I got the EVE Online Starter Pack and started this account. The starter pack comes with a bunch of skillbooks. About half of them are skills that all characters have by default. Why are they part of the starter pack? Why not provide skillbooks for skills we don't have? Last, what am I supposed to do with these? If every character has the skills, why would they buy the skillbooks?

what skills are those? One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia Malcanis for CSM8 |

because marketing execs don't actually ever know what it is they are selling?
I don't know exactly what books come with it, but I'd hope that they aren't just ones given away in the tutorial. You do occasionally get spare books from the tutorials, and yes, they are worthless. But some books you're expected to buy yourself while doing the tutorials, which sellers *can* reclaim some of the value. Maxim 34: If you're leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun. |

The skillbooks include both skills that you start with already trained a few levels and a few that you get in the tutorials. The ones I started with include Electronics, Engineering, Mechanics, Navigation, Spaceship Command, Caldari Frigate (I'm Caldari and the kit includes a basic Condor fitting/ship). The ones you get from the tutorial, I'm not sure of all of them, but Propulsion Jamming was one of them. There were approximately 12 to 15 skillbooks. I've bought several since I posted, so I don't have the exact list.
edit: I'm not complaining too much, just thought it was weird. The prototype cerebral accelerator and 30 days game time was worth the $5. Very. |

Dont ask questions.
Just put the spares up for sale.
Oh yes, and you can 'inject' a skillbook when you get it, so the skill stays in your head, unlike the skillbook that can be destroyed if your ship blows up. |

If you don't ask questions, you'll never get answers. Who knows, maybe they'll see their error and give me some juicy skillbooks. And, yes, I understand injecting the skills, which is how I discovered that I already had the ones I listed. |
