facts to the general public of EvE.It's the least we can do for our buddies who bled with us in immensea, foundation and virii. Some ghosts never go away.
Good luck to everyone and have some fun fights
P.S. This thread deserves a sticky just for the excellent alt post.

This NBSI whoring of every thread having anything to do with ASCN is becomming old indeed...
So I would like to suggest that you make your own "NBSI HATES ASCN A LOT" thread somewhere on the forum, it is bad style and down right impolite to keep polluting other peoples threads with your juvenile jibberish.
Your attemts to turn every thread into a flamefest is no longer funny and to be perfectly honest, it prevents a lot of good and fun threads from running their course thereby detracting from the roleplay value in many of them.
So NBSI: please... pretty please, with sugar on the top... go make your own threads.

Look, I'd respect your view if it were not for one fact. ASCN corps left XETIC because it was full of dead weight. This simple fact was proven by the fact that XETIC could not hold a single region without the ASCN corps (even though it had enough numbers ON PAPER to outnumber the enemy). Feyt took the attack of -5- AND the coalition and still managed to bitterly hold on. They had by far the most kills and internally the corps were hurting from their members screaming about how utterly inactive XETIC was as a whole.
ASCN corps did the heavy work always in war. They left and XETIC died. Sure, I'm sure it could of been handled much better and sure, there were some corps outside ASCN that did fight and feel somewhat upset how it turns out but don't pretend that XETIC had no part in its own destruction. Its got fat, lazy and inactive and got eaten up by something much leaner. End of story.
