Realy? I whouldn't know, because theire borders are closed, and they tend to get very mad when I stop to urinate in one of theire astroidbelts where they grow ISK. They are dragging theire big feet around with a huge chain attached.
And
Darcuese : No. I don't spend any time trying to help n00bs. Why whould I do that? I am trying to get FIVE to ask ASCN for help to crush RA... I don't care about n00bs..
ohh, and, when FIVE is crushed by RA and ASCN wonder why the color of theire neighbour regions change.. I doubt the hobbits will care.. After all, they hate the Five. Have a huge grudge against SA. Don't like the RA. REALY hate NBSI. Want to destroy the north...
hmm..
ASCN ain't hobbits.. they are the dark force of Mordor.. Only thing is.. they are harmless and full of hate..

russians started the pos war as it was their only way to stay in 0.0 they are an industrial alliance who use their time zone to be able to construct dozens of supply trips.

Err, if it is only 30 bs versus 6 Dreads, battleships win HANDS DOWN

I'm confused. Since when do we hate NBSI? Granted there's some healthy animosity but since Cartiff no longer sings to us that has cleared up a lot. On the other hand, we don't hate anybody come to think of it. I mean, we've got even a picture hanging at the ***** bar at one of the outposts of Seleene. Oddly enough there's one of chow there as well. Alongside with Zloba and many many others.
We're fanatical in our love, not in our hate. I think.
/me runs off to nearest shrink now. This thread is sooo confusing. And i take offense at being called "hobbits", I don't even know what that means ^^

After watching a dreadnaught go down to a small fleet in under 43 seconds (timed it) I wonder about the smarts of massing them in one place.
As long as you can outblob consistantly you are ok. The SECOND you can't field more numbers than the opponent is when one mistake can cost you 3b+ isk. Or the second they manage to draw your uber fleet off.
While a Dread is siege mode does tremendous damage and has good armor, I still think that even a small sized fleet warping in @ 15km and orbiting that dread could kill it in probably under 3 min. I haven't had the oppportunity to try yet, will let you know how that works out :). If so that dread represents a large amount of time and effort to risk.
And I have to agree with Chowdown - attacking POS, even smalls, is tremendously boring. You can't even go semi afk as if you get targeted and hit you have to warp out before the next salvo or risk being popped.

Apparently both the Five and BoB already have a sizeable number of dreadnaughts; and the issue is just waiting for enough pilots with the skills to fly them in siege mode.

Though POS wars are boring, equally boring is constant conquerable station flopping that occurred before sovernty. I think as we see more capable dread pilots who are able to properly tank things may get much more interesting... also there's a possibility that dreads came in pre-nerfered like the stealth bombers.

Dreads need a damage boost, for the cost of them and the MASSIVE effort of moving them it is absolutely pathetic that they cannot destroy pos in a reasonable time.
3b of dread against 300m of pos = pos win.
Until CCP make it viable for a dread to win, no one will use htem in the way they were intended and eve will stagnate, imo.

I have just been takeing a look around the world of EVE, and I have to say, for a dread-pilot, I don't think I have ever seen such a target rich enviorment as there are in Immensea atm.
There are 10+ small POS towers with only a few guns in several systems. Ofcuz I didn't 'visit' them to see who got the most, but, someone better start breaking out the DREADS soon, or the war in Immensea will be won by the faction claiming the most moons, and flying the best haulers.
FIVE are not backing up Shinra, and the Shinra sponsored corps are looseing theire pilots to the battlehardend RA pilots left and right.
There are no peace in the south, and the people that live down there, better start makeing deals with the Red Army, because they are there to stay it seems.
FIVE seems to be isolated in this battle as the hobbits are digging veldspar and buying quaffe in LONEtreck, and not helping theire 'allies' secure the areas outside theire doorstep.
I think if we're gonna compare people in EVE to LotR characters, based on your posts, you would be the Grima Wormtongue of EVE.

