the caracel is nothing but a caldari coathanger. and it makes the cerberus look about as threatening as a marshmallow. not that cerberus' are any more threatening than marshmallows. _______________________________________________

Minmatar Slasher, bleh talk about ugly, I do prefer Gallante and Amarr ships. But many of the ships are devoid of any higher functionality, unless you count the ORE mining ships...
Do you ever wonder why the ships turn like they are flying in air? They move like airplanes here in earth
The original Independence War ("I-war" for short) had it correct, sadly the reality isn't mirrored in Eve. I mean to make a 180 degree turn you spin the ship with side thrusters and after turning you open the thrusters again. You really can't control starships with just rear thrusters, you need many smaller counter-thrusters. And why are the ships flying always in the same way, why not upside down? It really doesn't matter in space.
But the most disturbing thing about all the ships is that they always seem to be like miniatyres. No real sense on size of things...

Good man. You obviously know quality when you see it. Gallente ships look great (well most of them anyway). The ugly ducklings in our fleet would have to be the Navitas, Exequeror, and the Dominix. But the Dominix makes up for that by being fearfully huge. :)
Highlights, in my opinion, the Incursus, the Maulus (tell me this thing isn't beautiful), and the Thorax.

How can you possibly leave our the Ishtar? It's the best-looking ship in the game.

It's a Vexor variant, and the Vexor is ... well it's kinda nice I guess. Oh wait, I should also add to my list the Tristan... that bad boy's always been one of the coolest looking ships in the game.

My first cruiser was a Moa So I'm biased, but I love that ship. It's built for pure function, who ever built it fully understands there is no Air in space, something the gallente just don't understand.
That "head" on the front, it just looks like it's going to pop out and strike you down.
Moa rocks. Caracal just looks like a drag racer, not like a space ship. Die Caldari haters! _ ____ _______ _________________________________________________________

Nah, first i also though how ugly...but when you start to use the ship you start to like the potatoo, schoolbus or however players call this flying design wreck.
I still say the Osprey is the ugliest ship.
Try a Teddybear spawn or the Teddybear complexes in Pure Blind, Syndicate or empire. |

Does it really matter what it looks like? All I am concerned about is the strengths/weaknesses of the craft I fly. For all I care CCP could give me a "make ship graphic a black box" button and messages like this could be put on the shelf.
I personally find that most of the Gal ships tend towards the penile in appearance. Why do all the Gals want ships shaped like that???
My husband made me post this.

Edited by: madaluap on 27/09/2005 14:42:06 i never started to train for minmatar because there ships were ugly but the bc of them really looks perfect with the blades on the side, a lot of respect for that designer. the brutix doesnt look as good as that, allthough i am a big gallente fan.

Well, we Gallente were pioneers in the adult holoreel industry. :) But seriously, I never thought about the thorax that way until someone pointed it out to me.

Have you looked at the profile view of the ever extending Iterons? Now they make the 'Rax look like a Gal plaything.

Are you nuts? :) The Brutix is one of the most amazing models in the game right now.
In fact, add that to my list of favorite ships. :) And the Catalyst too... a very photogenic ship to be honest.

I wonder if CCP will ever eventually justify replacing all the original designs with updated models over time... perhaps ship types could be phased out of production and replaced with newer "pod optimised" designs over the next few years, as the corporations caught up with the pod pilot boom...
just think, the successor to the merlin or caracal, more in line with the newer ships' styles.... virtually the same ship stats on the "2nd gen" ships, but visually more defined.
in the meantime, I would gladly offer to retexture the lower-res ships if CCP would email me the master files.... only condition I'd ask for would be to let me stick screenies of the work in my folio :) (ah, I wish, eh?)

About the shape of Thoraxes or holoreels? :) I've actually done one about the Thorax. Right here
