Ok, so I have started to pirate and I was thinking of flying a maulus as a support frig. My setup seems to work but I am at a loss with my midslots. I don't have fitting problems but I'm not sure if I should have a MWD. My current plan uses 2 sensor damps and a disrupter, but I'm afraid of missiles. However, I hope to fly with a gankageddon who can't use a disrupter.
What are people's suggestions? Should I go MWD or maybe even drop my second damp for both (though I might need some convincing here).
Thanks in advance

Go for two sensor damps and a racial jammer. If the jammer fails, the dampeners should increase their lock time sufficiently for another cycle...

Just go nos in highs, MWD warp scram, and web, and whatever else you want.
You are support, your little guns won't help too much, might as well just be able to stay safe, and keep your cap full.

If you're going to do that, you may as well use an incursus...

That's a pretty good idea but what about a warp disrupter. My partner will be in a long range gank setup and thus can't hold our prey in place. Would a dampener+jammer+disrupter(or the 20km one) work?

I wasn't going to reply, but since other people seems to just try to derail the thread I might as well give it a try. I usually fly griffins in this role, but I suppose the maulus can be a nice little ship for this thing. And it looks cool. That's important too in my book ;)
Well...back to the matter at hand.
If your friend doesn't scramble, he will have to be really fast at killing, for it all to be effective. I doubt that will happen with anything bigger than T1 frigs if he uses a railgun thorax. So. You must warp scramble. The two variants here are 7,5km and 20km range. The 20km ranged one will drain you cap like there is no tomorrow. If you want to sustain that, you should get a good small cap battery and probably put a capacitor power relay in a low slot...if you also use a mwd you are bound to run out of cap.
Dampeners are the special bonus of the maulus and they are really good in most situtations where you face single enemies. The problem here is that you will have to do two things, if you are going to go EW and tackle. The two usually aren't doable with a single T1 frig. Well. If you want to tackle(and you probably have to with a railrax covering you) you probably must use a mwd, scrambler, and preferable a webber. To make these mods run, you might want CPR's in low slots, but nosferatus in highslots might very well do the job. They will serve you better than guns. The other setup variant is one where you will be doing ew support for a ship that can scramble and kill on it's own but has little in the way of defence. This will most likely be done best with two dampeners and one racial jammer. The racial jammer will have limited range compared to what you get out of griffins and those kind of ships, but it will work enough times. When you manage to jam someone it's going to take them ages to get back in the fight when you have the two dampeners on them.
Now. If you want a little tip on another pretty nice way to do this I can give you my cheap expendeble frigate-fleet ew support griffin.
Highslots: 2x standard launchers Midslots: Sensor Booster 3x Racial jammers (If I have no intel on enemy or we are just out in a pack of frigates I go with gallente, amarr and minmatar jammers. I'll give caldari a little chance to get away since I like them ;) Low slot CPR.
With this setup you can lock and jam at 90km's with ok skills. Frigates aproaching you get a faceful of missiles starting at 25km+(again depending on skills) while fending off the two little scout drones you have. Then you hope you manage to jam him or you warp out before he is in tackle range. The griffin sucks in combat ;) But this setup won't cost you anything and can still work. in a team.
