hey guys,
I've just got Mining 4 and was wondering about upgrading my EP-S miners to Miner II's - however, on the surface of it, it wouldn't seem to be be a very good deal - the CPU on the EP-S's is 51, so i can fit 4 in my cruiser, but on Miner II's it's 80, which is crazy-high, yet the difference in yield is only 9 points - doesn't seem like an equitable trade-off.
can someone please tell me what i'm missing?

If you get your electronics skill up higher, eventually you fill be able to fit miner IIs easily. But you're right, fitting Miner IIs can be a pain for new players.

The Miner 2s are not just 9 better--EPSs are 41 base, and Miner 2s are 60 base (I think). It is a lot better. However, coprocessors and electronics skill are your friend.

Yeah, if you look at the stats of your EP-S while it's installed on your ship, that includes your skills factored in, whereas the Miner 2 you see on the market doesn't have your skills factored in.
A Miner 2 with Mining 4 (prerequisite skill) and Astrogeology 4 (extra skill) pulls 86.4 / minute. The difference adds up quickly the more lasers you have, too.

ahhh, of course, something I hadn't considered - the EP-S's show up as 51.somethign due to my skills, it's not the 'base' value of the item.

miner 2's as mentioned are hard to fit when you in cruisers and the like all i can say is cpu 2's help a lot. Where they do make a difference is on the ores with large volume like arknor bisot crokite where with astrolegy u can get up to 5 units per cycle.
get em u will be glad you did, dam it was a long time ago when i got 2 working on my probe :) such a long time ago
