How long will pirates continually be nerfed... I can see in a few patches when you go to attack someone a message popping up saying "This is not an NPC pirate". Why should we constantly have to put up with updates that are maybe 90% for the "goodie 2 shoes" of EVE. Now if anyone gets killed its their own fault, with the long invulnerability time, and then being able to warp straight away without any kind of down time for the warp drive, whos fault is it they got killed certainly not the pirates. If an indy pilot things he can plow thru a blockade then goes and whines about pirates on the board after hes been podded, that just aint right.

Oh look, another m0oing pirate carebear.
PC rats have forgotten, this is not THEIR game to the exclusion of others. YOUR not the only one who wants to have fun.
On a side note, its about bloody time something was done about coward rats and their jumping through gates when damaged.
Payback, its a beach, ain't it? It ain't over till the fat lady falls on ya!

However - if the original poster had any kind of brain and any idea how to fight he would realise that after the next patch - PIRATING WILL BE EASIER!!!! ---------------------------------------------------

I don't think the nerfing of MWD out of warp will make that much of a difference, but as always, it'll have to be tested to know for sure :p ________________________________________________

I'm not going to comment about all the other nerfs but warning you its not an NPC pirate is probably a good thing.
If someone like Lord Zap has you in his sights I don't think it really matters if a message pops up to tell you he's not an NPC.+
Lol if an unescorted indy pilot cries bout being killed by a pirate he has no sympathy ever mate. ----- Janus "I'm not a stripper, I'm a miner." |

Here we have a game with a few pirates moaning that the focus of patching is towards the majority of players (non-pirates), rather than towards the little sods that want to ruin the game for the rest. If some players want a co-operative game and a few want to blow them up ... it should be difficult for the few to ruin the game for the many.
Most online games have systems to restrict who can attack who so that you don't get the rediculously one-sided combat that the pirates love so much ... I look forward to hearing their whining if that ever comes in to play here.

Yeah but he would have much less to whine about if you would only have taken his ship...I mean what's the additional gain other then being even more hammered on the boards?
That's at least and extra 500k you can not take from him the next time you encounter him.
Devs have a notorious amount of love for carebears. Time and several MMORPGs should have pointed that out by now. So if you're not keeping a low profile like smart pirates, it's not very weird you're getting smacked by the nerfball.
I think that instead of nerfing the pirates, their 'natural predators' should be upgraded. Just give them both the ability to track downplayers who are trying to hide (both sides). And the right to attack -5.0 pirates in Empire space.
OT - Icho if you want Tripod to show your sig you have to upload it and rename it without extension --- soonÖ |

Yet again another pirate who is complaining because piracy is made a challenge as opposed to the risk free occupation it is.
They are only stopping pirates using jumpgates to escape immediately.
This stops pirates from having a guaranteed risk free escape route.
They can still escape via Warp or main engines but will now have to think more carefully about how they carry out attacks.
Just face up to it - if you attack someone you are not guaranteed to escape.
Who are the carebears now ?

Chaps! Really ... don't be so silly m'dears. The addition of jumpgate closures for violent acts is absolutely nothing in comparison to the ending of module activation in warp. The next patch will be the golden age of piracy. No industrial or rapid transit cruiser will be safe from the threat of robbery. The increased time from warp exit to gate transit will be absolutely an age in the context of hostile action. Only mooncalf fools and reckless adventurers will take unescorted indies through 0.0 thoughtlessly. And thats how it should be. Perhaps the day of the professional convoy escorter will arrive as well?
Please take my word on this; I've some little experience in blockade running after all ;)

Edited by: NGRU Rix on 30/07/2003 16:18:20 The only way I see to counter the problem that MWD in Warp fixed is this:
When you come out of warp there is a period of time where you are unable to target anything due to your Warp Field re-aligning itself. Ok, that makes sense, the sensors cannot read through the massive distortion field around the ship that allowed you to travel at 2 AU/S. Once that Distortion is gone, the sensors can read the normal area of space.
Well, this should work both ways. If I cannot obtain a satisfactory lock due to my Warp Field around my ship, no one should be able to get a lock on me through that same warp field.
Not to nerf anything, but, it makes sense to me. Equal both ways...

Really? LOL...
I just assumed it was not becuase I have been locked immediatley when coming out of warp before. By that I mean before I was able to make a lock.
That was a while ago however...

Edited by: Sixxshooter on 30/07/2003 16:42:14 you likely haven't been locked immediately, just your threat indicater pops up to tell you a hostile is in the area:
yellow: hostile in area orange: he's targeted you red: he's firing at you
A lot of pirates may use skills and mods to lower lock-on time to about 1 sec, so they can generally lock you much quicker than you can lock them once the warp interference clears.
edit: the hud now shows a red targetting bracket around ships that are targeting you, so it's somewhat easier to tell now.

As I said, this was a while back and it was not a threat warning. It was a lock, but, as long as it does work correctly, I'm happy.
