In a mighty battle today in e02, the brave pilots of NBSI engaged and destroyed a fleet of VI pilots, in the middle of the battle, VI commited it uptimate weapon, a Moros class Dreadnought.
As the Force of NBSI turned the tide of the battle, the Dreadnought was destroyed by the rightous pilots of the NBSI warmachine.
This is a glorious day for NBSI and the northern alliances.

We had multiple pilots running fraps during the battle.
NBSI like to thank VI for having the biggest balls in the universe, first to commit the Dread, and then to keep warping everything they had back in to help it.

NBSI jumped into a VI bubble camp, so it was a close range knife fight (we were fitted for sniping, with short range ammo loaded lol), the Dread then warped in, and got grabbed by VI's bubbles, so it was VERY much inrange, as several NBSI BS pilots found out lol

I think you completely missed the point of my post diana, I wasnt saying they can't comment I just thought it was lame to see peeps saying it wasn't a big deal, yes the actual economic impact might not be anythign at all, but as far a seve history goes, this is a big deal. not tryign to smack, and I dont see anywhere int hsi post where we have smacked.

I had the honor of being there, I actually watched the whole thing cloaked from a distance (zoom out ftw). When our ships decloaked my heart started beating like hell, but when the moros warped in, I was going mad.
Respect to -V- for bringing it on on a daily basis, and for bringing out such a ship.

we jumped in with 19bs, but we lost 7 ish, we're still counting kills/losses. Dread went down pretty hard. Fraps to come, peeps, will be tomorrow sometime, as i need to get everyones fraps dl'd to me and then sorted out.

was by far best time in eve for myself, LD did a whole lot of dmg with that thing, but the battle kept going with thier downed guys coming back with new ships, thought it was going on for hours. Eventually thier numbers dwindled and with a gang of 20 remaining ships the dread was left solo as target. We lost about 7-10 BS, downed 1 Dread and about 8-9 enemy BS. Numbers are still being collected and posted to our killboard, vids will be galore soon (tm), great evening flying, great battle, great game

The was a huge battle and people on both sides showed real guts (including the swarming frigs defending the Dread).
Respect to DJ Lightning and Nyxus for showing great organisation / leadership. Respect to Cart for breaking the eve-universe speed record to get to the fight on time.
For once I was in the fray and not making a cup of tea. Best cup of tea I've ever missed.

I dont believe it was in siege mode, only man who can answer that is LD himself, I know for sure there was at least 5 t2 dampeners on him, 4 from a celestis and 1 from me

It takes a ton of ice to be able to use it. It also take 10minutes to deploy siege. And once you are in siege you cant boost the Dread.
It's iffy to know if it's worth it or not. Movies will be coming tomorrow, lots of fraps.

Was some mentions recently in the Ships&Modules section that siege mode seems to be broken and stuff works in it like usual... no idea if it's one-time glitch or just regular bug :/

I sensor dampened him. Had the mods activated on the target. But looking through my logs, i can¦t see any input, that states, that i did sensor dampened the Moros

Very well Chris, I take it you are some NBSI person?
Anyhow, nothing to be bitter about. I'm giving credit to the one pilot in this thing who did something of merit. Warped in a Dread into a fight which most others wouldnt have. He was the first, and he went down fighting. Props to him.

Very well Chris, I take it you are some NBSI person?
Anyhow, nothing to be bitter about. I'm giving credit to the one pilot in this thing who did something of merit. Warped in a Dread into a fight which most others wouldnt have. He was the first, and he went down fighting. Props to him.

But you wouldnt get props to NBSI for killing it, you don't think your alliance would deserve props for killing one?

We kill Ravens in a bunch of frigs everyday (and yes before patch when Ravens pwned frigs too)... Its nothing merit worthy. Lay down enough firepower and everything dies.

I'm gathering my stuff for school and thinking about how depressing it was going to be that I was missing the battle that I was listening to on comms...
I'm moving around the house and comms chatter is lasting a long time. This is a pretty long one...
Then it occurs to me.
My friends are fighting and I'm no where near the action. When I'm logging on I have no idea that we're going after a dreadnaught until I remember that we were being stalked by one earlier. Realizing that they might be engaging the first dreadnaught in Eve, I start freaking out on my computer trying to get to the battle. I warp in just as the last defenders are warping off or being killed.
Upon arrival I noted one very obvious fact. -V- put up one Hell of a fight. It was pretty obvious that they were fighting really hard just by listening to comms, but by the time I arrived on the field in my interceptor, I could not believe the chaos that I saw.
Frozen corpses.
Loot cans.
and above all, the drones. there must have been 300 drones just scattered about the field.
After taking all of that in, I could only come to one conclusion. -V- put up a tenacious defence of thier dreadnaught, and I can find no reason for them to feel any shame over this loss. And this is coming from the view of a very biased bystander.
The fact that some pilots within thier alliance had thier battleships killed, pods killed, only to arrive in another battleship which was also killed shows courage and tenacity which is very rare. It shows a lot of integrity which is to be met with the highest accords of honour and if we are to remember this battle in the history of Eve, I (for one) would like for the records to show that -V- alliance threw all caution to the wind and used every last possible resource availible to them to defend thier friends.

