I came back to EVE today for a visit after playing WOW all summer :-P to find that CCP has done radical surgery on the EVE map and on missiles.
I undocked from Gelfiven and found it was something like 15 jumps (!) to get back to civilization. Puzzled I flew to Lustrevik and found out why: when I warped to the Yulai gate in Lustrevik THERE WAS NOTHING THERE EXCEPT A BILLBOARD !!!
To get to Forge I had to go through Hek which is some total backwater and involves a low security jump as well.
I can't believe they did this. Frankly as a Gallente Heimatar is not crucial for me, but for the Minmatars they are now cut off from civilization with long, dangerous journeys to the major markets. Nobody ever lived in Genesis, but now I am sure Genesis is basically a wasteland. Corps will take their newbs there like an eve gate field trip: see here is Genesis where once players actually went at one time long in the past.
This change is hurting all the players because now we must waste even more time than before flying around before doing something meaningful. No wonder WOW has a million subscribers.
Then I saw what they did to missiles. I can't believe that. A friend told me a lot of Caldari trained pilots quit EVE and it doesn't surprise me. Luckily I have a lot of Gallente and gun training. If I were Caldari I would not even consider coming back now considering that they just made all the missile stuff worthless. All those Caldari pilots are now probably trying to decide whether to be a Paladin or a Shaman.
My friend says balance will hopefully eventually be restored. I am not holding my breath.

I don't see any posts by Minmatars. How are you guys dealing with the "adversity"? No problem at all? Practically the same as before?
And to the one Caldari poster: from your post am I to assume you still fly ravens? What do you fly for missions? PVP? From everything that I can see even a cruiser can now pwn a raven. I won't even undock in one of my ravens after seeing the changes.
I am not surprised to see the rest of the respondents are neither Caldari or Minmatar since they are the ones who have benefited (massively) from the changes.
I for example have my base in Alentene so I will be even richer than ever, but I am trying to speak for all those who got hosed.

From the one Minmatar poster so far:
Originally by: babyblue
Travel in Eve is one of the most soul destroying, idioticly extended and pointless activities man ever devised to torture his fellow man. And as the OP points out, CCP went and made it err, longer.
I rest my case.
And btw I just went to the ships forum and virtually all the posts are about gun fittings and gun ships. Its a total reversal from the situation in the spring where 50-60% of the posts were raven related. Now its manticore this, megathron that, Ishtar the other thing. I couldn't believe it there are actually posts on Vexors. Six months ago the Vexor was strictly a museum ship.
I love these changes since I am a Gallente but I don't see the balance. If you are trying to tell me Ravens are just fine why is nobody try to figure out how to fit them?

So maybe I should take a second look and learn the new skills?
Rod, are you saying that the Raven is still the ship you fly every day?

I went to Niyabainen 9.19 to check out the ship population and there were a few so I guess the Raven is not obsolete yet.
The biggest change was there was so few ships there! There used to be dozens of ships flying in and out of that station constantly. Did they nerf missions or something?
Anyway CCP added asset search. That makes up for all their sins.

PS: Can I have you stuff?
Actually I have only one 60, and he can run and dance and tell silly jokes automatically.
And no, nobody can ever have all my stuff. It's going to be buried with me in my tomb in New Eden.

I have to admit there is one thing in EVE I really missed while I played WOW this summer: the sigs.

Quoted for truth.
la la la, and in all honesty you and your partner Khatred should go back to playing your "household" on the Sims

Yeah, before you start sneering at WOW you should know that the end game content involves very challenging (lag free) encounters which require 40 (not 30, not 35) max level players all on TeamSpeak to have a chance of succeeding. To win these encounters players have to schedule them a week in advance and devise elaborate strategies with diagrams and use custom-scripted user interfaces (yes, in WOW you can write scripts in LUA to modify your interface and automate it). A lot of advanced WOW players would consider the typical EVE fleet battle to be small zerg. There is more skill to WOW than you might imagine if you have not played it.
