The very new player will never have a chance to do anything. Even though this guy claims to have killed 50000 ships in his impairor with his almighty civilian gatling laser, those of us with brain know that any total newb has absolute zero chance of doing anything ever. Slowly as more time goes on the gap narrows. New people will always and forever be behind older players. However, the difference between these players will grow less significant over time. A total noob with 50000 skill points could never dream of beating a dreadnaught captain with 30 million. But 2 months later, when the now not so noob has 2 million skill points and the mega super dude has 32 million... ok well he still wont have any chance whatsoever against a dreadnaught. Well ok then say a year later, when the semi veteran (but still lil ***** noob compared to uber man) has a nice 10 million skill points. AH HA! Uber dude has 40 million now, and he also has the rank 64 skill titan to level 5 and is flying a starbase. Yeah total noob guy is still screwed. You see, they will continually release new skills, and as the newer people start to catch up, the veterans will be learning the skills that require in game time of more than the new player has been around. The only hope for the new player is that the veteran player is stupid, tactically inferior, gets podded without a clone, or sells the new player his account. But hey, dont worry noob people, there will be more new people that will join the game that YOU will be forever better than because of the real time based skill advancement system in eve! Just hope the game stays alive for another 5 years and when the guy who played from beta is God of eve, and you are flying a starbase, there is some other dumb guy who joins the game that you can laugh at!!!!!
but on a serious note, you will have to be faster quicker and smarter to make up for the people who have more time in game. Basically you have to make up for your lack of in game mechanics based skills with the real thing.
but hell beats killing a million goblins or something |
