I love clusters, and have designed a beowulf cluster for my college as a project. Just wondering if any of the devs have some pictures of the server room ^_^

As you walk in, through the white Double doors, the emptyness of the room strikes you at first.
Its walls are whitewashed brick, Its floor is white Rubber.
In the centre of the room, sitting on the floor, is a Wireless Bluetooth laptop.
Eve runs from here.
Sitting on the ground, polishing his Nerfbat, Tomb.
Huddled in the corner, surroudned by reams of paper with Sketches on them, Keiron.
Ovuer Is also here. He is Sitting next to the laptop, gazing as the eve server manager displays simple barcharts.
the door is locked.
It is a Sad Place.

You are lucky, I sneaked into their secret server room and took a quick picture. Sorry for the bad quality, it is a camera phone  Oh I think that was Tomb there yelling, couldn't tell.

Actually...they use minmatar slaves, which provoked a very loud ultimatum from the Usra'kahn(sp) recently.

wouldnt it be better to hook up the servers to a waterwheel.

I say they use geothermic power form a volcano that occassionally either destroys the equipment with a burst of lave, or is in fact dormant...

Yeah, I remember just after Exodus went live, there were server troubles, I went undercover, disguised as a zebra crossing in the heart of london, to infiltrate the CCP HQ and get a look at teh servers...

The pictures in this thread are going to be much more...interesting than the reality. IBM servers in racks. They'll all be black, because IBM thinks black never goes out of fashion. Oh, and they're right really - racks of black servers with a few green lights here and there do look pretty cool.
A lot of my company's kit is in the same building as CCP's stuff. It's a big place (I got lost and had to phone someone for directions the first time I went there) with most of the suites taken up by telecoms companies. We mostly have IBM hardware too: a mainframe plus we're steadily migrating the x345's to Blade Servers. Blades look pretty cool too, but a rack of them generates a crapload of heat.
We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at stars.

Damn, I wish my computer were as cool as that one. Such a shame they moved to C and Java instead of continuing with Fortran. Boy, are we behind the times. Look where we could have been.

I looked back through all the blogs as there was a picture of the cluster at one point. Sadly the picture has been removed but here are some links for a couple of cluster related blogs from the last few years.
Oveur in April 2004 on the Server upgrades

lol it amazes me to see that picture altered and completely mislabeled :) Funny in this aspect but thats no model of an intended home computer, that friends is a nuclear reactor control panel off of a ship, albeit an antique :p

Maybe like the fifth image, all the others are not space or heat aware installations and were done by amateurs who thought they would save money using tower equipment.
