I am posting this thread separately from my regular logs after a rescue that occured 115.04.24 13:05 Below is a copy of that log post followed by an update from today.
Yesterday's Post:
GÇ£I sensed I was in trouble, so when I had the opportunity, I slipped in with a group of slaves heading for a debarkation bay in the station.GÇ¥ This was part of the story told us by one of the people we rescued today from the death can. Now and then, we rescue people other than slaves and their stories are often interesting. This manGÇÖs story is quite intriguing. He was picked up with a group of 70 others, 50 former slaves and 20 former Elite Slaves. When we docked in the temp center in Caldari space, this man identified himself as a member of a diplomatic consular mission from the Republic that was in the Empire to consult with members of the Amarrian government. The mission was regarding recent issues with the Caldari State and possible retaliatory terrorist activity against the Federation after the Caldari Prime incident. Why? we asked. "Some within our government are trying to ease tensions with the Federation over the Midular situation. If we could make efforts to prevent terrorism aimed at the Federation, we could make headway in this through Amarrian diplomatic channels." This Minmatar Emissary claims that talks began going badly and that some of their group disappeared. Fearing for his life, he managed to stow away aboard a capsuleer transport heading out of the Empire. ThatGÇÖs when he ended up dumped along with the others.
At this point we have not verified anything this man has told us and we are not sure that he is who he claims to be. I struggle with the plausibility of his story. We will try to find out more in days to come. We do know that he desperately pleaded with us to get him out of Caldari space. We told him that he was safe at our temp center and that no harm would come to him. However, he begged to be taken elsewhere. GÇ£If I am discovered in the State, I will be killed.GÇ¥ He was nothing if but sincere. I told him, that later today, I would arrange to transport him to our office in Yulai. He was comfortable with that. As I post this, I am getting the DSS Cab ready for a trip to Yulai.

I am a little embarrassed to admit my ignorance about things that most capsuleers know very well. Ships, weapons and military technology are not strengths of mine. What does and Achuran Pacifist know of such things? While I appreciate and study history, I often forget the minute details of what ships did what and their names. This became clear in my interaction with the Minmatar Emissary. I call him Cobbs, though that isnGÇÖt his real name.
GÇ£Nyx, Nyx, Nyx!GÇ¥ Cobbs shouted it a little louder each time as if that might remove the dumb-founded look on my face. GÇ£Ever heard of Alexander Noir? Ishukone? The Wandering Saint?GÇ¥ Now the light came on, GÇ£Oh yes, the Malkalen disaster,GÇ¥ I replied. The man had been trying to get something across to me about why he was concerned about the failure of the consulate mission. We had been watching a news feed in the Yulai office and the story about the Federation denial of extradition had just come on. GÇ£There are many within the State who believe that with the Republic and the Federation in a sour relationship, the time has never been riper for revenge.GÇ¥ GÇ£We canGÇÖt afford a weak ally in the Gallente.GÇ¥ GÇ£None of this is good.GÇ¥ His words started to make more sense and I began to see the sense in a Minmatar consular mission to the Empire to ultimately influence the State with regard to the Federation.
What does a Nyx have to do with all of it? He went on to remind me that it had been a Nyx supercarrier that had been rammed into the Ishukone station killing all those people and feeding the hatred between the State and Federation. GÇ£If you were a State terrorist and wanted the sweetest revenge; one that made a historical statement, what ship would you use?GÇ¥ Cobbs stressed his point as he tried to make me see what he was saying. GÇ£So, what is the particular issue? This technology is available to capsuleers regardless of race or politics.GÇ¥
He drew in a deep breath and answered, GǣThe destruction of the Titan over Caldari Prime; the assassination attempt on Karin Midular; tensions between the Federation and the Republic, Tibus Heth; Empress Jamyl; radicals from every faction fomenting hate and calling for action. See any patterns? Terrorists love to strike at times of instability and heightened emotion. That is the big deal. Think about what a determined Caldari pilot, fueled with vengeance, just thinkGǪGǥ His words stopped and he just nodded his head in a determined way.
GÇ£Do you think someone is planning to do something like that?GÇ¥ I asked the question even though it was obvious Cobbs thought that it was so. Cobbs replied, GÇ£Not thinkGÇöknow!GÇ¥ GÇ£IGÇÖve probably said enough.GÇ¥ The conversation ended and I headed back to our patrol areas. Maybe we could talk later? Cobbs nodded, "maybe."

