Dont pay... Why? Becouse if you do pay all your doing is Encouraging the ebil piret to do it again,, and again,, and again..
Come on peaple, think about it, they want your isk, thats what they live and breath for, why give them what they want so they can get rich and do it again?
Dont pay and we will all be better off. :)

It's normally cheaper to pay the ransom then to pay for a head full of implants and expensive clone. So its a win win I would say.

Wrong. Paying encourages them to ransom more in the future, not paying encourages them to just gank you. Not paying is not going to stop them from being pirates.

What we need is more people to FIGHT pirates.

So, it is better to make a stand and loose 150 mil in ship and mods, and possibly your pod as well, rather than paying 30 mil and leave with everything intact? Not sure you're gonna gain followers with arguments like this. If people stop paying we'll just wreck more ships.

My philosophy is that while im sure there are genuine role playing pirates in the game, chances are your being done over by a person that just wishes to see you suffer a loss for their own gain (i don't pretend to even know what goes through the mind of these people, never been one gladly)
Day 'i' lower myself to even think about satisfying these people is the day i quit.

If a player refuses to pay ransom on principle I can respect that. But thinking that it will stop piracy is naive.
If everyone stopped paying tomorrow, pirates would just stop asking for ransom and shoot first.

that is also true but being a pirate hunter is one of the most ungrateful jobs there is.
every carebear in sight wants celes apoc to come rescue them as soon as they see a pirate but nobody is willing to contribute any hard currency to help them do it.
if you truly wants more people to start fighting pirates then maybe you should start donating some isk now and then to the anti pirate ppl around the galaxy, there isnt many of them and they do work hard and its a costly job.
put your money where your mouth is what this response was about.

I sometimes ask for a ransome, but I like it when they refuse to pay. I don't pirate to make ISK I do it for fun.

Not paying a fraction of the cost for your battleship, mods, implants, cargo and time is just foolish. All you're doing is wasting your time and ISK, and giving the pirates a kill mail to add to the collection, and a body to play with. Coming to think of it, you're giving much more by refusing to pay than if you hock up a few dozen millions or so (assuming you're in a BS). You're not losing any ISK by paying, you've already lost those ISK the moment you were caught. Why make it worse?

a fine idea there... then i will just blow ya up and take the mods instead and still get money but anyways tbh i dont ransom for the money if i wanted to get rich in eve there are much easier ways tbh ransoming would probably be the worst way as to many things can go wrong
let me put it simple i am a pirate and nothing u will ever do or say can change that fact and if i was not able to be a pirate then i would have no reason to play this game
hell the only reason i play is having fun and i would not trade that for all the iskies in eve m8