A POS is a constant work for people living around it. They need to feed it the impressive amount of components and ice minerals it requires. This amount is even bigger if the POS is well protected. A dreadnough should not be the big flashy "WIN" button against POSs.
And... afaik it takes 30 minutes to a dread + 18 BSs to put a small POS in reinforced mode. Not a decent amount of time heh ?

QFT
btw stop the altpost already everyone can read youre neither neutral nor have a grip on reality by making statements such as "doubt they can afford 10 dreads by christmas".
Thats what, 40 bln isk ? I know players who have that amount of money in their own accounts not even speaking corp or alliancewide ressources.
As for the dreads, they are currently more a prestige and siege item, since their stats are totally inadequate for close combat or larger battles. On the otherhand a dread can with enough support most likely turn the tide in an equal (playernumbers) longrange battle if it is deployed smart and it can atleast theoretically atm turn the tide in pos wars.

Olyyy,
10 small POS's can be run with 1 indy per day. Overall cost for a small POS comes to about what, 40m... Nothing.
And it takes 1 hour for a dread and 18 BS's to put a small POS into reinforced. Too long for something that can be fueled for 10 days with one indy (not to mention use of freighters), and can kill BS's in a few shots.
Tbh though, the issue isn't with how long it takes to kill a POS, the issue is that they are far too cheap to buy and maintain. --------

Hehe, spoken like a true clueless individual.
A Small pos is mabye 50M including fuel. Dreads take fuel and dare I say WAY more logistics to even move.
In their current state they are an absolute joke. CCP prenerfed them, thats a fact. It's their new way of doing things because they are too lazy to test things properly and like to toss in their subscription carrots for us poor fools to drool over.

A dread is 2 weeks of just BUILD time, at a cost of 2b+ if u get cheap mins.
A dread requires a fleet of indy's to move it, perhaps even freighters if u lucky with the staging point.
A dread requires an escort of at least 30 people in any reasonably competent alliances' space.
A dread takes 15 minutes to jump, it would take about a WEEK to move the damn thing (assuming not 23/7 game play for all 31 pilots) from Agil to the ass end of 0.0, fethyabolis for example, and, when it gets there, without NPC stations or the ability to dock a freighter, escorted industrial runs through about 50+ jumps of hostile territory with Isotopes, ammo and other consumeables to keep it running and attacking the 15+ pos's that any defensively minded alliance would have running at their outpost / pcs station systems.
Don't try and justify the work load of a POS to negate the ability of a Dread, something that is DESIGNED to DESTROY a POS, to do what it is DESIGNED to do.
They need boosting. I'm quite happy for them to SUCK at killing battleships, but in siege mode any one dread should be able to tank the damage from even the baddest ass POS. It SHOULD take a fleet to SUPPORT the POS to destroy a Dread that is in siege mode.
They SHOULD be an "I win" button against pos, they should NOT be an "I win" button against pos AND a fleet.

If dreadnoughs are unerfed the way you want, then it's gonna simply be rampage in 0.0 of the alliance with the most dreadnoughs and the biggest fleet. You atm.
I consider hard work behind a POS (a large one) should provide some advantages such as a relative safety (not absolute). Hard work and dedication should not be crushed easely by the first strike team. I think a relative safety of VERY well defended POSs would also bring more people in 0.0 (i think this relative safety currently exists)
I'd like to remind you also of one of the biggest current POS weakness: you can't have them focusing fire. A shame isn't it ? It means that any POS can be destroyed if you put the right amount of dreads on it. Logistic behind is hard ? Of course it is. Well used dreads are extremly powerful weapons against POSs. Do the maths about tanking capability of a dread in siege mode: it's impressive.
Enslaver => perhaps raising cost of small CTs to 50M and med one to 75M could be a good start ? I'm not against the principle of POS war tbh, it's a war in which the most dedicated side has a chance to win. Dedication is something I like, it makes you think twice before starting a war, it also gives a slight advantage to alliances with a decent industrial backbone (= isk). Maintaining dedication could also be interesting. I like when people fight for a little more than just fun (RP wise of course)

No, that would get you and the 400 Thorax' a ban actually. Its an exploit.