Dear sir,
Cobbs wasn't suggesting the State is behind this. Rather "unstable" elements within the State, or Republic, or Federation, or Empire as you know, can act far far apart from any governmental authority or approval. I am sorry if I created the wrong impression. I do hope, however that reasonable capsuleers will be keeping an eye out. Maybe Cobbs is delusional. Maybe he is on to something.

Terrorism only works because people allow themselves to be bullied and scared by the radical minorities.
It's a horrible thing every time it happens, but as long as we allow the media to give these people the ONLY thing they want, exposure, they will keep doing it.
In the face of these disasters, we should close ranks and mourn the lost in quiet.

What a proud boast, asserting that not only does the Federation terrorize you, but if you were to be serious about reprisal - and obviously your too civilized and good to do such a thing, no - then it's a given that you would succeed.
And you wonder why it is that I don't like you. Can you provide me any good arguments for why you believe this kind of hollow bravado and slander is warranted and deserved, Tuulinen?

It was likely an unwise decision to mention that Mr. Cobbs is in our Yulai facility as during the last few hours, our staff reports strange and suspicious activity. There was a momentary power loss at our facility. Our computers were down for several minutes. A member of our kitchen staff was knocked unconscious by an unknown assailant. Staff and residents have reported the presence of new faces claiming to be new residents of our facility asking questions. Dr. Nalthkh has instructed me to prepare to move Mr. Cobbs to a different system sometime soon when we feel we can do so securely.
In response to Mr. Tuulinen, Yes, I now believe that this is a warning that someone is planning to attempt an act of violent terror. After today's events, Mr. Cobbs has indicated that he is in possession of security access information that if in the wrong hands could be used to take the lives of many. Presumably, this has something to do with the "Nyx" he kept on about earlier today. He has begged us to protect him at all costs and to get him to a more secure location as soon as possible.
After today's not so cryptic demand that Mr. Cobbs be handed over to members of the Northern Co. for questioning, we feel that we are in over our heads on this one. Any capsuleers who can offer assistance, secure locations, etc. are urged to help in any capacity. Please contact me. While much is still a mystery, we now believe that what Mr. Cobbs describes is a threat to all who desire stability in our cluster.
If the information that Mr. Cobbs possesses is highly sought by certain terror elements, as he claims, then all of us, in the State, Federation, Republic and Empire have an interest in stopping any person or persons involved in this plot. This situation needs to be moved into the light as much as possible. Perhaps the people involved can be stopped before a blood bath occurs.

That you love to make statements along the lines of "The State is great" and interject with "The Federation is not great" is a given, I expect little less from a chest-beating STPRO-enlisted State-national.
But I do expect claims and statements to stay within the realms of reality and not slide into slights of fantasy for the hell of it.
As for the rest of this topic, there is nothing here to get involved with. Ston Momaki seeks to garner more attention and spread his sensationalist 'findings' with the rest of us. Old news.

I hope you are right. Believe me I hope you are right, but I'm afraid you are not and that there will be much to get involved with before this is all resolved. Mr. Tuulinen, I am trying very hard to do as you suggest and will get the information out to the capsuleer community as much as I can. Mr. Cobbs seems to be talking more as his fear grows. I will share what I can when I can that it might possibly be stopped.
The latest information that I have received from Mr. Cobbs is that a certain volitile organization is currently completing the assembly of a large crew capable and trained to operate a Nyx Super-carrier and that they have in their possession the location of said carrier but lack only the security and access codes necessary to take it. These are zealots who, in Mr Cobbs words,"will charge to their death for vengeance' sake."
What they plan to do with it is what gives Mr. Cobbs his recurring nmightmares and what is increasing his anxiety. These details he has yet to share with me.

I would say that as regards Malkalen, the principle of vicarious liability would hold. Whilst it was indeed Admiral Noir that conducted the brutal atrocity and murder against unarmed Caldari civilians under the guise of diplomatic dialogue - that even if such an act of unprovoked terrorism was not tacitly sanctioned by the Federal government - then there still exists culpability on the part of the Federation, its government and its armed forces out of either negligence or incompetence to prevent the tragedy on the part of one of its military personnel who represented the people and government of the Federation.