That was a great fight and my heart runned fast.
The last 5 mins alone vs ~15 BS was my best fight i see.
Was a really good Battle and good leadership from NBSI. The Lag was terrible ( CCP) but the fight great. On both sides.
We will learn again and we hope for good fight in the future.

I must agree, GW is the worst place for fleet battles. You guys need to come to VOL-M or U-Q.
I lost my 1 BS in fleets in GW (B-VIP) to G and it was sheer agony watching my ship dying for over 40 seconds while my mods went off and on, disappeared then reappeared. CCP really does need to fix it.
Because I wanna come fight there too.

we ignored the dread until the support -V- fleet was destroyed, knowing that the dread would take years to align, we just tried to keep it scrammed, lost alot of tacklers doing it, he crawled out of the bubble as we didn't bother to web.
I was in a tackler, but then swiftly in a pod once i tackled the dread, watching a huge swarm of drones coming at me is scary, and when your orbiting a draed at 500metres, zoomed out abit, and it still takes up your whole screen, you feel awed.

I'm proud that I was in this epic battle. Kudos to V for actually takin the dread into combat. My deepest respect for that, and also my deepest respect to the brave pilots who defended it so brave... but couldn't u have left my insignificant scorp alone?

I also want to thank my guys for keeping their spirits up and commiting to the fight all this time.When 3 corps left their burning homes in immensea to search for a new future,nobody knew that they would be the founders of the first alliance to ever kill a Dreadnought. You made the EvE history books people,and we have to thank -V- for giving us the chance to do so,and being the worthy opponents they prove to be every single day.
P.S. I think GW is the Bermuda Triangle of EvE.I was moving around in my vagabond a couple of days ago,and it was locking asteroid belts on its own

I think as dread tactics develop, so will there survivability increase. I predict people will use multiple dreads and will have firesupport specifically dedicated to addressing "dread defense." Target lists will exist for dreads and then others. Finally, I think dreads will be committed to battles in a complimentary manner. Specifically in this regard range will become a force for the multiple dread wielding attackers. We know projectiles and lasers can hit smaller targets much better from range. I can see a ranged dread clearing entire fleets of tacklers from afar.
All in all, it's very interesting although the cost of learning by dying in the case of dreads might make it hard for the average, non cap2 bpo owning, flyer to really learn too much that way

It is, but the first BS killed was at a time when most people were impressed with a Moa, and BS were very overpowered. Dreads are not. :]

Insurance cost is ~500M and payout ~1.5B if I remember correctly.

Congratulations to all the involved parties, reading this long tread ... I try to imagine the fight ... untill I see the video I can only try to imagine ...
But one thing is obvious a huge and noble fight took place yesterday, the Dread Pilot didn't log, the V alliance presented a true corp spirit, fighting untill the end.
Both alliances showed a tremendous fighting power .
To both alliances I want to present my deepest respect ...
For the -V- Alliance I have to say ... You might have lost the Dread but in the long term, you have won a lot. Speaking for my self you have became a model of what a Alliance trully should be.

If its the same dread i saw a kill mail for, This dread was not tanked, it was ganka setup. I mean thats what a dread is made for, to tank. it had mag field stab ii's, tracking comps, one tracking comp was even a gallente navy un.

Sorry to say this but, A full Gank Moros is just stupid if you're going to go against a ton of battleships. Tank it or lose it. And you did

Ok first off i suppose killing the first dread was good but to LD you dont give a dread a gank setup thats just plain stupid. A dread without a tank would be easy to take out also with siege mode it would have lasted longer but with nothing to repair it it would of died. Also without XL drones like the other guy said it doesnt do anywhere near the damage its capable of.
Also not having a go but warping a dread into your own warp bubble is just asking for trouble.
Uggs386 or whatever ya name is, you say you had a normal fleet battle like similar sizes. I dont call you having 19 BS and them having 8 BS and a dread a similar size fleet and that was an NBSI guy who gave those figures.

