i like eve, but i am now wondering if i actually have the time to put into the game to be a uber player. Most of the people in my corp have alts, and have been playing a long time. I work 2 jobs, and can't spare 5-6 hours a day to play eve...maybe I need to rethink what i'm doing.
how many hours do most of you put into the game per day?

I play less than 2 hours per day... most days less than an hour and I make 1-200 Million per week. Once you have a proven way to make ISK, if you do it right, it pretty much runs without you.

I only play a couple of hours a day for the last 3 months, although I play weekeds I have missed the odd week or two during this time. But I have got enough money for a BS and a decent setup. If your really stuck try trading to make money.

After 10 months of play I still have no clue how to earn enough money to buy a BS by soloing in high sec space. The price of defeat is absolutely to high and that brings out the worst in people. Other than that the anti mwd deadspace complexes don't make much sense in my opinion either. Why kill the MWD? I constantly feel outgunned also. :) :(
But I still play it and will continue so.

I would recommend mining. when i started out the game i made some friends ingame who introduced me into mining higher end minerals. In EC-P8R i learned how to mine crokite successfully i had my dad who plays the game with me help so i suggest you join the corp. The best way to do it is make allies friends in the system who are there regulary and wont shoot you. When your doing this you also need good bm only on rare occasions do they put up warp bubbles. To start up this you need to get a cruiser preforably a osprey or scythe and a hauler of any kind.
I did this for quite a while got myself up to a sum of around 400mil this gives you alot of options.
Trading Fighting mixture of both
I went on to bigger corps and now i dont mine and can make money easily

If you¦re going solo in EVE then i¦d say its a very difficult game to play, and even worse to make money. Since you¦re obviosly been playing for 10 months i trust you with having sufficent skills to pilot a battleship and got good skills with either guns or missiles.
My advice to you would be either:
1: Start doing alot (and i meen alot) of agentmissions and earn your money from that. Takes time and depending on personal view - could be fun. And once you¦ve gotten enough isk for a BS, talk to an alliance covering a wide area of 0.0 about a hunting pass. I¦d recommend trying with BoB since their region should be the safest one at this moment. On a sidenote thou, hunting in 0.0 can end very quickly to the destruction of your newly bought battleship. Always keep a very close eye on local, huntingpass or not.
2: Join a corporation or alliance and make your money from "corp mining ops" or other... payed adventures supported by your alliance/corp. I remember my first PvP corp , Omegacorp, used to have mining OPs going for Bistot while getting payed several milions per hour depending on our miningskills ships and number of lasers/drones.
However, the longer you stay in EVE and get more & more friends and allies, the easier EVE will get. Its probably the worst game atm for a newcommer if you dont get anykind of help. But then again, getting help should¦nt be to hard since there are many many players who are very experienced in how to make it. But take it easy on the questions thou, every players has learned everything the know through experience and gameplay. So if you start comming with "obvious" questions constantly, they might block you for being a PITA (Pain In The Arse).
I might have ATUK in my tag, but i have OC in my DNA

Think deadspace is meant to be this way to make it a bit difficult. Fixed warp-in point through the gate, no mwd, no bookmarks.
In the beginning deadspace was even more difficult. NPCs like cruisers and rogue drones flew at high speed. Like cruisers approaching with 550-800 m/s, rogue drones already orbiting you at insane speeds a few seconds after aggro'ing them. Then the patch came that reduced the speed of NPCs in deadspace.

You dont need a 200 mill + battleship with fittings to make isk. Try a cruiser or assault frig for pvp/pve or go the trading, mining route and you should be in the isk in no time.
Of course there is the role playing much despised ore thief, mission looter you could try. Which can be very profitable but watch out for those suicide frigs.
Maybe you need to get a little dirtier and not be so honest, go on you know you want to. |

Buy a BS?
1st don't buy a BS ... build a BS!
2nd get into missions and you would be able to buy a BS

Wasn't going to read through all the replies, but I believe the biggest factor to success in this game when you start as a noob is getting hooked up with a good corp that participates in ALL areas of the game. So PVP, manufacturing, trade, all that stuff, because whatever you decide to do, you need to know a bit about all of those things to be really successful in the game.
Find a corp that has some senior players that take the nooobs under their wings and show them the ropes. Most corps out there are really nothing more than chat rooms filled with people that really don't know how to play all areas of the game and/or are not interested in passing along or teaching new players how to be successful.
If you've been playing that long, and STILL haven't figured out the things you talk about in your post, you are hanging out with the wrong group of players and in some dead beat corporations. Time to move along and since you have a great attitude, I'm sure you'll be successful.
