I use an armor tanked Raven against Blood and Sansha missions. It is better at it than trying to shield tank against these rats. You will run out of cap fast enough if you shield boost with an XL, and these laser shooting rats have infinite cap.
Another reason for me to use an armor tanked configuration is due to the using target painters. Prior to the patch I don't need to. Fighting another BS is not the problem, it's those inties.
I do enough damage with my cruises so I can lay down a commander rat like the Mordu Mammoth without a problem. Although sometimes, I trim off all the other rats and leave the big ones for my HACs to exercise on.

Dunno where you've been for the last 2 years but the raven actually got a grid nerf because armor tank ravens were so uber.

Ya Ravens got nerf on grid cause them uber raven tanks :) also raven dual mwd caused the elimination of putting more than one mwd on ships :)
personally i think ccp is trying to make every ship = to each other. its ghay with all the nerfs especially caldari ships. they got the big stick in the back end...

Armor tanking Ravens...what a great way to get yourself killed.
think outside the box 5 slot armor tank ent bad. on the other hand, 6 slots full of EW and running a full tank is REALLY good

hmm lets see. over the years, THE most popular raven setups have been dadrummdrumm dishc.
2 mwd raven 2 large armorreppers, 3 hardeners, 6 cap recharger II's and a full rack of sieges.
thats why armorrepairers take so much grid, and the raven has so little of it. --------------------------

ok I'll explain in a very slow voice...
Ravens ALWAYS shield tanked, so armour tanking them feels wierd.. dead simple. Yes I know it works... honestly get a frigging personality , better yet leave your computer for more than an afternoon per month and you might just get one.
Honestly, some people....

Armour tanked Raven works very well in 1v1 or 1v2 pvp. 6 med slots for an evil EW set up. Lethal.

Armour tanked Raven (Fitted with cruise due to pg constraints) vs Shield tanked Raven fitted with torps in a 1v1 duel. Any bets on who'd end up in the scrap heap?

Depends what armor tanker fit on mids... with good fit you will not lock :)

lets say you are 70km from a target. You lock him first and start firing. He puts damps on you and your locking distance is now 20km... you loose lock... if you are closer then 20km on the other hand

tnx for explanation :=) but how does works the adding of another dampener? ex: i use 1 dampener 50% and his lock goes down to 50% of the original one...but if i put on a second dampener?...he wont goes down to 0... right?

Forget the armor tank, just fit wcs in the lows, EW in the mids and cruise/seige in the high..
As Ive seen demonstrated lately.. VERY hard ship to kill..
Sure it hits like a girl, and cant break a standard 4 slot BS tank.. but very effective when theres 2 or 3 of them.

Pre-patch I used to use a Raven for hunting Bloods in 0.0, it makes a lot more sense than shield tanking against them as you have a higher natural base resistances and it's considerably easier to run an armour tank over an extended period of time.
My setup was as follows:
6x Siege 2x Med. smartbombs (no grid for anything useful tbh)
6x Cap recharger II's
1x Large rep II 1x Med rep II 1x Therm hardener 1x EM hardener 1x RCU
I didn't experiment too much with this tbh, it worked rather well, the only thing that struck me was that the cap recharge was a bit OTT, you could probably quite easily drop a recharger or two for some target painters/webs and still run the reps indefintley with decent skills.

It's only a good idea if you intend to use the mid slots properly.
and the person who asked to let this thread drop has thier reasons, usually when people find non-traditional ways to fit certain ships a nerf usually comes out of nowhere.
Dual-mwd, long-range-torp, cap relay-ravens being a thing of the past is a good example.

Edited by: The Wizz117 on 28/09/2005 17:04:29 Wrong wrong wrong: you can not fit armor tanking on a raven couse it needs lowlots for damage mots. there aint a singel damage mod for missiles on the med(no target painters are not for missiles, dont work for missiles and are not designed for them at all) so screw the armor tanking for raven. also people like nanofibers on lows, since the raven got less speed and worste interna as all the other battle ships.