Well,if you bother to check the killboards you will see that confirmed BS kills on that fight are 17..So,V didnt have 8 BS + a dread xD
Also NBSI doesnt have the numbers to outblob other alliances..Our main operations are like 30 in gang TOPS (till today) vs double the numbers..So,we're just sooo coooool and you're just sooo jealous Psion ;)

And btw taking down a dread aint that special it aint exactly a primary combat ship is it. When i thought about a dread like a year ago i was expecting 6-8 weapon slots and ubers to stick on it but although they do do alot of damage it can still be taken out fairly easy.
The repairers repair like 6,250 damage every 30 seconds isit not including the reduction from skills. I reckon i could do that much damage in 20 seconds by myself which means every other BS out there is just dishing out damage to kill its armor and hull so not that tough. Siege mode would be alot harder 1/2 the repair time and double the repair amount sounds likea really tough target though

Props to all sides involved. I appreciate LD's courage to take the dread into battle while probably fully understanding that the dread might die. However, one should also think about the relative loss (and 'balls') in question. For someone with 10m in wallet and little or no income, taking a battleship into battle probably takes more balls than someone with 50bn in wallet taking a dread into battle. Not that I know anything about dread owners' wealth, but that's something one should consider when talking about the size of pilots' coconuts.

I reckon i could do that much damage in 20 seconds by myself which means every other BS out there is just dishing out damage to kill its armor and hull so not that tough. Siege mode would be alot harder 1/2 the repair time and double the repair amount sounds likea really tough target though
actually rep is 9800 for 1 singal rep and times that by 2 in siege mode, and half reduction in rep, so repping 9800 * 2 in 15 secs in siege mode and thats only using 1 rep
and I remeber one dread in test server was tanking like what 20-30 bs's for about 7mins in non siege mdoe?

I'll tell you whats more impressive, after the massive battle, NBSI held the field, collected the loot, then flew back to empire, only to have a -v- fleet moving towards empire not 20mins later, in full force.
They keep coming and they like to fight, perfect enemy if u ask me

True, I see your point. But another aspect is relevant. Building the monster takes a lot of logistics. At first you need freighters in order to handle the volumes. It is a long path involving a lot of investment, team-support - simply hard work. Now our logistics are in shape ... :-)
I'd like to ammend that it is a little sad reading a lot of smack talk in the thread. NBSI took us down, we did some tactical mistakes, a dread went down and this is it ... NBSI won the round, there can't be any misunderstaning - and we appreciate the honorable way the posting were issued by NBSI.

If I would have frapped, it would have been not a movie but a comic. The two bubbles created bad bad bad lag. I flew 20km from the dread and jammed scorps, but only realized with the killmail, that I had been killed by elite-frigs. I didn¦t see any frigs near me.

According to a mix of the killmail and the intel I remember recieving before combat, I speculate the moros setup was:
* 1 blaster, 2 rails
* t2 tracking comp, gal navy tracking comp, sensor booster
* 1 capital armor rep and the rest lows tracking and damage mods.
A swarm of heavy drones (but since cart died in a ceptor, he could have had a swarm of med/lights too)
I believe I heard there were one or more cruisers boosting him, but I can't be sure since that was in the heat of the battle (they got called primaries anyway XD).
At the range the bubble brought LD, I wouldn't expect those rails to hit a slightly moving planet. He may have had more than one blaster though, or it was just that one that started wrecking all the havoc...
Ofc, I'd love to hear light darkness say what his exact setup was and what was the reasoning behind it.
EDIT: nathrezim, there is no siege module on the killmail, but it could have dropped. I remember someone shouting the loot from the dread, and I don't remember to have heard anything about a siege module. Actually, in this case, the siege module wouldn't have changed much, on the contrary, it could have made things worse for them. In siege mode he wouldn't be able to shoot at anything with that immense tracking penalty and thus our losses would be less, and we would have killed more people coming in trying to rescue him (you'll be amazed to their persistence, they kept coming back within seconds. Luckily for us, the comebacks were solo).

And respect to Veritas and LD. People can argue about if it was wise or not to risk the dreadnought, if the fitting was good or not or if the tactics was right or not. Doesn't change anything about the fact that Veritas/LD was probably the first who were brave enough to bring a dreadnought to such a risky fleet battle. Eve history was written on that day and people call it one of their best fights ever. Ok, quite expensive entertainment, but we don't have to pay the bill.

But if it hasnt been said, a dread isnt really a fleet ship, especially not a blaster dread, though a moros is a bit more useful at close range cos of its drone bay. Not to mention they are just as succeptible to damps and tracking disruptors as any other ship
At the end of day, its just another ship, and many more will die in the coming months. The praise should really go to LD for bringing it out rather than NBSI for taking it down as that is the easy part (dont wanna belittle ya, i just dont think its all that great that you can kill a ship doing something its not really designed for)

Well I wonder why a lot of the ATUK guys wonder why they don't get a fight while other people have fun killing each other. I think there is a nice explication. The mean difrence between you and alliances like V is that they are honourable, don't smack (most parts of the alliance and and the few who do, will get shut up by their gangmates) and are generaly nice to other people (after fighting quite a few alliances that was my impression).
Treat your opponent like you want to be treaten. So all the mud you were throwing at other players you're now recieving again. Stop crying!
