I seem to have a bad problem and I need to figure out how to solve it. Having had some good and bad PVP encounters I am finding it really hard these days. Every time I hit PVP I get such a rush and I get all panic'd and jumpy. I can't focus and almost shake. Am I suffering performance anxiety? Am I overcome by carebear?
What the hell is my problem and how do I get over it?
I wanna sit cool and calm. I want to grin and feel good as someones/my ship detonates across the system and the guns roar.
Help anyone? |

And try to go out in smaller stuff first. U wont be shaking cuz there is nothin to loose...
If that still makes u shake...consider mining...if that makes u shake.......turn off the damn vibrator!

A lot of people get the shakes when they PVP. I used to get it all the time, then it just stopped after a while, guess I got used to it. Just keep in there and you will get used to it.

Here we go...finally an answer
Another idea is....break down a given engagement into it's parts. Go throught it step by step in your mind before it happens. Know the steps, backwards and forwards. Actually move your mouse pointer over the modules or other controls that you need to activate. Put your fingers over the F1 to FX keys. Sometimes you need to use this type of kinestic(sp?) method of learning when you are performing a physical action under pressure. You are teaching your eyes where to look when, your hands and fingers where to move so that you dont have to look down at your fingers when things are on the line.

Well if you are quite new to pvp everyone gets like that at first, it's because you have something to lose with eve so you get a bit of adrenaline. It does die off somewhat with experience.
I used to get so shakey I couldn't think. ------------------------------

I used to get that all the time... now that i've been podded several times and lost enough ships to provide the annual budget for a small country, it's kind of gone away.

Get 20 vigils fit them all and pvp with your buds in the same system as your vigils then you wont shake since you dont have much to lose time wise or isk wise.

I have to say that there is nothing quite like a smoke after a successful PvP engagement. If you haven't tried it you're missing out on the finer things in life. |

I used to get those shakes alot too in other MMORPGs (I just came to Eve). I'm not quite sure why, because earlier I'd played years of firstpersonshooters so it's not like I was new to the whole idea, and in most games there weren't that much to lose from it either.
My best advice is just don't be thinking about it.
I was living with my parents while I got these adrenaline kicks or whatever you call them and seeing how I played at late night it kind of sounded like something else was going on in the room with all the twitching about so I tried focusing on sitting still, which didn't exactly help ;)

Doing a bit of practice on the Test Server helps for me. It's a lot more calmer as you've not really got anything to lose, but it helps you to get on with what you're supposed to do. I'm very forgetful when it comes to drones, i always forget to launch the damn things in PvP. But playing and practicing it on the Test Server helped a lot, and at the same time you're finding bugs and helping to improve the next patch. _____________________________________________/ *Here comes the Thnikkaman!*

i start to get a high pulse when theres even a chans of an encounter... when i start to figth i start to panic and get tunnel vision and everything moves slow...

when i figth in groups im still abit jittery but its ALOT less... when i figth on test its allways in a BS... but on main i figth in frigs... maybe i should start big and work my way down
need some tips or i have to move outoff 0.0 and into empire

Pracice. Being calm in combat is one of the tougher things to learn. If you know any fleet commanders then talk to them generally all fleet commanders can be calm in a tese situation.

Yah when I first did pvp I shook so much I couldn't think proply.......Its alot lessened even after a week or 2. That unmistakable Pang of Adrenaline when you spy a lone Mining barge is what I play for though. --------------------------------- The Comments and/or Actions above in noway indicate the veiws or actions of my corporation.

Hehe, the first times i fought in my battleship the adrenaline rush was so bad i couldnt click on "warp to planet" after i got jumped by a couple of hostiles .. poor scorp :F About almost one year later I only get an increased heartbeat, not much left of the old "adrenaline bang" .. :\ Try to get in a big gang (40+ ships) with a good fc, its a lot easier to stay calm when the people around you know what they are doing.