Predictably, you fail to mention the whole Federal delegation who died on the station along with all your civilians.
You may chose to assume liability for the whole of the government that you so despise, this is nothing new. From your viewpoint regarding liability it would even hold, because no matter what I or anyone else says Noir was an Admiral in the Federation Navy and he was the pilot for the flagship. He was chosen for a good reason, and I suspect that no-one foreseeing this happening is ultimately irrelevant to your convenient excuse for hatred.
At the end of the day however, Tuulinen's claims are still as absurd and far-fetched as I have previously indicated. No amount of spin will pin the blame for the Kairiola and Shiigeru crashes on the Federation Navy or the Union at large, no amount of wishful thinking will make capital crashes any sort of perverse sport that this Federation somehow enjoys, as Tuulinen would apparently want to think.
This entire topic did not require any ill-advised stab at the Union or chest-beating on the State's behalf, but he managed to contribute just that regardless. I suspect there will be plenty more chances for this to repeat in the future, it is after all a time-honored tradition of the IGS to bad-mouth your ideological and political opponents any chance you get. This has been the case for years, I see no reason why this uncivilized behavior should stop any time soon.

I know the differences between Tovil-Toba and Noir just fine. Unless you don't actually have anything to add in your own defense, it's not much of an excuse not to respond.

Gentlemen and Ladies, I beg you to put national, political, and personal quarrels aside and be willing to help stop the person or persons planning this terrorist attack. We think Cobbs is telling the truth and we think he may give us more specific information soon. We believe it is in the interests of all to join together to stop this potential act of terror.
From the latest conversations, Cobbs has indicated that the time frame is about one week and the terrorist group is desperate to get their hands on what Cobbs knows. We are growing very uncomfortable with our ability to provide sufficient security. We have not found a reasonable explanation for the problems we have had in Yulai and believe it was an attempt to penetrate our security and abduct Cobbs. We are equally concerned about moving him. We feel that if we don't, there may be another, more serious attempt to take Cobbs. At the same time, moving him is a risk as well.
I have called in a favor and found another pilot to cover my patrol duties. I will be staying with Cobbs until this is resoved.

As mentioned earlier, Mr. Cobbs is not the real name of the Minmatar Emissary. He actually has not told his real name. We have received a couple offers for assistance in moving Mr. Cobbs to a safer place. Dr. Nalthkh will have the final say in that. We are feeling a bit more urgency in this after another incident last night. Our center in Edmalbrurdus experienced an attempted hack into our communications network. A sophisticated hack program was running a subroutine in our transponder tracking program.
Mr. Cobbs has also told us that his intelligence indicates that the terrorist group planned to use Sansha activity as a cover for their movements. But we still have no further information on where this group currently resides or exactly when they plan to move. As far as we know, they do not yet have possession of the Nyx as the access and activation codes are locked up in Mr. Cobbs brain. That is why protecting him is priority.

Tuulinen's one sided view of history is much like that of many others across all four empires. The sooner a non biased educational program is enforced across all regions for our youth so that they can know all the facts the better. As things are ignorance will continue to spread, and with it malice and ill will towards others.
And those who have been victims in event after event will continue to have their names and memories dishonoured by false renditions of the past.

A little more than 12 hours ago, Mr. Cobbs was captured by an element of the Northern Coalition, Marlona Sky. In the 12 hours that have passed, we have received evidence in the form of a taunt of sorts, that she and her cohorts have stolen a Nyx Supercarrier.
It began as we initiated an evacuation of Mr. Cobbs from our Yulai facility. Convinced that our security had been completely compromised, we determined to move him in spite of the danger. I had made a contact with a trusted and capable pilot to take over providing sanctuary for Mr. Cobbs. He and I prepared to set out to rendezvous with this individual.
Cobbs had earlier stated, GÇ£They know every move you make.GÇ¥ As I said at the beginning, I believe we were in over our heads from the start. This proved to be true. Prior to Mr. Cobbs boarding my shuttle and departing for our ill-fated rendezvous, he gave me a small capsule. "Swallow this," he said, "It contains an encrypted memory chip that requires dual activation." "If we should come under attack, they we seek to capture me and kill you." "In that event, the chip will be remotely activated by me and also only if the host dies." "Skilled cryptography will be needed to recover the data contained in the chip."
Mr. Cobbs was obsessed with the secrets he knew and even though it would have been for his own good, he refused to reveal the information. Even at the end, he would only give it to us encrypted. Now he is in the hands of those who can and probably have forcefully extracted it. We need to extract that information also.
The infiltration of the Yulai office was far greater than we thought. They were able to plant bug devices on all of our docked vessels, including the shuttle DSS Cab. They knew all of our movements. They knew the departure time and route. They also planted subroutines enabling them to shut down our engines and overload the core. It was very clever to intercept us with a rookie ship, seemingly harmless. The attack was a long and purposeful taunt. Mr. Cobbs had time to ponder what was going to be his fate. He performed the first activation of the chip before I ejected his life-pod. And when my capsule was destroyed, the chip was fully activated, but encrypted. The pilot we were to meet, Captain Scherezad, was contacted when we were first attacked and arrived in time to retrieve my corpse. Cobbs was right, they took him, killed me and left my body behind.
Operation Whitehall, as we are calling it, is the concerted effort to decrypt the information on that chip. What we are looking for is the location of the Nyx supercarrier, the day of Sky's planned attack, and the specific time and location of her departure. We have asked Scherezad to head up Operation Whitehall. We wait for her response. We are asking for expert cryptographers of all races, nations and factions to volunteer to assist in Operation Whitehall. Interested parties should contact DSTON or Captain Scherezad directly. Time is of the essence.
What I am now asking risks even the core of my own values. Marlona Sky must be stopped at all costs. Capsuleers, we need to put aside our race, politics, enmities; we need to join together to stop Marlona Sky from wreaking death and destruction. Even as a pacifist, I know that this can only be done with force. I feel the tension; death to prevent greater death; violence to stop unspeakable violence. Caldari, Minmatar, Gallente, and Amarrian pilots need to join together. Many will be needed once the information is decrypted and made public. I risk the edifice of my own pacifism in calling all of you to arms against this threat.

