I'm new to the game, so I don't know a lot. But this is very strange.
My shuttle can pull of 50+ AU warp jumps without using all power. At least, I saw it do such jumps when traveling.
But when I undock and hit the autopilot button to fly someplace, I can't make a 10+ AU jump without running out of power. It looks as if I didn't have the power after undocking, even though the interface shows otherwise.
Am I missing something here? Or is this a bug?
PS. After paying some more attention to my other ships, I've noticed it happens to ALL of them, not just my shuttle.

its a realized bug, but they have yet to do anything about it in the past few patches

I get this intermittently, and it has been happening on and off for a long time.
The trick is that it tends to only happens intermittently, so it's very hard to track down why it's happening. If you know a sequence of actions that can get this to happen consistently (preferably every single time), then I'm sure the bug hunters would love to know about it through a bug report.
Beware those beyond here, for they cannot see evil. |

If you sit for about 20 seconds after undocking before initiating a jump, you'll be able to pull full distances. often times i just double click on open space to move out of the way for anyone else undocking and after i've moved out of the way a little bit i'll hit autopilot or manually initiate my warp. it's annoying, but so long as you are aware of how to compensate for it, it shouldn't be that much of a pain.

This seems to happen only with smaller ships (interceptor and shuttle in my case). Alignin your ship manually (dbl click to space) before warp helps.

It happens to me EVERY time when Im in my shuttle. If I set a destination in a base, undock and hit the autopilot button as soon as its available, WHAM... no more power.
If a developer would like to observe me in action (doing this), be my guest. :D

just manually click a direction before you initiate a warp, it should avoid that bug

I think it happens pretty much all the time after undocking, but you only notice it on low-cap ships (e.g. Frigates with MWD, barges and shuttles).
Double clicking in space so your ship starts moving allows you to warp with no problems.
I have actually thought about bug reporting this several times, but I assumed that it was either a feature or such an obvious bug that there must have been an avalanche of bug reports already. |

It happens every single time I undock in a shuttle and immediately hit autopilot.

Edited by: Andrue on 15/09/2005 15:52:51 I don't get this often but when I do it seems to develop as a fault with that ship. It's never bothered me enough to test if repackaging will fix a broken ship though. I did once re-dock and try a different shuttle and that was fine. I was able to swap between them and see the bug on one but not the other.
It wasn't a very interesting party trick though and I had stuff to do so I just took the working shuttle -- (Battle hardened miner)

But if everyone assumes that, then they get no bug reports at all . Also, maybe they thought they'd fixed it before, and cause no-one bothered bug reporting it anymore, they don't know it's still broken?
It's always better to have too many reports on a bug than too few.

It happens everytime you undock regardless of what ship you are in. It's like a huge chunk of your cap is missing but the display shows that it's full.
If you undock in a larger ship you won't notice it when travelling an average distance to a gate/station
If you wait 20 seconds or so your cap will recharge enough and you can warp the distance.

Undock, double click in space. As soon as the engines starts to roar, you can warp full distance.

anyone else noticed it's a fixed distance of 18-19au when u undock and warp straight away?

This one should be fixed because shields are topped up when you dock, why not power too?
Not to mention those camped in a station can't really leave the system because of the need to wait or warp twice while the campers only need to warp once.

Happens to me all the time in my Claw and in shuttles. I believe it's a couple of bugs really. Bug one is that your cap is almost completely drained when you undock. Bug two is the display isn't displaying your true capacitor status. Whatever it is, it's been around for a long time, so it must be hard to pin down. One thing is certain and that is one day it's going to get me killed: undocking with zero cap is pretty suicidal if enemies are around.
