Been playing about a month and love it (with the exception of increasingly frequent lag and server trouble). I got trounced in .4 a couple weeks ago -- I thought PvP was only in .3 and under -- by someone with a warp disruptor and stasis web.
I know that you can fit a warp stab (or several) to counteract the disruptor, but what do you do to protect against the Web?

an afterburner would negate the effect somewhat

There is no way to counter a web, other then staying out of range. Some people would say an AB or MWD, but if your counting on speed to stay alive neither of those would do any good once your webbed. Even trippling 20 m/s is only 60 m/s and a dead ship.
If you need speed to stay alive in an engagment, either stay out of web range, or make sure the enemy can not lock you. Once your webbed your only real optoin is to align and warp out.

I have read that an ECM burst will unlock you and therefore break his ability to web you temporarily, perhaps with enough time to escape the range. I have not tested this though.

i changed one word to make this more accurate - i tried this last night and it didn't work - i was going to a mission and had to go through 0.4 space near Reblier and two guys jumped me, scrambling my warp drive (one stab never really seems to work, tbh) so i tried an ECM burst and it didn't make any difference, they destroyed my cruiser and podded me (first time)
something i have been wondering - an ECCM Projector is supposed to boost "the target's" ability to overcome jamming, but can this be used on one's own ship?
if not, is there something else in the EW suite that allows you to boost your own sensors to prevent jamming? Pesky LaRue Minmatar Messiah Bringing Salvation To Your System Soon! ++ PRAY FOR PESKY ++ |

Thing bout this is ECMs are weak..against other cruisers you need like 2 or 3. plus it matters which type of ship it is, which race based on sensor strenght. Your best bet is Weapon disruptors because webifiers are only 10km usualy. With training their stil going to get you if they are experianced, and have almost 20k or named webs etc.
course you still need warp scramblers to get away. solution might be is train your own skills aswell and get named weapon disruptors or something, having signal amps to increase your scan resolution to lock faster would help too, if you had enough skills you could prolly just break their lock and jump without warp core stablizers. Its all in the info under all the equipment. CCP seems to favor gate camping in an effort to keep alliances safe.

Jamming should not be confused with scrambling. Jamming is preventing the enemy locking you, and therefore shooting. Scrambling is preventing them warp out.
You can REDUCE the chance of being jammed with a Backup Array of the type to match your ships race, but most people generally hold that its not worth wasting a slot on one.
Most people use 2 points of scrambling, so 2 warpcore stabs AT LEAST is advisable to those wanting to escape. Another handy hint is that if you want more than 2, choose an even number, as it is usually pretty unlikely that you will be tackled by an odd number of points (most frigs carry 2 or sometimes 4 point scrambling)

thanks for the clarifications - i was hoping to jam them from locking me and scrambling my warp-drive, but what i'm taking from your post is that this isn't possible.
and you said about using a backup array of the type to match my race - where can i find out what those are? (I'm using minmatar and gallente ships) Pesky LaRue Minmatar Messiah Bringing Salvation To Your System Soon! ++ PRAY FOR PESKY ++ |

It is posible to jamm, but not luckly if you want to be able to do anything else.
Chance to jamm is aprohimatly Jamm str/sensor str. One multispector jam have str 4?Typical cruiser have sensor strength 14 i think. So, one module will give you about 30% chance to jamm - to low to rely on it.
