Pod Ransom Prices :

Well basically, this is to your discression. If you catch and egg early in your career, then you're off to a good start, they're pesky little buggers to snag.

Basically, when ransoming a pod, take a few things into consideration:

> Character age - if he's young, his clone is cheap, and he prolly doesn't have implants, if he's old, raise the stakes, he can probably afford it. YARRRR!!)

> Corp and history - If he's an alliance member, or part of a large corp, chances are he'll have a bulging wallet, and will be packed to the gills with implants, so, again, raise the stakes, and make him pay for what he's worth.

> Attitude - Smacktalk is bad, we know people get mad about losing ships, but it's not nice to abuse someone verbally. so... Drop another few mil on per insult YARRRR!!.

Pod ransom prices are varied, so use common sense to get the best deal, and let your victim bargain with you. The key here is not to beleive him when he says "OMG you scoundrel! I have no implants!", hike the price up, and see how he reacts.

WTF?! Verone ransomed my pod for 60MIL when I was just 2 months old and had under 2MIL SPÆs!

My clone was worth 250K. Go figure.

Well, pirating is not a steady source of income so you will need other ways to make isk as a complement. It's really easy to earn those extra bucks...

1. Make a new character (alt)

2. Train it to use industrial ship, cargo expanders and mining laser (only take a few days, max)

3. Put it in empire, start mining before you go away from keyboard, or before you go to sleep.

If you fill the cargohold up a few times per day, you will get a nice amount of minerals in the end. I did this before i got rich. It's easy but not many fellow pirates have discovered this way of making additional money.

Nice post m8, All though i saw no mention of those who pirate purely for the pretty pyrotechincs Smile

In all seriousness anyone wishing to take the path of piracy will be well advised to follow this guide.

Worth noting is that in a tight battle you should get a feel for the the quality of the ship fitted these in my expereince tend to be like xmas presents you never know what will drop and the loot tables for pc's are a damn sight better than that of the npc's

*baagpus thinks of the isk generated from multiple gisti's sb's taken from overconfident harpy pilots

Great guide for all the new pirates. Nice one Verone YARRRR!!

Most important thing to take from this is that you CAN be effective even with relatively little skill points and with even the most basic of ships. Use your brain, experiment and have fun. When you screw up you'll learn something.

After a while you'll start to get a reputation, and if you've kept your word and been a good pirate people will be more willing to pay you the ransom. Be honest but ruthless.

Keep in one area of space and you can start charging the locals fees for protection/not-pirating them. One of my fondest memories was duelling another nasty pirate in front of a corp paying us for not agressing them.

And for those of you reading this trying to outfox pirates... try it. A rather notorious pirate once tried to ransom me for 20mil to pass. That led to my most enjoyable ever solo fight... he lost his very expensive ship and his pod.

It can be a tough life. You can spend months not earning much, but sometimes you'll get the prize. Start small but think big. Stay unpredictable. Find people you trust and fly together, nothing like taking down a BS with a few frigates to forge friendships.

It's not about the money really... its about the rush you'll feel when you're orbiting a victim, heart-pumping and adrenaline flowing.

And the most important bit? Saying yarrrr a lot, obviously.

Sorry to respond to a troll, but at current odds you're more likely to find 3 million zydrine being hauled in an iteron mkV with local hulls than to get a T2 BPO from a level 1 agent Laughing