We have recovered the data packet and are withdrawing the encrypted block. Once this is complete we will be taking the device to the AFM lab for molecular arrangement decomposition to determine if there are further clues embedded therein.
We are expecting a public key model for the cryptographic system, but as of yet are unsure. However, we are confident that the encryption method will become apparent shortly.
Given the sensitive nature of this task, LDRBC will not be soliciting outside help.

Status Report
We have withdrawn the encrypted block and have begun decomposition studies of it. The estimable crypto lab of Lai Dai Intelligence Services has assisted us in this regard and has helped identify the encryption method as a 256kB public encryption algorithm. We have been able to track the public key database to a GP address block associated with a network of servers in low-security space. These servers operate out of deadspace facilities, however, and are currently not responding to pings, so we are unable to retrieve the key. This problem is being dealt with presently.
The physical device has been thoroughly scanned and catalogued to reveal any further clues. We believe that we have located the quantum synchronization bit module, so will hopefully soon be able to begin partial decryption. Any information will be provided as it is made available.

A quick update.
We have managed to begin a partial decryption of the encrypted block. Embedded in the block is the identification registry number corresponding to a Nyx-class Supercarrier, as well as control codes. We are doing a search to determine whether the construction was logged in a registered nanofacturing facility. Despite this unsurety, we are relatively sure that the code is a valid code, and that the Supercarrier does indeed exist.
We are redoubling our efforts to decrypt the remainder of the encrypted block.

I find myself again having to step out of my own comfort zone and ask my fellow capsuleers, many of whom are skilled and experience warriors, to not wait to muster yourself to meet this threat. Praparations must be made and pilots must be ready to move to stop Captain Sky at short notice. It is a matter of time before location information is determined but lead time will likely be very short. We also may be receiving other intelligence soon that will help us out.
This is a woman who has sworn to take vengeance. She has clearly indicated that loss of life matters not. Whatever her plans are, they are set in her mind and she is determined to carry them out. My encounter with her has convinced me that she is fully capable and will not hesitate to use what she possesses to bring about the most destruction possible. An urgent status report;
We have been able to complete a more thorough decryption of the encrypted block, and the data is troubling.
The datagrams concur with previous investigations by LDIS, confirming that the Nyx is currently in low-security space. There has also been troubling communication protocols used - they are concurrent with Sansha's Nation communication systems. We thus expect the involvement of Sansha's Nation.
We are currently working on decrypting the final segment of the block, but we have decrypted enough to show a timestamp of 19:00 celestial time, tomorrow, 115.05.05.
If one were to make guesses, we suspect that this is the launch time. We have asked LDPS to be on high alert in low-security areas where able, and especially in areas where a National Incursion is ongoing or expected. |

Operation Whitehall is working non-stop to locate the system where this will initiate. 100,000's, perhaps millions of innocent lives are at stake. Marlona Sky must be stopped. I am currently enroute to the Jita trade hub where the Minmatar Emissary, "Mr. Cobbs" has been brought and awaits transfer to our care. We do not yet know his condition or what care he may need. We only received notification from Captain Sky that arrangements had been made for us to pick him up in Jita. Because Mr. Cobbs is an Emissary of the Minmatar Government, we invite a request from the Minmatar Administration for the return of their employee. In the mean time, we will see to his medical and psychological needs.
